Ida Wenøe & Samantha Whates

Ida Wenøe & Samantha Whates

19 Apr 2026 - 19 Apr 2026

When Ida Wenøe and Samantha Whates take the stage together, it's not your typical double headline show where one artist follows the other. Instead, they weave their performances into something far more collaborative and unexpected. The two songwriters combine their set lists into a seamless flow, often without revealing who wrote which song. This approach creates a narrative that goes beyond what either achieves alonean unfolding story that draws you in, song by song. Rather than stepping aside, they share the stage from start to finish, featuring on each other's songs with harmonies, instrumental layers, and a natural ease that comes from genuine connection, respect and long time friendship. Expect two full sets that are immersive, multi-instrumental, and brimming with warmth, love and laughter. One of the most striking aspects of their collaboration is how it defies the competitive edge often projected onto women in music. Here, you witness the opposite: two artists lifting each other up, creating space for their songs to breathe together, and celebrating what happens when voices, stories, and talents intertwine. This is a performance that's part concert, part conversation, and wholly uniquean evening where the joy of collaboration takes center stage.

Jo Carley & the Old Dry Skulls

18 Apr 2026 - 18 Apr 2026

Blues, Skiffle, Calypso and Rockabilly with a creepy vaudeville twist It's music that makes people wanna shake their bones! This trio are known for their unique live show, transporting the audience to a bygone era when witches and black magic were rife. Their songs tell stories of deals with the devil, demons in love, witchdoctors, zombies, ghosts, ghouls, journeys to the deepest jungles and other exotic adventures which are told using sweet melodies and syncopated sounds. Jo Carley: Lead Vocals / Washboard / Mandolin / Percussion Tim Carley: Battered Archtop Guitar / Kick / Rattlin Shoe / Backing Vocals Stephane Spitz: Baritone Saxophone / Beat-up Double Bass / Backing Vocals The music takes influence from early vaudeville blues acts such as Victoria Spivey via Cab Calloway, Wilmoth Houdini and Wanda Jackson, but adding a creepy and theatrical twist that echoes Dr John and Screamin Jay Hawkins. Voodoo has found it's way onto British shores and Jo Carley is the wild and dark demonic music-hall mistress sent to predict hell in a way to entertain and amaze you, telling tales of terror with old-timey flair. She's joined by her songwriting partner and husband, the zombie-like Tim Carley, who drives the sound with blues-soaked rhythms on an old archtop guitar, kick drum, and rattling shoe. Completing the spell is multi-instrumentalist Stephane Spitz, shifting seamlessly between syncopated baritone sax leads and the pulsing heartbeat of the double bass. They are a DIY band, constricted to the beat-up musical instruments they have to hand. This gives them the elements of Skiffle, Blues, Jazz, Rock n Roll, Psychobilly, Rockabilly and Gothabilly. Jo and Tim left the rat race in 2013 to dedicate themselves to music. After a few years of busking around the UK and picking up odd gigs here and there they settled in a beach bungalow by the sea on the East Coast of England where they set up 'The Voodoo Shack', a studio to write and make music. Jo Carley And The Old Dry Skulls live to play live shows and touring the UK and Europe every year. "I can't take my eyes off these guys..., go to see them and expect the outside-of-the-box experience... there is nothing else like this band on the planet" - STEPHEN HARRISON / BLUES MATTERS MAGAZINE "With great lyrics and the combination of haunting ragtime blues they create a stupendously enjoyable jaunt into the darker recesses of voodoo, ... It's superb fun and a real pleasure to just indulge in its lyrics and music..." - Lee Powell / Vive Le Rock 2021 There are dark warnings, powerful accusations, gritty observations and singular attitude... this is a musical heist that robs you of ordinary and replaces it with exceptional" - Folkwords (UK) a macabre fairytale, Naughty creepy and full of sarcasm, So let's shake those bones together! Madeleine Roger

Madeleine Roger

6 May 2026 - 6 May 2026

Madeleine Roger (she/her) is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Winnipeg, Canada. While deftly accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, it is her artistry as a songwriter that can silence a room, uniting her lyrical prowess with breath-taking melodies and a crystalline voice that lingers long after the last note. Her newest collection of songs examines every nook and cranny of love and loss. It is unflinchingly honest - Madeleine has poured over every word, and the mastery of her craft shows. Nerve, the album created in the process (out August 2024 on Birthday Cake Records) was produced by Josh Kaufman (Anaïs Mitchell, Bob Weir, Bonny Light Horseman) is an uplifting gut-punch; an uninhibited account of risk, longing, regret, grief, and love. It touches on a breakup with a long-term lover and musical collaborator, the death of a soul-friend, the secret of an unrequited love, months of caring for a dying grandparent, and finding a curious peace in spite of it. Madeleine bravely exposes the delicate and private moments in life that are universal and sets them adrift on melodies and arrangements that make us feel like nothing is insurmountable. She has toured extensively for over a decade across Canada, the US, Europe, and the UK performing live at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Shetland Island Folk Festival (UK), Vancouver Island Music Festival, Stan Rogers Folk Festival, Wintergrass Festival (US), among many others. Two leading figures in today’s contemporary traditional music world. Their performances centre around Laura’s album ‘Vent’ - a deep, immaculately researched dive into women’s work songs (Waulking songs) from the Outer Hebrides. Laura has toured across the world in various different groups and artists within the contemporary folk music scene, including Kinnaris Quintet, guitar-virtuoso Ian Carr, Ross Ainslie, Salsa Celtica, NITEWORKS and with Scots Singers, Claire Hastings, Beth Malcolm & Siobhan Miller. As a founding member of Glasgow-based Jazz/Funk/R&B/Synth/Folk Juggernaut, Fat-Suit, Laura has been inspired to play with elements of improvisation in different styles, making her a versatile influence on each project. Collaborations include performing, writing and arranging with top bands and artists including Shooglenifty, Man of the Minch, Rachel Sermanni, The Elephant Sessions, Paul Towndrow’s Keywork Orchestra, Fatherson, GRIT Orchestra and many more. Vandalia

Vandalia

1 Jun 2026 - 1 Jun 2026

Vandalia is dedicated to exploring the depth and breadth of American String-band music. Informed by tradition, but not chained to it, the group has found a niche inside of the old-time community as well as in the wider arts world that offers audiences a forward-looking take on traditional acoustic music. Formed from a chance encounter at the 2024 Baltimore Old-Time Festival, fiddler Dakota Karper, cellist Ellen Gira and guitarist Gabriel Furtado met in a late-night afterparty jam session. The three musicians bring something all-their-own to the trio - West-Virginian born and raised, Dakota is steeped in the West Virginia fiddling tradition as the protege of master fiddler Joe Herrmann. A seasoned veteran of the both the D.C. and Glasgow music scenes, Ellen has made a reputation herself as one of the most versatile cellists in the trad world, adding her hallmark chop to countless ensembles and recordings, and stretching the boundaries of style with elements of the Scottish, Irish, American, Scandinavian and Canadian traditions. A classical-to-bluegrass guitar crossover, Gabriel is well known for his front-of-the-beat rhythm playing and driving pocket, heard at countless square dances, bluegrass festivals and jazz clubs in the greater Philadelphia area and beyond. Together the trio creates a version of string-band music you can tap your foot to, or get lost in the details of the melodies. Weaving intricate fiddle and cello lines, gorgeous vocal harmonies, subtle guitar textures and exhilarating rhythmic drive, the pleasure these three musicians have creating and playing together is palpable, both in the studio and on the concert stage.
Seel & Sanders

Seel & Sanders

11 May 2026 - 11 May 2026

The folk duo Seel & Sanders is the dynamic collaboration between the award-winning, London based singer-songwriter Alex Seel and internationally acclaimed composer and virtuoso bazouki, guitar and ukulele player, Jon Sanders. Their performances touch on influences from traditional & contemporary folk, jazz, arabic, eastern, country, blues and Americana, among others. And the songwriting topics are as equally diverse; such as inspirations from eccentric characters in ordinary life, to a metaphorical mole in the ground, to love in hard times, to gratitude and loss. Music has led Alex Seel from Devon to London to Ireland and back to London again. Through his wanderings, Alex has picked up a finely crafted, rootsy song-writing style with thought-provoking lyrics and a flare for acoustic guitar finger-picking. His influences range from blues, pop and the British Folk Revival guitarists but his sound is all his own. He has a growing reputation as a solo performer, having performed around the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Spain. Jon Sanders is recognised as a virtuoso bouzouki player, tenor ukulele player, drop D and DADGAD guitarist and an internationally acclaimed composer. His composition draws on elements of jazz, gypsy, funk, arabic, latino and Celtic styles, somewhat reminiscent of Sylvain Luc, Pierre Bensusan, Antonio Forcione and James Hill yet instantly different. The two met in Ireland and have found an exhilarating and dynamic combination of songs & instrumentals captivating audiences. “...Make no mistake, the audience raves about the sheer scope of musical interplay and different genres... Sanders with his jazz tinged Irish, Arabesque and world music solos, brought the sonorous experience of compositions from the British song-writer’s new album with almost unbelievable changes in tempo, accompanied masterfully by Seel’s impressive guitar... The audience loved Seel’s folk, pop and blues influenced songs and duos with Sanders”

Jo Harrop & Jamie Mccredie

Jo Harrop & Jamie Mccredie

24 Jul 2026 - 24 Jul 2026

Jo Harrop & Jamie McCredie - Together Again After a three-year hiatus from their journey as an intimate duo, Jo Harrop and Jamie McCredie return to the stage for a special evening at Green Note. This performance marks the next chapter in a collaboration that has earned widespread critical and broadcast acclaim. Alongside songs from their much-loved 2020 album Weathering The Storm, the duo will perform stripped-back interpretations from across their wider catalogues, as well as new material currently being written and recorded for their forthcoming album Lighthouses, planned for release in 2027. The Collaboration Weathering The Storm was met with rapturous reviews on release. The Guardian awarded the album four stars, calling it a gem simple, modest and perfect, while Iggy Pop described it as unimaginably good on his BBC Radio 6 Music show. Jo Whiley has repeatedly championed Harrop's work on BBC Radio 2, describing her voice as 'sublime. At the heart of this partnership is a shared commitment to understatement, space and emotional truth. Voice and guitar are given room to breathe, allowing the songs to unfold with clarity and intimacy qualities that have come to define their work together. This gig will be all about sharing a moment, a connection and a passion for their craft and the music they love. Jo Harrop Jo Harrop is an award-winning singer, songwriter and recording artist whose work effortlessly blurs the lines between jazz, blues and soul, with subtle influences of Americana, folk and Latin music. She first came to wider attention when Iggy Pop played her music on BBC Radio 6 Music, calling her a very fine jazz singer, following the release of Weathering The Storm. Her discography includes Weathering The Storm, The Heart Wants (with Hannah V, featuring Christian McBride), When Winter Turns To Spring (with Paul Edis), and The Path Of A Tear, recorded at The Village Studios in Los Angeles and produced by Grammy-winning producer Larry Klein. When Winter Turns To Spring won Album of the Year at the 2023 Parliamentary Jazz Awards, while The Path Of A Tear received multiple four- and five-star reviews internationally. Harrop was chosen to support Gregory Porter on his 13-date UK tour in 2025, including four nights at London's Royal Albert Hall. She has performed at many of the world's most respected venues and festivals, including Ronnie Scott's, the 606 Club, PizzaExpress Live, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Dizzy's Club at Lincoln Center (New York), SFJAZZ, Newcastle City Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Manchester Arena, and The Glasshouse in Gateshead. Frequently praised for her warm, smoky tone and emotional honesty, Harrop has been nominated twice for Vocalist of the Year. All About Jazz noted her ability to convey a wide range of moods effortlessly and naturally. While Bebop spoken here commenting on an earlier gig at the Greenote noted Harrop's vocals ranged from raw and bluesy to velvety smooth, her phrasing imbued with both classic soul and modern nuance. Jamie McCredie Jamie McCredie is one of the UK's finest solo guitarists and busiest session musicians. He has toured and recorded extensively around the world, working with a diverse range of artists including James Morrison, Roísin Murphy, Emeli Sandé, Will Young, Joss Stone, Beverly Knight, Kid Creole, Tokio Myers, Gilbert OSullivan, Robbie Williams, K.T. Tunstall, Steps, and on numerous film, television and radio sessions. After winning BBC Radio Guitarist of the Year at the age of 19, McCredie established himself as a distinctive voice on the instrument, blending fiery blues-inflected jazz with deep classical knowledge and exceptional technical facility. He has appeared on some of the world's largest stages including Glastonbury, Coachella, Montreux and the North Sea Jazz Festival as well as in intimate venues such as Ronnie Scott's and Cadogan Hall. As a producer and engineer, McCredie recorded, mixed and performed on Weathering The Storm with Jo Harrop, which received numerous Record of the Week accolades and support from Iggy Pop, Jo Whiley, Jamie Cullum and others. In 2023, he won a Parliamentary Jazz Award as producer for When Winter Turns To Spring. He is currently writing and recording his debut solo album.

Viv & Riley

Viv & Riley

19 May 2026 - 19 May 2026

Viv & Riley's sound is old-soul roots music to its core, elegantly combining a traditional backbone with the fresh iconic melodies of future-leaning indie-folk, and the tightly wound vocal harmonies of the old-time and classic country music they came from. Although they grew up on opposite sides of the country, Riley in Seattle, Washington, and Vivian in Lexington, Virginia, the two had an instant musical connection upon meeting in 2018. The pair has been collaborating since then, honing their sound playing hundreds of shows across the US, UK, and Canada. Since 2018, theyve recorded and released multiple albums to critical acclaim from the likes of NPR Music, Rolling Stone, and No Depression, and have garnered nearly six million streams on Spotify. A bittersweet nostalgia lies at the heart of Imaginary People, the new album from Viv & Riley, released September 15, 2023 on Free Dirt Records. Over ten tracks, the pair applies an indie roots sheen to newly composed pop gems. Rooted originally in the folk tradition, the pair reframe the production into experimental territory, crafting songs that speak to finding a path forward into adulthood in an uncertain world. The album brings a reflectiveness to summertime jams that speak of uninhibited joy and creative camaraderie. Based out of Durham, North Carolina, theyve tapped into the area's eclectic and collaborative music scene, recruiting Alex Bingham of Hiss Golden Messenger to produce the album. Bingham brings a sunny, lush sound to Viv & Riley's music, moving beyond their earlier country roots and toward a layered sound and sonic experimentation. The songwriting has evolved as well, from the world-weary, stripped-down country songs theyre known for to indie songwriting at turns sweetly sad and gently sardonic. Ultimately, Imaginary People is about carrying and honoring our pasts, about letting that inform our new steps forward. This balancing act is familiar territory for Viv & Riley, who also play in The Onlies, an award winning old time stringband that Riley co-founded in Seattle at age 7. In that role, they serve as co-artistic directors of The Festival of American Fiddle Tunes. In both preserving traditional music and bringing their own original folk music to new territories and audiences, it is clear that Viv & Riley have much to do with the present and future of roots music.

The Folly Brothers

The Folly Brothers

11 Apr 2026 - 11 Apr 2026

Warwickshire-based bluegrass band THE FOLLY BROTHERS began when brothers Mark and Jonny Roden started playing in pubs and clubs in and around their stomping ground, Leamington Spa. Inspired by outlaw country legends such as Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, their blend of rollicking bluegrass and introspective lyrics was a huge success in their hometown. Double bass player Wes Stanton soon joined the band and they enjoyed success as a trio, going down a storm on the festival circuit with slots at Black Deer and renowned folk venue The Green Note. In 2016 the band released their debut album, Bridge 101, named after the bridge near their father's pub where they first began playing together. A brutally honest blend of smoking hot bluegrass and Americana, the album delves into traditional outlaw country music with an unmistakably modern twang. But it's their live performance that sets this band apart from the rest. They are renowned for whipping up a frenzy at every gig they play, often moving into the crowd to play songs with the audience dancing around them. Fierce banjo chops and rapid slap-double-bass are the backdrop for Mark and Jonny's harmonies, while newest member Alfie Amadeus plays melodic solos on mandolin or dobro.
The Swaps

The Swaps

17 Apr 2026 - 17 Apr 2026

Finalists in the 2025 UK Blues Awards, THE SWAPS are Beth Brooks (vocals), James Knight (guitar and vocals), and Adam Phillips (guitar and vocals). They have been honing their blend of blues, soul and folk for many years in different line-ups but have recently found the real magic (and national recognition) as an acoustic trio. The Swaps build most of their music around Beth's jaw-dropping vocals (magic in that voice Blues in Britain) and the instinctive guitar interplay between James and Adam (awe-inspiring ... acoustic music at its very best Blues Matters). The dynamics and variety of textures they achieve with only two instruments and three voices is astonishing. All three are songwriters, which perhaps explains the variety and exceptional quality of their material. The Swaps host the monthly blues club at Temperance in Leamington Spa, which sells out as soon as tickets are made available. They usually headline the show, with guest sets from some of the best-known names in UK (and sometimes international) blues. This year The Swaps were nominated for five UK Blues Federation Awards, including best band and best vocalist (Beth Brooks). The Swaps have supported Erasure on a UK tour and have played with folk legend Tim Edey, Geno Washington, John Primer (Muddy Waters guitarist), Stevie Watts, Greg Coulson, Steve Walwyn (Dr. Feelgood), Jonathan Read (The Specials), Tommy Allen (Sugarbabes) and many more. The Swaps have played all over the UK including at Ronnie Scott's and the Roundhouse in London. The Swaps are played regularly on local and national radio and their new release The Swaps Live at Upton has been featured on the BBC as well as many different specialist blues radio stations. It has been called fabulous, 'superb and haunting in its beauty by Blues in Britain magazine.

Spottiswoode + Kenny White

Spottiswoode + Kenny White

22 May 2026 - 22 May 2026

Spottiswoode Album Release Party / Double Bill with Kenny White SPOTTISWOODE is an award-winning bandleader, singer-songwriter and scriptwriter. For the past two and a half decades, the Anglo-American has been the frontman of Spottiswoode & His Enemies, a septet that has become a New York institution. The New Yorker refers to him as a genius and downtown ringleader. With the band, he has released seven acclaimed records, performed numerous Manhattan residencies, and toured extensively from SXSW and Lille Europe to Lincoln Center. Spottiswoode's music travels the gamut, drawing comparisons to Leonard Cohen, Ray Davies, Tom Waits, Randy Newman and Jim Morrison. Still, he's very much his own man. He evokes real emotions, sometimes different ones in a single song (Dan Reed, WXPN). His songs have been featured in a wide variety of films and television shows. He has been nominated for multiple Independent Music Awards, the piano ballad, Chariot, earning him the prize for Best Adult Contemporary Song. His rock musical, Between The Angel And The Old Kent Road, was just workshopped in January and presented as a staged reading to potential investors at the Seven Dials Playhouse in Covent Garden. His feature screenplay, Either Side Of Midnight, was recently shot in New York City and helmed by James Bond director, Roger Spottiswoode - remarkably, no relation! Spottiswoode's latest album, IT WASNT IN THE SCRIPT, focuses on the joys and humiliations of fatherhood and getting older. He looks forward to touring with it in Europe and the United States for much of the rest of 2026. KENNY WHITE comes to the world of the touring singer-songwriter following a long and successful musical journey. An accomplished pianist, who also performs on guitar, Kenny has now become more known for his clever lyrics. LONG LIST OF PRIORS, his aptly named current album, is the latest collection of original songs: snapshots of the human condition. Audiences often comment that a Kenny White concert moves them to laughter and tears sometimes within the same song! If Mark Twain could sing and play piano like a virtuoso, his name would be Kenny White. Stu Kuby, The Strand, Hudson Falls, NY. Kenny recently completed an 18-month tour performing his original songs while traveling as the opener for Stephen Stills & Judy Collins, and has toured for many years with Cheryl Wheeler.
Lachlan Bryan + Hannah Aldridge

Lachlan Bryan + Hannah Aldridge

28 May 2026 - 28 May 2026

After years of shared stages, studios, and stories, Hannah Aldridge and Lachlan Bryan bring their deeply intertwined musical worlds to Europe this May for a series of intimate performances. Their collaboration runs deep: Bryan produced and co-wrote Aldridge's cinematic album Dream of America and appears on her recent Live Band record, while Aldridge has long been part of Bryan's creative orbit. Together, they share a reverence for narrative songwriting, dark humor, emotional honesty, and the kind of songs that linger long after the last note fades. These duo shows strip everything back to the bones voice, piano, guitar, and two seasoned storytellers in conversation. Expect reimagined songs from both catalogs, shared stories from the road and the studio, and moments that feel less like a concert and more like an invitation into a late-night confessional. This is Southern gothic meets Australian noir, equal parts tenderness and bite, delivered by two artists at the height of their powers. Hannah Aldridge Raised on the muddy banks of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Hannah Aldridge writes songs shaped by Southern mythology, rebellion, and self-reckoning. The daughter of Muscle Shoals legend Walt Aldridge, she began as a classically trained pianist before finding her true voice as a songwriter in her twenties. Her records from Razor Wire and Gold Rush to the live album Live in Black and White have earned international acclaim for their blend of grit and grace. Aldridge's ambitious album Dream of America expanded her sound into cinematic, noir-tinged territory, pairing haunting vocals with darkly romantic storytelling. Whether on a highway stereo, a European rock club stage, or a quiet listening room, Aldridge delivers songs that confront demons without surrendering to them. Lachlan Bryan Over more than a decade, Lachlan Bryan has established himself as one of Australia's most respected songwriters a master storyteller whether performing solo, fronting his band The Wildes, or collaborating in projects like The Pleasures with Catherine Britt. His songs balance sharp social observation with deeply personal reflection, marked by dark wit, emotional depth, and a restless sense of romance. Bryan has toured extensively across the world, sharing stages with artists such as Justin Townes Earle, John Hiatt, and Shawn Colvin, while his albums with The Wildes have received critical acclaim and chart success in Australia. Renowned as a captivating live performer, Bryan thrives in intimate settings, where his troubadour instincts and narrative command shine brightest making this duo tour a perfect setting for his craft.

Over an array of unconventional guitar tunings, Ruth sings stories of the known universe with captivating vocal dexterity and poetic originality. Backed by soulful male vocalists, she moves almost recklessly between pacey political passages, stomping slide guitar, and enchanting piano pieces that conjure the compositional freedom of a young Keith Jarrett, with the timeless qualities of such artists as Carole King and Nina Simone. Turning her music on its head at every opportunity, Ruth's natural lyricism and deliberate turn of phrase is that of a skilled writer in command of, and having fun with, the idea of contemporary songwriting. And one gets the impression this unique british artist is only just getting started. Ruth will be performing the new single from 'Cactacus' her anticipated fourth album which she recorded with producer and bassist Todd Sickafoose (Anais Mitchell/Ani Difranco). Ruth travelled and played her way through California and up into Oregon to work alongside a stellar cast of musicians including organist Rob Burger (Tom Waits, Willie Nelson), percussionist Mathias Kunzli (Regina Spektor, Lauryn Hill), and Violinist Jenny Scheinman (Lucinda Williams, Lou Reed). Patakas

8 Jul 2026 - 8 Jul 2026

Exceptionally talented brothers Joe and Will Sartin launched their first recording ‘When You’re Ready’ with festival performances in summer 2023. Bringing driving rhythms and innovative harmony to their fresh interpretations of traditional music and their own original tunes and songs, the brothers beautifully and skilfully express the music-making and folk tradition that runs through the very core of their family. Their debut EP was made during the six months after their well-loved father Paul Sartin, passed away. Joe and Will’s maternal grandfather, Doug Bailey, recorded and produced this album at Wild Goose Studios in Hampshire, thereby bringing things full circle for the family; their father’s own debut record with Belshazzar’s Feast was recorded with Doug at the same studio in 1996. Will is a member of the popular 5-piece festival ceilidh band, Out of Hand, and Joe is in his final year of a music degree and pursuing projects in folk, jazz and rock; influences which contribute to the unique musical identity of Patakas. Both brothers were members of the National Youth Folklore Troupe of England (NYFTE) in their younger years. ‘As a debut recording, ‘When You’re Ready’ is a very fine piece of work and if you ever worry that the folk movement may be running out of steam I urge you to listen to Joe and Will.’ - Folking.com ‘Skilful and innovative... Joe Sartin’s vocals are strong and clear, Will’s mandolin dexterous and fluid... Thresherman, a 19th-century broadside, is an album highlight on which Will’s beautiful mandolin lines trace silver around Joe’s excellent vocal as the tale is told of a hard-working family man.’ - Folk Radio ‘A surprisingly assured debut. The tune sets provide a showcase for Will’s speedy fingers, the highlight being his natty take on David Kosky’s ‘Mystery Itch’, which manages the rare feat of leaping about whilst retaining a wistful air.’ - Tradfolk.co

In his later years, Michael Hurley (19412025) was based in Portland, Oregon. Webster‘S Ragtime Trio

Webster‘S Ragtime Trio

13 Jun 2026 - 13 Jun 2026

Webster's ragtime trio is a central Texas based throwback to a style of music that went largely unrecorded. Around the turn-of-the-century, it is said that there was lots of string bands, i.e. mandolin, banjo, guitar, bow cello, playing the popular hits of the day including classic ragtime compositions like the Maple leaf rag. Although that type of music was composed for marching bands and solo piano performance, it is hard not to notice how joyful it sounds played on acoustic stringed instruments. And they dont stop there, they more than dip their toes into ragged Texas Fiddle tunes from the 78 RPM era, even venturing across the pond to play the occasional archaic Polish mazurka, and/or striking up borderland polka Harkening back to the glory days of Tejas. Alexander Jones, Will Webster, and Westen Borghesi make up this fine trio.

An Intimate Evening With Richard Shindell
Richard Shindell lives as both an immigrant and emigrant, crossing thresholds, that informs his illumination of the human experience through narrative song. Shindell has inhabited a Zen Buddhist monastery, busked in the streets of Paris, opened for Joan Baez (who covered several of his songs), and collaborated with Grammy-winner Larry Campbell (Bob Dylan, Levon Helm, Elvis Costello). Originally from New York, now living in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Shindell is a writer whose songs paint pictures, tell stories, juxtapose ideas and images, inhabit characters, vividly evoking entire worlds along the way and expanding our sense of just what it is a song may be. Meticulously recorded over three years in New York and Buenos Aires, his most recent release, Careless, offered an ambitious, luxurious, full-length statement. Shindell immersed himself in the studio, allowing the time and latitude to explore, experiment, take risksto playas each of these eleven songs was given form and substance. While his signature acoustic guitar style is used to good effect, Careless also found Shindell plugging in more. The wider sonic and dynamic range of the electric has been a real inspiration. Rejuvenating. During the pandemic, Shindell stayed in Argentina, out on the wide open Pampa, reading, writing, taking walks, doing a little experimental recording, and tending the garden. He now returns to the road for a limited number of performances. Innovative, original and occasionally spiritual, Shindell's songs weave tales that interchangeably champion the downtrodden, exalt the disaffected or wax empathetic to those lost to society's fringes. From lighthearted ballads and adulterous love songs, to dirges and diatribes that skillfully skewer politics, prejudice, war and religion, to the comic point-of-view of a cow stuck in a barbed wire fence, he has a unique ability to morph into the soul of the many and varied personalities he casts as narrators in certain songsveritable novellas framed in haunting acoustic melodies. "Occasionally an artist has a night that makes even sceptics think, O.K., maybe he is the best. Richard Shindell achieved this." Ann Powers, NY Times

Vocals, banjos, guitar, washboard, double bass, mandolin, fiddle and drums combine. Reviewers have attempted to pin them down as a bubbling fountain of virtuosic insanity and bonkers but brilliant. Jaimee Harris

Jaimee Harris

22 Nov 2026 - 22 Nov 2026

Jaimee Harris's sophomore effort Boomerang Town marks a bold step forward for this country-folk-leaning singer-songwriter. It is an arresting, ambitious song-cycle that explores the generational arc of family, the stranglehold of addiction, and the fragile ties that bind us together as Americans. Harris began cultivating Boomerang Town in 2016, a time of great loss for many in the Americana community, with the songwriter losing several musicians close to her. A shift in the nation's political landscape had ushered in a new level of cultural polarization and for someone who grew up in a small town outside of Waco, Texas, Harris believed the values instilled by her parents were not entirely in line with how many were viewing, and vilifying, Christians. As a person in recovery, Harris has had to re-evaluate her own connection to faith and find strength in a higher power. It was from the intersection of these social, personal, and political currents that the album was born. While themes of addiction and grief permeate sections of the record, it echoes hope in the face of the darkness. Out February 17th, Boomerang Town understands that love and grief are two sides of the same coin.

Drawing inspiration from a range of traditions including folk, gospel, country, the blues, rocknroll, jazz and psychedelic music, youll rarely see Holt perform the same set list, or even with the exact same band, who are hand-picked for each show from a small pool of some of London's top musicians. On any given night you might hear piano, organ, drums/percussion, violin, bass, horn or guitar (be it electric, pedal/lap steel or resonator), all propelled by the enigmatic Holt's mesmeric vocals, rhythm guitar and saxophone. To borrow a phrase coined by John Peel about legendary Prestwich band The Fall: they are always different, they are always the same. Holt has previously shared the bill with such iconic musicians as Tom Paley, Spider John Koerner and Bonnie Dobson. Not to be missed! Singer-songwriter Juliet Garrett's music is a remedy for the soul (Camden Live). Raised on a small island in New York State and currently based in Brooklyn, her mesmerising performances have graced stages across America and Europe, winning over hearts and fans along the way. Described as unique, fresh, and powerful (Cheers to the Vikings), Juliet's music evokes comparison to the best seventies songwriters while still remaining fresh (Independent Music News). For fans of Regina Spektor, Joni Mitchell, and honest, classic songwriting, a night with Juliet is guaranteed to leave you feeling warm, uplifted, and a little more connected. Juliet's new album, produced with longtime collaborator Godfrey Furchtgott (Demi Lovato, Grace VanderWaal), mixed by George Perks, and mastered by Joe Lambert is scheduled for release in 2026.

Anna Pool sings Dory Previn with guest Nina Harries
“There is nowhere to turn to, but to yourself.” In this powerful show, composer and vocalist Anna Pool celebrates the life and legacy of one of the 20th century’s most distinctive, and too often overlooked, songwriters - Dory Previn. Joined by double bassist Nina Harries, Anna traces Dory’s extraordinary journey: from her early success as a lyricist writing for legends such as Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra, to her evolution as a fearless solo artist whose deeply personal folk albums captivated hearts and led her to Carnegie Hall. Unflinchingly raw, by turns comic and poetic, Dory’s songs explored everything from Hollywood dreams to devastating psychosis to the fervent power of road rage. With wit, candour and compassion, Anna and Nina reimagine this remarkable catalogue, illuminating both the courage and vulnerability that defined Dory’s work. A rare opportunity to experience these songs anew, this performance brings Dory Previn’s legacy out of the shadows and into the light - vibrant, defiant, and unmistakably her own. Anna Pool is a composer and performer working across theatre, folk music and opera. She is ¼ of genre-bending folk quartet, Wise Woman playing across the UK from Celtic Connections to Aldeburgh Festival. Nina Harries is a double bassist and songwriter whose work has toured the world alongside the likes of Anoushka Shankar, Akram Khan and Katie Melua. “astonishingly gifted” - FATEA “A thing of wonder,” - Folk/Tumble
Tom Kitching and Jennifer Reid - Bitter and Mild
Tom Kitching and Jennifer Reid present their new show, ‘Bitter and Mild’, a tongue-in-cheek celebration of their native North West of England, through songs, stories, and a skeletal horse. Flitting between timeless rural Cheshire and ever-changing industrial Manchester, ‘Bitter and Mild’ is a fast-paced, anarchic, singalong ramble and rant through those steadfast and vital traditions upon which we lean as we seek to make sense of the bewildering changes wrought by industrialisation and modernity: singing, dancing, drinking, making giant puppets out of expired farm animals. Fiddle player and author, Tom Kitching has worked with numerous singers and bands, including Pilgrims’ Way, Gavin Davenport, Jon Loomes, Gren Bartley, Zoe Mulford, and Albireo. Rooted in archives and oral histories, Jennifer Reid‘s work braids nineteenth-century music with the present: teaching, performing, researching, sharing, advocating and supporting spaces for memory and making in the tradition.

Sevdalides: Songs of Love and Farewell
Sevdalides are excited to be back at the Green note, this time with maestro Pavlos Carvalho on the double bass and the sweet Glykeria Kissa on vocals. We have selected a series of well known Rebetiko and Laiko songs whose lyrics revolve around the idea of Love and Farewell. This is a tribute to all those people who have migrated, lost a home, found love, lost love and generally suffered in the hands of life. We Greeks are people of the sea, we are travellers, seafarers, traders; but above all, we are aisthimaties. This word might not have a direct translation but it refers to the fact that we are being driven with hope, that one day we will come back to our loved ones. Our heart is the pilot boat that will bring us to port, back home to Piraeus and to the brown eyed muse that is waiting for us.
Daniel James Mcfadyen (Matinée Performance)
Daniel James McFadyen is an award-winning indie-folk artist whose expressive lyricism, charismatic stage presence, and road-worn storytelling have made him one of Canada's most compelling contemporary voices. His 2025 sophomore album, Back To The Country (LHM Records), marks a defining moment in his artistic evolutionan intimate, organic, and boldly confident full-length that leans into the Americana/Canadiana textures he has grown increasingly known for. Recorded live off the floor in a cabin on British Columbia's Shuswap Lake with producer Cole Friesen, the album captures an unpolished, lived-in warmth. Across its 11 tracks, McFadyen weaves themes of disillusionment, hope, daydreaming, heartbreak, humour, and the search for home. From the barn-burning stomp of Spinnaker (Im Leavin), to the wistful ache of Hurt My Heart, to the wry charm of Landmine, Back To The Country showcases a songwriter stepping fully into his voice. McFadyen's rise has been powered equally by his dynamic, deeply interactive live shows. His cross-Canada tours have sold out major venuesincluding Toronto's Great Hall, Halifax's Marquee Ballroom, and Ottawa's Overflow Brewingcultivating a devoted and ever-growing fanbase. In 2024, he earned three Music Nova Scotia Awards, the most of any artist that year, cementing his status as a breakout performer. Now in 2026, Daniel James McFadyen continues to carve out his place within the modern folk landscapebridging heartfelt storytelling with the communal spirit of classic Canadian songwriting. With Back To The Country defining a new era in his sound, McFadyen stands firmly at the forefront of a new generation of Canadian troubadours

Carter Sampson

Carter Sampson

16 Jun 2026 - 24 Jun 2026

The Oklahoma City-based artist is blessed by a musical family legacy that includes talents like Roy Orbison. Her journey as a naturally independent, free-spirited musician has seemed almost predestined at times. At age 15 she began experimenting with sound as a way to pass the time; now her creativity has matured into the dedicated and passionate performance that makes her a favorite female vocalist. I'm pretty much the same me working on the same goals maybe a little more grown up. I think I am more confident than I was when I first started playing. I've always been brave, but I'm more sure of myself now, Sampson exuded. As a relatable artist, her empowering music appeals to a wide range of folks, who are incredibly and admirably loyal to her and her work. She's the founder and director of Oklahoma City's Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls, which always partners with nonprofit organizations that empower girls and women through music education. The inspiring artist also averages about 220 shows annually in areas like Oklahoma and Arkansas, as well as Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. But as the self-penned 'Queen of Oklahoma,' Sampson's red boots are happiest when they're on her home turf. I am proud to be from Oklahoma and really proud of the music that is coming out of the state right now. I wish we were more progressive in a lot of areas, but it feels like slowly change is happening. Though she travels for the love of making music, she's no stranger to awards. She was named a Top 12 Finalist in the 2012 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest and performed at Lincoln Center in New York. This year, she won first place in the general category of the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest in Wilkesboro, N.C. with her song Wild Bird, which was additionally released by Pinecastle Records. She also won fourth place in the Colorado-based Telluride Troubadour Contest at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and was a Top 10 Finalist in the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival's Songwriters Showcase in Lyons, Colo. Her third album, Good for the Meantime, was released in 2008. Then in 2011, she launched a Kickstarter project for Mockingbird Sing, in which she gave supporters rewards to help secure adequate funds within 30 days. After that huge success, she recorded a five-track acoustic EP, Thirty Three, at Treelady Studios in Pittsburgh/Turtle Creek, Penn. I feel like I am right where I am supposed to be doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing, Sampson said, reflecting on the long road that led to right now. Her fourth full-length studio album, Wilder Side, was released on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016. Like Good for the Meantime it features the heady handywork of producer/multi-instrumentalist Travis Linville, who, like Sampson, has a unique sound all his own. I loved working with Linville on Good for the Meantime; he was so laid back, encouraging and fun to be around. I'd been thinking about asking him to engineer my new project, and when I heard his last EP (Sun and Moon) I knew I wanted him to help me with it (Wilder Side). I love the dreamy feel that EP has and there's a lot of that on Wilder Side, Sampson said.

Maydan Ensemble

Maydan Ensemble

9 Jun 2026 - 9 Jun 2026

The Maydan Ensemble of the North London Jazz Collective is a special new quartet that blends modern jazz with Arabic, Anatolian and Persian folk music, and is delighted to debut at the Green Note after a series of celebrated sold-out gigs around London. It is a fully international group comprising some of London's busiest jazz musicians in a totally unique setting: acclaimed Irish-Iranian jazz guitarist Kourosh Kanani (Ibrahim Maloof, Ali Azimi etc.) one the finest Iranian folk musicians in London, Parham Bahadoran on reeds (zurna, duduk and more) Italian-English bassist and stalwart of the London jazz scene Lorenzo Morabito (Giacomo Smith, Peter Horsfall, Mark Kavuma etc.) Londoner Robbie Ellison (Steve Fishwick, Frank Basile, Sara Dowling, Eric Alexander etc.) on drums. - Rising star Egyptian singer Amena El Adb The group explores the intersection of jazz and a bricolage of Middle Eastern musical traditions from two perspectives: that of material from the jazz canon inspired by West Asia; and that of the group's own jazz-flavoured arrangements and renditions of Arabic, Anatolian and Persian folk tunes. Maydan means town square or public meeting-place. Originating in Farsi, the word now finds usage in Arabic, Turkish, Urdu, Georgian and Ukrainian. In taking this name, the group recognises first and foremost that diverse musical traditions find commonality by their grounding in communal life and social practice, while embracing the subversive political potential of music as a collective, convivial act.

Bob Sumner

Bob Sumner

31 May 2026 - 18 Jun 2026

Singer-songwriter Bob Sumner cites the musically progressive sensibilities of his heroes when talking about the spirit of his new album, Some Place to Rest Easy. They were always creating something new, something different, he says of idols like George Jones, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings. With that ideology in mind, Sumner set about creating an album that takes as much inspiration from the audio production of Randy Travis as it does the lyrical soul of Big Thiefs Adrianne Lenkera melding of eras, sounds, concepts, and stylings thats informed by the past, but never bound by it. Sumners music has always been about more than a single sound, influence, instrumental, or clever line . I always want people to feel something, Sumner explains. If I heard that this album helped somebody that was feeling down, even just by feeling some other emotion for a little while, that's the number one thing for me. Sumner has provided opening duties for the likes of Colter Wall, Willie Watson, Kelsey Waldon, Corb Lund, and J.P. Harris. In Texas, while on a support tour he was invited onstage by new friend and admirer Hayes Carll, and at a showcase in Nashville, Sumner planted his flag at the world-famous Bluebird Cafe, fulfilling a lifelong dream in the process.
Soundings Presents... Featuring Katy Pinke
Each track on Katy Pinke's Strange Behaviorher viscerally affecting big swing of a sophomore recordfeels like an act of transformation. In the Manhattan-based singer-songwriter, painter, and actor's songs, characters navigate through persistent emotional adversity, push against the limitations of their understanding, and make peace with ambiguity. Pinke outlines their trains of thought in a lithe soprano that recalls Connie Converse or Blossom Dearie, within angular songforms that bring to mind Bill Callahan and Syd Barrett's winding musical syntaxes. Her avant-rock arrangements are full of playful and unnerving complications, with contributions from multi-instrumentalist/co-producer Nico Osbourne, guitarist Will Graefe and drummer Jeremy Gustin of Star Rover, and more. Across a given song, Pinke exhaustively follows an emotional event from start to finish, moving from a modest kernel of thought to a final offering-up of the self to fate, the cosmos, or to one's own mercy (see Strange Behavior, where the band and Pinke explode in the final moments, finally acting out the behavior). Through this process, she helps her narrators work towards a clearer view of themselves, underscoring their trajectories with odd electroacoustic flourishes and full-tilt rocknroll interjections. Few songwriters reach as tirelessly and earnestly toward revelation with as much single-mindedness and generosity of spirit. -Winston Cook-Wilson, NYC, November 2024

Gustaf Ljunggren (Matinée Show)

Gustaf Ljunggren (Matinée Show)

20 Jun 2026 - 20 Jun 2026

Swedish multi-instrumentalist Gustaf Ljunggren brings his new album Along The Low Road to London for an intimate solo performance, weaving together guitar, lap steel, ukulele and piano in a quietly spellbinding live experience. Following the success of Floreana (2022), Ljunggren's latest work invites listeners into a reflective, immersive sound world shaped by minimalism, jazz, early music and Nordic folk traditions. His compositions unfold with patience and clarity, balancing delicacy with emotional depth in music that feels both grounded and expansive. Performed solo, these pieces take on a new immediacy, each moment shaped by the room and the audience. Ljunggren's approach is rooted in listening as much as playing, creating a space where stillness, tone and subtle shifts in mood carry equal weight. Along The Low Road is a quietly powerful body of work that offers calm, connection and a sense of perspective. This is a rare chance to experience one of the Nordic scene's most distinctive voices up close.
Sevdalides: Tribute to George Zambetas
Sevdalides Music group, in collaboration with Miss Catherine Clambaneva, re back at the Green note, this time with a tribute to George Zambetas. Zambetas was a Sevdalis himself. I tend to think of him as a true, pure of heart person and musician. He never took money for his contribution in films. He only got paid through Royalties. Zambetas loved Athens, he loved Greece, he loved life. We are not trying to replicate his sound in any way as this would be impossible. This concert is a tribute from three Sevdalides to another. We commemorate the man, the musician, the kind human he was. It is therefore with pride that we present a selection of Zambetas; masterpieces. Some known, some not so much...

After a global pandemic cut short their first tour after just a single sold out gig, the band retreated to their songwriting rooms to work on their debut album, "The Bird, The Book & The Barrel". The album was released in June 2021 and was well received, spending 8 months in the Official UK Folk Albums Chart. The follow up, "Petrichor" was released in March 2023, and immediately followed suit, entering the chart at #31. A live performance involves easy interchanging of instruments, including guitar, ukulele, bass and percussion at different points. There's always a fun intimacy to the show, with the group engaging in comfortable repartee with each other and the audience like a group of old friends.
