Tangerinecat

Tangerinecat

28 May 2026 - 28 May 2026

tAngerinecAt is a British duo whose powerful sonic rituals merge shamanic industrial electronics, dark jazz, folk, post metal, overtone singing, and evocative spoken word into a visceral, genre-defying experience. Formed by Ukrainian-born producer, sound artist, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Zhenia Purpurovsky and British sound artist Paul Chilton, the project is driven by a fierce anti-war, anti-fascist, and anti-ecocide ethos and a deep commitment to artistic innovation.
Folk at the Chapel Presents La Cozna & Mary Hampton
Sheffield General Cemetery Trust is delighted to welcome La Cozna & Mary Hampton to the Samuel Worth Chapel for a spellbinding evening of contemporary folk. La Cozna bring together Clmentine Ristord (bass clarinet, drone box), Benjamin Garson (electric guitar), Pierre-Antoine Despatures (double bass) and Nicolas Jacobe (vocals). Drawing on traditional French songs collected in the 20th century, the quartet reimagines these works for a modern audience. Once passed in whispers through kitchens and domestic spaces, these womens songs tell stories of love, violence and freedom - rich with humour, drama and poetic intensity. In Ni Nuit Ni Jour, ambiguity and tension run through feverish, immersive soundscapes, alive with desire and darkness. Mary Hampton is a folk singer, musician and composer whose work sits in the space between traditional song and art music. Influenced by Symbolism, experimental chamber music and folk traditions, her writing is at once fragile, desolate and darkly humorous - exploring the tensions between past and present, myth and reality, nature and civilisation. Described as a rare talent (The Guardian) and brilliant and peculiar (Acoustic Magazine), she was awarded a Paul Hamlyn Composers Award by Jarvis Cocker in 2017. Her releases include two acclaimed albums, alongside a series of EPs and singles. A captivating evening of contemporary folk - intimate, atmospheric and richly evocative. Cemetery Sessions Present Juliana Day, Manon McCoy, Benji Wilson
Cemetery Sessions Present Juliana Day, & Manon McCoy British-French experimental harpist Manon McCoy and Sheffield-based recorder/whistle player Juliana Day come together for a live improvised performance at the stunning Samuel Worth Chapel. Manon McCoy is an experimental harpist, improviser and composer based in the North of England. Working across live performance, sound art and installation, she combines harp and live electronics in collaborative and improvisatory settings. Alongside projects including balo and her duo with vocalist Alice Brookes- whose latest record was released on Berlin label Elektramusic in 2025- she performs nationally and continues to explore the boundaries of the pedal harp through preparations, live processing and improvisation. Juliana Day is known for her distinctive approach to low recorders, whistles, voice and found sounds, building layered, looping compositions, her latest album described by Jazzwise as fascinating and contemplative. Her work has been commissioned by organisations including Making Tracks and the Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music, and her performances span experimental venues, concert settings and broadcast media including BBC Radio 3. Together, McCoy and Day create music that is industrial, dark, beautiful and dreamlike- moving between fragile intimacy and dense, shifting intensity. Both are core members of Sheffields Emergence Collective, which Day co-founded and co-directs, and share an ongoing collaborative practice, weaving harp, winds, voice and electronics into fluid, responsive forms. In this performance they are joined by Benji Wilson, a Sheffield based visual artist, photographer and videographer. Benji will be providing fully analogue live visuals using a range of vintage and adapted technology to blend and mix abstract textures with glitched out video feeds in real time. The chaotic feedback loops echo the looped and improvised music from Manon and Juliana to create an one of a kind audio-visual experience. Support comes from Emmy Lambert, a composer and sound artist working with electromagnetic fields, found sound and data sonification. Her practice explores texture, space and timbre, examining the intersections of humanity, technology, built infrastructure and the natural world.
