The Boomerang 'Blast Off!'

The Boomerang 'Blast Off!'

30 Aug 2025 - 30 Aug 2025

The Boomerang Club London are very proud to present an explosive night of Wild Rock 'n' Roll for you at our Boomerang 'Blast Off!' DO NOT MISS IT!! ★★★ The Playboys - LONDON RETURN GIG! The band was originally formed in January 1986, yes, that's 39 years ago. The idea was that of Dave Begent, who asked Rob Glazebrook if he would play guitar with him and Kev Clark (drums), and the ethos of the group was to play, simply, wild Rock n Roll + Rockabilly and choose songs that were not being covered and write their own. However, the singer chosen didnt arrive at the first rehearsal, so Rob ended up singing all of the songs and playing guitar, a first for him. Wanting to expand their sound, Clive Osborne then joined the guys on saxophone, and the rest is history. Their first album Invitation To Death all self-penned, was released in 1989. Over the years, they have played over 4000 gigs, and throughout this time, there have been a few line up changes. Although, there now seems to be 1 that clicks well, and audiences have gotten used to seeing. After the issue of the Twenty One album, back in 1994, on Joker Records, and re-realised on Rolling Rock in 2008. They have reformed once before but now 4 years later, after their last gig, have they decided to reform again due to public and popular demand. The line up on Twenty One and now will be; Rob Glazebrook (Vcls + Gtr), Wayne Hopkins (Bass), Clive Osborne (Saxophone) and Ricky McCann (drums). It's a who's who of well known faces, who know how to Rock n Roll, which has always been the idea of the group. Rare and wonderful songs are given the Playboys treatment, like Cast Iron Arm, Ooh My Soul, Bloody Mary, and the wonderful Comeback Judy released on a 45 in 1995. The band are ready once again, to give audiences some wild nights. DO NOT MISS THIS LONG AWAITED LONDON RETURN! ★★★ The Escobars - DEBUT LODON GIG! Escobar's formed mid 2022..A Rockin fuson of Rock n roll and rockabilly covers not regularly heard, with some self written songs played for good measure.. James Steele lead vocals.. Trevor Coveney Double Bass.. Robert James Hines lead guitar.. Crag Shape Drums .. With the bands influence's reaching across all Rockin styles , from obscure rare tunes of yester year, to songs written, recorded and performed more recently., Escobar's played Two gigs in Las Vegas 2023 and are booked to go back to play again 2025 with gigs in Los Angels also . A CD is recorded and is now going to press , soon to be released on El dandy Records (by April 2025 ).. Sidewalk Slam: Punkband, Rats Nest, And More
Alright, listen up; numbers don't lie. You got PunkBand, Rats Nest, GLU, Equals What, Magpie Conspiracy, and Bang Bang Bunny-six bands. June 25th. Fiddler's Elbow. London. Now, let's do the math. Each of these bands, they're bringin' some serious 'E' for energy, okay? So, that's 5E. Now, you factor in the Fiddler's Elbow, a compact space, right? That's gonna amplify that 'E', like a mathematical multiplier. We're talkin' 5E times a 'compression factor', 'C'. 5EC. Now, you got a variable 'P', the number of punks in attendance. But here's the kicker: this ain’t your average 'P'. This 'P' is gonna be off the charts! We're talkin' about exponential growth! So, while you're dividing 5EC by 'P', 'P' is gonna be so HUGE, it's gonna create a singularity of punk energy! A mathematical black hole of mosh pits! So, the math says: You got a 100% chance of these bands playin', a 100% chance of insane energy, and a 100% chance of me doin' the math and tellin' you, this ain't no ordinary gig. This is a mathematical certainty of pure, unadulterated punk chaos! June 25th. Fiddler's Elbow. Do the math... Presented by The Local. This is an 18+ event.

Punk Sunday Matinee. Three bands, three female vocalists, friends for 49 years!! (Doors open at 1pm and close promptly at 5pm). ★★★ TICKETS ON THE DOOR £13 CASH ONLY ★★★ Constructed around the enduring nucleus of Sid Truelove and Zillah Minx, Rubella Ballet formed at a gig in 1979 when Crass invited their audience to use their equipment. Rubella Ballet assembled a diverse range of material that encompassed all points from perky to doomy, with lyrics that juxtaposed protest and dissent against more impressionistic themes. Danger of Death their last album, was a hit with critics and the group's faithful following and drew upon a lifetime's opposition to oppression and exploitation. Many cite it as the band's crowning achievement. Brigandage started in 1981 to remind people of the glory, colour and inclusiveness of 1976! There have been many members along the way but this version includes Terry, a founding member of Sex Gang Children, on bass; Carl of the Chefs and more, is our guitar hero and Alan takes care of the drumming. Family of Strangers formed in Nov '23 and have loads of punk rock service under their belts. Inspired by legendary punk bands like Penetration, The Damned, The Cramps, UK Subs and Rancid, Family of Strangers delivers a raw and powerful sound. Punktuation magazine (R.Rae) had this to say "the likes of Dressed To Kill and Disintegration Nation rank among the best of pogo-worthy punk tunes. Everything they play is delivered with the confidence and panache youd expect of a headline band. Prog the Forest '25

Prog the Forest '25

6 Dec 2025 - 6 Dec 2025

The charity one day progressive music event PROG the FOREST returns for its seventh year at the famous Fiddler's Elbow in Camden, North London on 6th December 2025 a Saturday this year, as many people suffered transport difficulties last year due to Sunday railway engineering works. As always, event will showcase the diversity of modern progressive rock music and adjacent genres, and all profits will be donated to the World Land Trust. In order to maximum fundraising while still making the event affordable, there are a range of ticket prices, to enable people to make an increased donation if they wish (and are able) to, please note that they do not come with any additional benefits, other than raising more money for the cause. There is also the option of an afternoon set only ticket, for those who may be attending another gig in London in the evening. ALPHALINE is a Reading-based alt/psychedelic rock band fusing hypnotic rhythms, soaring vocals, and luminous guitar textures into a sound that's both nostalgic and futuristic. Influenced by bands such as Massive Attack and Porcupine Tree, the fires of evolution and transformation, and the pulse of the underground, AlphaLine creates immersive sonic journeys rooted in soul, grit, and a sense of cosmic wonder. "We make music for the ones who think wild, feel deep, and move to their own beat." MOTHER BLACK CAP : Formed back in 2005, Mother Black Cap take their inspiration from the classic 70's Prog bands such as Floyd, Genesis, Camel, Focus added a touch of Marillion and Spock's Beard to produce inspiring music, thoughtful lyrics and above all great tunes. And having played hundreds of gigs over the years at venues and festivals such as HRH Prog and the Cambridge Rock Festival, they also know how to put on a good live show and entertain the crowds. They have recently released their 4th Studio Album Caveman TV which is receiving great reviews! A FORMAL HORSE is an avant-rock awkward squad working out of Southampton. Abrupt changes of tempo and direction abound, with adrenalized, Crimsonesque complexity interfacing with more languid, light-filled chords. A Formal Horse possess warmth and charm Prog Magazine BOVIDAE (Boh-vi-die) are a progressive instrumental quartet based in Sheffield. They perform a complex and highly charged fusion of heavy metal, classical and jazz styles, resulting in a unique and genre-defying sound. Expect polyrhythmic beats to challenge the most mathematically-minded, sweepingly epic piano harmonies interplaying with face-melting bass riffs, subtle (and not so subtle) nods to classical anthems, and violin solos to transport you to another galaxy. A live Bovidae show is an almost mystical journey that will leave you breathless, watching four musicians juggle and interweave music from opposite ends of the spectrum, all at 100 miles an hour, teetering on the very edge of chaos. For fans of King Crimson, Philip Glass, Frank Zappa, Meshuggah, horror film scores, polyrhythms, Gustav Holst, Igor Stravinsky JON HUNT is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist from London. His music though often described as 'quintessentially English' is eclectic in style ranging from alternative rock and power-pop to ballads; vocal and acoustic guitar to progressive rock and psychedelia. 'With nods to the likes of Paul Weller, Francis Dunnery and Miles Hunt (no relation); Jon Hunt's road-worn tales of love, life, longing and loathing combine edgy guitar with melodies that will glue themselves inside your head'. HATS OFF GENTLEMEN ITS ADEQUATE combine prog/alt/art-rock, with contemporary classical, minimalist, metal and electronic elements. They often explore scientific and science fiction themes. This year they have released their critically acclaimed 8th album, 'The Uncertainty Principle'. Spiky neo-prog and art-rock. Never less than entertaining, passionate, humorous and committed Prog Magazine COMEDY OF ERRORS : Scotland's finest and most revered progressive rock band have enthralled audiences at many of the world's most prestigious prog festivals, including Rosfest, Loreley, the Cambridge Rock Festival, Terra Incognita, 2 Days Prog + 1, The Prog Before Xmas and the Nene Valley Rock Festival. At the forefront of the progressive rock revival, they played their first live gig in May 1984 and the quality of their performances has been universally acknowledged and praised, capturing the hearts of a loyal and constantly growing fanbase spanning the globe. Their unique sound blends classical elements and symphonic prog, with unsurpassed emotional resonance and depth, and does not shy away from tackling the grand themes of human existence. Their most recent album, Threnody for a Dead Queen, their sixth since re-forming in 2011 after a long hiatus, was greeted with resounding critical acclaim, winning the coveted accolade of The Prog Mill Listeners Album of the Year in 2023. Currently back in the studio recording, their eagerly anticipated seventh album is on track to be released later this year, with Rob Aubrey putting the finishing touches to the mix. The band will be playing a series of live dates in 2025 with a revitalised set in which they return to their roots incorporating some classics not heard by fans since their early gigs in the 1980s. This is progressive rock as it was always meant to be Richard Swan, The Progressive Aspect. The music builds, almost as if alive, it has moods and emotions and captivates from the very first note Martin Hutchinson, Prog Radar Im thrilled and delighted to be co-promoting the seventh annual Prog the Forest one-day festival, which will be held on a Saturday this year, due to the travel problems many experienced last year due to railway engineering works on the Sunday. Were also offering a reduced price afternoon only ticket, for those who may be attending another gig in London in the evening. Once again, we have a superb line-up of acts - all of whom are donating their services for free - which makes this fabulous event uniquely affordable in these difficult times while still raising a considerable sum for our cause. Co-promoter Chris Parkins (London Prog Gigs) The World Land Trust buys threatened rainforest, to protect in trust, to stop them getting chopped down. Trees make oxygen, without which breathing is a bit pointless. So protecting the trees is good for the wildlife, and good for us staying alive. A win-win really - Co-promoter Malcolm Galloway (Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate) Prog the Forest is an all-day festival in 2 halves, with a break between the afternoon and the evening sets to allow people to have a meal; there are a huge number of eateries nearby in Chalk Farm and Camden Town. Accompanied children are welcome until 6pm. Due to licensing requirements the venue is 18+ after 6pm. The Fiddler's Elbow is a mostly standing venue, but some seating is available (restricted view). The event aims to be responsive to needs of attendees with disability issues; If you require a reserved seat, please let the organisers know.
