Ida Wenøe & Samantha Whates

Ida Wenøe & Samantha Whates

19 Apr 2026 - 19 Apr 2026

When Ida Wenøe and Samantha Whates take the stage together, it's not your typical double headline show where one artist follows the other. Instead, they weave their performances into something far more collaborative and unexpected. The two songwriters combine their set lists into a seamless flow, often without revealing who wrote which song. This approach creates a narrative that goes beyond what either achieves alonean unfolding story that draws you in, song by song. Rather than stepping aside, they share the stage from start to finish, featuring on each other's songs with harmonies, instrumental layers, and a natural ease that comes from genuine connection, respect and long time friendship. Expect two full sets that are immersive, multi-instrumental, and brimming with warmth, love and laughter. One of the most striking aspects of their collaboration is how it defies the competitive edge often projected onto women in music. Here, you witness the opposite: two artists lifting each other up, creating space for their songs to breathe together, and celebrating what happens when voices, stories, and talents intertwine. This is a performance that's part concert, part conversation, and wholly uniquean evening where the joy of collaboration takes center stage.

24 Mar 2026 - 24 Mar 2026

Sniff'n'the Tears Acoustic is the duo project of Sniff'n'the Tears singer and songwriter Paul Roberts and original 'Sniff' guitarist Les Davidson. The duo perform a stripped back acoustic set exploring songs from the band's 1979 worldwide hit Driver's Seat, to the duo's acoustic album 'Jump' released in 2020. Poetic lyrics contrast day to day life and love with darker observations on the state of the world, and are interwoven with diverse and intricate guitar melodies. The acoustic gigs have opened up a new way to present the songs and connect to an audience, with Roberts describing the project as 'a great way to really explore the songs in the way of the troubadours, off the cuff and from the heart, with less concern for the arrangement.' Since launching the acoustic project in 2018, Sniff'n'the Tears Acoustic have performed a number of Uk shows, including the Acoustic stage at Glastonbury Festival (2023) and performed in the Netherlands.

Sam Lewis

Sam Lewis

17 Mar 2026 - 17 Mar 2026

With rich soulful vocals, well-crafted songs, roots country and blue-eyed soul Sam Lewis is connecting the dots. Whether crossing genres or state lines, he has pieced together a story people need to hear. Music was one of the few constants in Sam's life. His family never stayed anywhere for long, which meant that friendships were forged between himself and the music he absorbed, from Roy Orbison to Van Morrison to Willie Nelson. The influence of Ray Charles can be felt from the first note to the last beat, making Sam's debut a complimentary companion to Charles' own, two-volume Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music. Leaving home as soon as the opportunity arrived, Sam landed in Knoxville, and later Nashville. Sam has spent hours, in fact years, collecting and arranging the relationships and experiences he has forged. To the average person, they seem like an amalgamation of time and happenstance, but to him, they are the moral of the story. I never once felt, in this whole process that someone just kind of pointed. No one took me by the hand, but almost every single one of these connections were very personal. I was introduced to these people that helped make this record. These are gonna be people that I'm going to know the rest of my life. Lewis has drawn us a clear picture of where he's going, and thankfully, he has invited us along for the ride. Jamie T Hailing from North London and Warrington, rock'n'roll three piece Tom Mansi & The Icebreakers have spent the last 10 years honing their sound, playing countless shows across the UK and Europe. All three members are respected professional musicians in their own right, their careers ranging from collaborative work with legendary film director David Lynch to the British musical icon Donovan, and extensive time spent in the vibrant British Burlesque and alternative Cabaret scenes. It is from these experiences that the band have forged their unique sound, channeling in equal measure the rock'n'roll spirit of Sam Phillips' Sun, the electric blues of Howlin' Wolf, the bass heavy jazz attitude of Charles Mingus, the noir themes of Tom Waits, and the electric energy of Captain Beefheart. Above ell else, the super tight sound of the rock'n'roll, rocking blues, rhythm & blues and beyond that Tom Mansi & The Icebreakers bring lights up the room like an arclight- a perfect Saturday night band. The three piece have previously performed at many of the best venues and festivals across the UK and Europe including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, The Big Chill, The Scala and Hammersmith Palais, and have sheared the stage with Son of Dave, Imelda May, Florence & The Machine, The Sadies, Fat Freddie's Drop and countless more across their career to date. This year sees them play the prestigious Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire. New Roots is committed to promoting events that shine a light on up and coming talent in the UK alt-folk scene. It's committed to providing artists with an environment that is sympathetic to what they do, giving musicians the respect they and their music deserves - for this reason we ask for no talking and no use of mobile phones while artists are performing. Influenced by John Prine, Ani DiFranco, and Nanci Griffith, Rita's songwriting weaves together timeless love stories with long drives, porch gatherings, and letters between loved ones. The love stories are unabashedly queer, the porch gatherings are sometimes rowdy, and the conversations often touch on true-to-life mental health challenges. Her debut album, Peaches and Apple Pies, was met with glowing reviews from Americana Highways, Bluegrass Today, and more. Rita Bliss is to her banjo what Alison Krauss is to her fiddle. Theyre both distinctive, melodic, attractive vocally in their showcases & have the tunes to prove it. John Apice, Americana Highways

Ma Polaine

Ma Polaine

7 Mar 2026 - 7 Mar 2026

Ma Polaine's Great Decline are an award-winning band praised by MOJO Magazine for their unique blend of pop, folk, blues, and Americana, embarking on an exciting UK tour following the February release of their fifth studio album, Monster Swan. This album is a return to the grittier, blues side of Ma Polaine, and whilst that influence is evident, the final album still carries their usual hard to pigeon-hole hallmark. Japanese Knotweed flies that flag most strongly, the somewhat unhinged story line backed by a similarly unhinged arrangement. Gasoline Can and Told You Lately hold the most blues about them, albeit from different camps of the genre. With airplay on BBC 6 and BBC Radio 2, and the support of Cerys Matthews, the band's genre-defying charm unfolds through songs that explore the intricacies of human connections, weaving tales of light and dark with uplifting melodies and heartfelt storytelling. Their recent live album release drew this comparison from Fatea magazine: a cocktail that is one part Beth Gibbons from Portishead, a measure of Holiday edge and one part Rockabilly growl. MOJO - 4 stars - "Ma Polaine's Great Decline have evolved a pop-folk-blues- americana style that is warmly familiar, yet is sufficiently unhinged to keep you guessing" Morning Star 5 stars. "Packer's voice has a superb range, but it is her interpretative skill that entrances, with the effortless shifts that imbue her evocative lyrics with rare emotional charge" Folk Radio UK "..an album to be cherished, replete with enchanting musical treats around every corner". Blues Matters "This is 21st-century music chock full of mystery and acute observation" R2 Magazine: an intangible element peculiar to themselves Roots Music Report: it's the singer's compelling and never overplayed delivery, however, that gives this set its sustained, just-under-the surface intensity. Blues And Soul Magazine: The icing on the cake is their vocalist. Stunning singer Beth Packer is someone to get to know.

Jo Carley & the Old Dry Skulls

Jo Carley & the Old Dry Skulls

18 Apr 2026 - 18 Apr 2026

Blues, Skiffle, Calypso and Rockabilly with a creepy vaudeville twist It's music that makes people wanna shake their bones! This trio are known for their unique live show, transporting the audience to a bygone era when witches and black magic were rife. Their songs tell stories of deals with the devil, demons in love, witchdoctors, zombies, ghosts, ghouls, journeys to the deepest jungles and other exotic adventures which are told using sweet melodies and syncopated sounds. Jo Carley: Lead Vocals / Washboard / Mandolin / Percussion Tim Carley: Battered Archtop Guitar / Kick / Rattlin Shoe / Backing Vocals Stephane Spitz: Baritone Saxophone / Beat-up Double Bass / Backing Vocals The music takes influence from early vaudeville blues acts such as Victoria Spivey via Cab Calloway, Wilmoth Houdini and Wanda Jackson, but adding a creepy and theatrical twist that echoes Dr John and Screamin Jay Hawkins. Voodoo has found it's way onto British shores and Jo Carley is the wild and dark demonic music-hall mistress sent to predict hell in a way to entertain and amaze you, telling tales of terror with old-timey flair. She's joined by her songwriting partner and husband, the zombie-like Tim Carley, who drives the sound with blues-soaked rhythms on an old archtop guitar, kick drum, and rattling shoe. Completing the spell is multi-instrumentalist Stephane Spitz, shifting seamlessly between syncopated baritone sax leads and the pulsing heartbeat of the double bass. They are a DIY band, constricted to the beat-up musical instruments they have to hand. This gives them the elements of Skiffle, Blues, Jazz, Rock n Roll, Psychobilly, Rockabilly and Gothabilly. Jo and Tim left the rat race in 2013 to dedicate themselves to music. After a few years of busking around the UK and picking up odd gigs here and there they settled in a beach bungalow by the sea on the East Coast of England where they set up 'The Voodoo Shack', a studio to write and make music. Jo Carley And The Old Dry Skulls live to play live shows and touring the UK and Europe every year. "I can't take my eyes off these guys..., go to see them and expect the outside-of-the-box experience... there is nothing else like this band on the planet" - STEPHEN HARRISON / BLUES MATTERS MAGAZINE "With great lyrics and the combination of haunting ragtime blues they create a stupendously enjoyable jaunt into the darker recesses of voodoo, ... It's superb fun and a real pleasure to just indulge in its lyrics and music..." - Lee Powell / Vive Le Rock 2021 There are dark warnings, powerful accusations, gritty observations and singular attitude... this is a musical heist that robs you of ordinary and replaces it with exceptional" - Folkwords (UK) a macabre fairytale, Naughty creepy and full of sarcasm, So let's shake those bones together! Alexander Carson

Alexander Carson

1 Mar 2026 - 1 Mar 2026

Alexander Carson is a Singer-Songwriter/Composer based in Norwich Norfolk, United Kingdom. Carson first picked up the piano at age 4 (which is especially difficult considering the weight) and was classically trained, their music reflects this discipline and sounds like a cross between Chopin and Rufus Wainwright. Carson will be performing with their new backing band and playing songs from their forthcoming, unreleased album "Triptych." The album explores themes about PTSD around leaving a cult in their teens, estrangement from family and a sense of 'home', and grappling with the concept of mortality. Heavy stuff, but delivered with a playful naivety that makes it not only palatable but compelling. "The level of exploration and care puts me in mind of some of mid Talk Talk's work and also that flare for journey that bands like Alt J have." - Guy Garvey (Elbow) BBC6 Music

Ak Patterson + Minor Gold

Ak Patterson + Minor Gold

11 Mar 2026 - 11 Mar 2026

AK Patterson is a London-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose music blends gritty honesty with haunting beauty. Known for her unflinching exploration of dark and complex themes, Patterson crafts songs that find hope in the bleakest corners of human experience. Described by fans as Buckley with boobs (in reference to Jeff Buckley), she prefers to label her style as modern chamber pop fused with the melancholic spirit of 90s Lilith Fair. At the heart of her performances lies her compelling storytelling and a powerful vocal deliverya skill she honed during her youth, playing violin and guitar in the back of an Irish pub. Her distinctive sound is further defined by an unconventional approach to songwriting and her mastery of unusual guitar tunings. Acclaimed actor and musician Johnny Flynn included her in The Guardian's cultural highlights of 2023 after attending her performance at the Brunel Museum and Guy Garvey on BBC radio said her track The Parting Grace was a bit special. 2025 has already been a milestone year for Patterson, with the release of her third EP Jailbirdan evocative collection of songs drawing on themes of organised crime, her time spent working in a men's prison, and personal struggles with heartbreak and isolation. The EP reflects Patterson's relentless drive to turn adversity into art. This year, she was invited to support Dan Smith from the band Bastille, who said the first single, I Dont Know How to Die, from her EP was hauntingly beautiful. Patterson reflects on her evolving sound: These new songs may seem darker than ever, but they are ultimately about survival, resilience, and, above all, hope. Minor Gold are the award-winning harmony duo of Tracy McNeil (Canada) and Dan Parsons (Australia), winners of the 2024 Queensland Music Award for Folk. Rita Bliss is a folk musician from Rochester, New York and is now based in Austin, Texas. Eve Goodman and SERA

Eve Goodman and SERA

4 Apr 2026 - 4 Apr 2026

Join us for an afternoon with North Wales based singer-songwriters Eve Goodman and SERA’s featuring songs from their Welsh language album Natur, a hymn of love to the cyclical element of women and nature. Ranging from a whimsical sea shanty about a Menai Strait mermaid to an evocative acapella spell-song; from a love song inspired by a moth, to an ode to emotions and the weather, this is a meaningful and creative folk songbook. The album is a rich and varied journey from percussive, hooky ear-worms about burnout and modern life (Anian), to expansive and moving Celtic blessings that sing of reverence for the land (Bendith). Eve Goodman and SERA (Sarah Zyborska) began working together when they were both selected as BBC Horizons Artists in 2019. Both women, with rising solo careers, grew up in Caernarfon, North Wales. After just one writing session they found common ground in their connection to and curiosity around nature. Surrounded by the beautiful North Wales landscape that is such an important part of their lives, they began to explore the Welsh names for birds, trees, flowers and the more-than-human world. The song tendrils soon grew to touch upon the cyclical element of both nature and women. Soon enough a body of work was growing, each song a celebration of both. Natur was born. “We both loved the Spell Songs project (ft. Julie Fowlis, Karine Polwart et al) and the way the songs serve as a call to reawaken our love of the wild. We approached our songwriting with this call in mind in the language of our land, Welsh. As one of the lines in our song Anian says ‘I cofio ein natur, edrychwn ar natur’ (to remember our nature, we look to nature). It’s about accepting our wild nature in an increasingly complex and digitalised landscape.” The album was recorded in Wild End Studio near Llanrwst, North Wales, nestled in the foothills, with co-producer Colin Bass (member of the band Camel and also producer of the Tincian album from 9 Bach which won ‘Best Album’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award in 2015). The duo have appeared on Welsh talk show ‘Heno’ and have recorded a session live at BBC Maida Vale Studios. In 2023 they were finalists in the televised song competition Can i Gymru (Song for Wales), with Tangnefedd, a track from the album. Over the years they have released two popular tracks (Gaeafgwsg and Rhwng y Coed) which have garnered almost 100,000 streams and were playlisted on BBC Radio Cymru. Thanks to a Ty Cerdd Lottery grant and the BBC Horizons launchpad fund, the two were able to write and record Natur, their first album together.

She has worked across various platforms including theatre and storytelling. Her latest album Sealladh (a Gaelic word which at once evokes a view or spectacle, the power of vision and elements of the supernatural) began as a commission for the National Galleries of Scotland, home to a new vast collection of artworks by Scottish painters, a selection of which both inspired and are in conversation with Newton’s music. Each track is based on a particular painting and draws on the mythology, language, history, culture and landscapes that originally set the scene for these artworks. Her previous album To The Awe placed women at the centre of the narrative, at various stages of life and often marking a coming of age and an acquisition of power. The record is a tribute to the women who have inspired Rachel and is influenced by her recent work around the representation of women in the music industry. ‘A striking, pertinent, and entirely enthralling album’ Folk Radio ‘One of the standout musicians of her generation...a really distinctive music maker’ Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2

Vandalia is dedicated to exploring the depth and breadth of American String-band music. Informed by tradition, but not chained to it, the group has found a niche inside of the old-time community as well as in the wider arts world that offers audiences a forward-looking take on traditional acoustic music. Formed from a chance encounter at the 2024 Baltimore Old-Time Festival, fiddler Dakota Karper, cellist Ellen Gira and guitarist Gabriel Furtado met in a late-night afterparty jam session. The three musicians bring something all-their-own to the trio - West-Virginian born and raised, Dakota is steeped in the West Virginia fiddling tradition as the protege of master fiddler Joe Herrmann. A seasoned veteran of the both the D.C. and Glasgow music scenes, Ellen has made a reputation herself as one of the most versatile cellists in the trad world, adding her hallmark chop to countless ensembles and recordings, and stretching the boundaries of style with elements of the Scottish, Irish, American, Scandinavian and Canadian traditions. A classical-to-bluegrass guitar crossover, Gabriel is well known for his front-of-the-beat rhythm playing and driving pocket, heard at countless square dances, bluegrass festivals and jazz clubs in the greater Philadelphia area and beyond. Together the trio creates a version of string-band music you can tap your foot to, or get lost in the details of the melodies. Weaving intricate fiddle and cello lines, gorgeous vocal harmonies, subtle guitar textures and exhilarating rhythmic drive, the pleasure these three musicians have creating and playing together is palpable, both in the studio and on the concert stage.

Catch the Sparrow

Catch the Sparrow

28 Feb 2026 - 28 Feb 2026

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Catch The Sparrow (singer-songwriter Suze Terwisscha van Scheltinga) initially studied to be a jazz vocalist before her love for folk music brought her to the North East of England. She quickly became a fixture on the Newcastle folk scene, performing extensively throughout the region before relocating to London in 2024. A natural storyteller with a keen ear for captivating melodies, her songs effortlessly cross boundaries of style and genre to create a sound that is uniquely her own. As she taps into folk ballads and fairytales, she introduces a colourful cast of scorned wives, sheltered princesses, free-spirited poets, and crossdressing adventurers, shedding a new light on timeless tales. “...elaborate, fairy-like ballads on a bed of piano sounds ... with the violin seeking its own mercurial way throughout.” - New Folk Sounds
Seel & Sanders

Seel & Sanders

11 May 2026 - 11 May 2026

The folk duo Seel & Sanders is the dynamic collaboration between the award-winning, London based singer-songwriter Alex Seel and internationally acclaimed composer and virtuoso bazouki, guitar and ukulele player, Jon Sanders. Their performances touch on influences from traditional & contemporary folk, jazz, arabic, eastern, country, blues and Americana, among others. And the songwriting topics are as equally diverse; such as inspirations from eccentric characters in ordinary life, to a metaphorical mole in the ground, to love in hard times, to gratitude and loss. Music has led Alex Seel from Devon to London to Ireland and back to London again. Through his wanderings, Alex has picked up a finely crafted, rootsy song-writing style with thought-provoking lyrics and a flare for acoustic guitar finger-picking. His influences range from blues, pop and the British Folk Revival guitarists but his sound is all his own. He has a growing reputation as a solo performer, having performed around the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Spain. Jon Sanders is recognised as a virtuoso bouzouki player, tenor ukulele player, drop D and DADGAD guitarist and an internationally acclaimed composer. His composition draws on elements of jazz, gypsy, funk, arabic, latino and Celtic styles, somewhat reminiscent of Sylvain Luc, Pierre Bensusan, Antonio Forcione and James Hill yet instantly different. The two met in Ireland and have found an exhilarating and dynamic combination of songs & instrumentals captivating audiences. “...Make no mistake, the audience raves about the sheer scope of musical interplay and different genres... Sanders with his jazz tinged Irish, Arabesque and world music solos, brought the sonorous experience of compositions from the British song-writer’s new album with almost unbelievable changes in tempo, accompanied masterfully by Seel’s impressive guitar... The audience loved Seel’s folk, pop and blues influenced songs and duos with Sanders”

Jo Harrop & Jamie Mccredie

1 May 2026 - 1 May 2026

Jo Harrop & Jamie McCredie - Together Again After a three-year hiatus from their journey as an intimate duo, Jo Harrop and Jamie McCredie return to the stage for a special evening at Green Note. This performance marks the next chapter in a collaboration that has earned widespread critical and broadcast acclaim. Alongside songs from their much-loved 2020 album Weathering The Storm, the duo will perform stripped-back interpretations from across their wider catalogues, as well as new material currently being written and recorded for their forthcoming album Lighthouses, planned for release in 2027. The Collaboration Weathering The Storm was met with rapturous reviews on release. The Guardian awarded the album four stars, calling it a gem simple, modest and perfect, while Iggy Pop described it as unimaginably good on his BBC Radio 6 Music show. Jo Whiley has repeatedly championed Harrop's work on BBC Radio 2, describing her voice as 'sublime. At the heart of this partnership is a shared commitment to understatement, space and emotional truth. Voice and guitar are given room to breathe, allowing the songs to unfold with clarity and intimacy qualities that have come to define their work together. This gig will be all about sharing a moment, a connection and a passion for their craft and the music they love. Jo Harrop Jo Harrop is an award-winning singer, songwriter and recording artist whose work effortlessly blurs the lines between jazz, blues and soul, with subtle influences of Americana, folk and Latin music. She first came to wider attention when Iggy Pop played her music on BBC Radio 6 Music, calling her a very fine jazz singer, following the release of Weathering The Storm. Her discography includes Weathering The Storm, The Heart Wants (with Hannah V, featuring Christian McBride), When Winter Turns To Spring (with Paul Edis), and The Path Of A Tear, recorded at The Village Studios in Los Angeles and produced by Grammy-winning producer Larry Klein. Harrop was chosen to support Gregory Porter on his 13-date UK tour in 2025, including four nights at London's Royal Albert Hall. Frequently praised for her warm, smoky tone and emotional honesty, Harrop has been nominated twice for Vocalist of the Year. All About Jazz noted her ability to convey a wide range of moods effortlessly and naturally. While Bebop spoken here commenting on an earlier gig at the Greenote noted Harrop's vocals ranged from raw and bluesy to velvety smooth, her phrasing imbued with both classic soul and modern nuance. Jamie McCredie Jamie McCredie is one of the UK's finest solo guitarists and busiest session musicians. He has toured and recorded extensively around the world, working with a diverse range of artists including James Morrison, Roísin Murphy, Emeli Sandé, Will Young, Joss Stone, Beverly Knight, Kid Creole, Tokio Myers, Gilbert OSullivan, Robbie Williams, K.T. Tunstall, Steps, and on numerous film, television and radio sessions. After winning BBC Radio Guitarist of the Year at the age of 19, McCredie established himself as a distinctive voice on the instrument, blending fiery blues-inflected jazz with deep classical knowledge and exceptional technical facility. He has appeared on some of the world's largest stages including Glastonbury, Coachella, Montreux and the North Sea Jazz Festival as well as in intimate venues such as Ronnie Scott's and Cadogan Hall. As a producer and engineer, McCredie recorded, mixed and performed on Weathering The Storm with Jo Harrop, which received numerous Record of the Week accolades and support from Iggy Pop, Jo Whiley, Jamie Cullum and others. In 2023, he won a Parliamentary Jazz Award as producer for When Winter Turns To Spring. He is currently writing and recording his debut solo album.

All the arts are about communication -- if one is to make grand summarizing statements -- and to have two of the arts communicating with each other, prose and music, like birds in a tree in Bushwick, is a brilliant concept that the Bushwick Book Club has invented and continues to practice with great joy and exuberance and beauty. And to repeat myself -- I'm so pleased that my writing caused this lovely group to burst into song. Because what's better than bursting into song Very little!" - Jonathan Ames (Bored To Death, Blunt Talk)

Viv & Riley

Viv & Riley

19 May 2026 - 19 May 2026

Viv & Riley's sound is old-soul roots music to its core, elegantly combining a traditional backbone with the fresh iconic melodies of future-leaning indie-folk, and the tightly wound vocal harmonies of the old-time and classic country music they came from. Although they grew up on opposite sides of the country, Riley in Seattle, Washington, and Vivian in Lexington, Virginia, the two had an instant musical connection upon meeting in 2018. The pair has been collaborating since then, honing their sound playing hundreds of shows across the US, UK, and Canada. Since 2018, theyve recorded and released multiple albums to critical acclaim from the likes of NPR Music, Rolling Stone, and No Depression, and have garnered nearly six million streams on Spotify. A bittersweet nostalgia lies at the heart of Imaginary People, the new album from Viv & Riley, released September 15, 2023 on Free Dirt Records. Over ten tracks, the pair applies an indie roots sheen to newly composed pop gems. Rooted originally in the folk tradition, the pair reframe the production into experimental territory, crafting songs that speak to finding a path forward into adulthood in an uncertain world. The album brings a reflectiveness to summertime jams that speak of uninhibited joy and creative camaraderie. Based out of Durham, North Carolina, theyve tapped into the area's eclectic and collaborative music scene, recruiting Alex Bingham of Hiss Golden Messenger to produce the album. Bingham brings a sunny, lush sound to Viv & Riley's music, moving beyond their earlier country roots and toward a layered sound and sonic experimentation. The songwriting has evolved as well, from the world-weary, stripped-down country songs theyre known for to indie songwriting at turns sweetly sad and gently sardonic. Ultimately, Imaginary People is about carrying and honoring our pasts, about letting that inform our new steps forward. This balancing act is familiar territory for Viv & Riley, who also play in The Onlies, an award winning old time stringband that Riley co-founded in Seattle at age 7. In that role, they serve as co-artistic directors of The Festival of American Fiddle Tunes. In both preserving traditional music and bringing their own original folk music to new territories and audiences, it is clear that Viv & Riley have much to do with the present and future of roots music.
Doctor Millar

Doctor Millar

17 Mar 2026 - 17 Mar 2026

Seán Millar AKA Doctor Millar is, as many know, something of a legend. You may not so we're here to introduce you. An Irish national treasure. The poet Laureate of Dublin's dark side The Irish Times Ireland's Greatest Songwriter Hotpress Magazine Irelands best lyricist The RTE Guide Seán is a musician, writer and global award winning theatre composer for 'Shame' and the off-Broadway smash 'Silver Stars'. A musician's musician, and pretty much one of a kind. His shows are close-up and intimate by design. For him and for his audience. It works better that way. Jack Lukeman, Gavin Friday and Tom Dunne have sung Seán Millar songs. Many musicians such as Francie Conway, Damien Rice and Paolo Nutini have highly praised his lyrical, vocal and musical style. From 80's post-punk iconoclast to the folksy balladeer of the '90s and the critically lauded music theatre composer of the 2K's, he is and always has, at heart, been simply a storyteller. A guy with a melody, a tune and, sometimes, a message. In 2026, he releases his 6th solo studio album 'I Am Vermin' (as usual some friends stepped in to help) and, fair to say, he's lost none of his sometimes uncomfortable if relatable edge. "Real music happens in space and time. Once you started faking that or affecting it, it loses something. We need to put that dark matter back in. For me the gaps, mistakes and hesitancies are the magic, they're a space for the unwanted to fill. Let the vermin in." Seán Millar We hope you can join us for this special event celebrating the release of a final masterpiece that has been nine years in the making. Held in a beautiful intimate living room style award winning venue. Sean is looking forward as ever and would love to have you come, join him and hear some new and some older songs. 'Vermin' welcome, though you don't have to be.

The Folly Brothers

The Folly Brothers

11 Apr 2026 - 11 Apr 2026

Warwickshire-based bluegrass band THE FOLLY BROTHERS began when brothers Mark and Jonny Roden started playing in pubs and clubs in and around their stomping ground, Leamington Spa. Inspired by outlaw country legends such as Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, their blend of rollicking bluegrass and introspective lyrics was a huge success in their hometown. Double bass player Wes Stanton soon joined the band and they enjoyed success as a trio, going down a storm on the festival circuit with slots at Black Deer and renowned folk venue The Green Note. In 2016 the band released their debut album, Bridge 101, named after the bridge near their father's pub where they first began playing together. A brutally honest blend of smoking hot bluegrass and Americana, the album delves into traditional outlaw country music with an unmistakably modern twang. But it's their live performance that sets this band apart from the rest. They are renowned for whipping up a frenzy at every gig they play, often moving into the crowd to play songs with the audience dancing around them. Fierce banjo chops and rapid slap-double-bass are the backdrop for Mark and Jonny's harmonies, while newest member Alfie Amadeus plays melodic solos on mandolin or dobro.

The Swaps

The Swaps

17 Apr 2026 - 17 Apr 2026

Finalists in the 2025 UK Blues Awards, THE SWAPS are Beth Brooks (vocals), James Knight (guitar and vocals), and Adam Phillips (guitar and vocals). They have been honing their blend of blues, soul and folk for many years in different line-ups but have recently found the real magic (and national recognition) as an acoustic trio. The Swaps build most of their music around Beth's jaw-dropping vocals (magic in that voice Blues in Britain) and the instinctive guitar interplay between James and Adam (awe-inspiring ... acoustic music at its very best Blues Matters). The dynamics and variety of textures they achieve with only two instruments and three voices is astonishing. All three are songwriters, which perhaps explains the variety and exceptional quality of their material. The Swaps host the monthly blues club at Temperance in Leamington Spa, which sells out as soon as tickets are made available. They usually headline the show, with guest sets from some of the best-known names in UK (and sometimes international) blues. This year The Swaps were nominated for five UK Blues Federation Awards, including best band and best vocalist (Beth Brooks). The Swaps have supported Erasure on a UK tour and have played with folk legend Tim Edey, Geno Washington, John Primer (Muddy Waters guitarist), Stevie Watts, Greg Coulson, Steve Walwyn (Dr. Feelgood), Jonathan Read (The Specials), Tommy Allen (Sugarbabes) and many more. The Swaps have played all over the UK including at Ronnie Scott's and the Roundhouse in London. The Swaps are played regularly on local and national radio and their new release The Swaps Live at Upton has been featured on the BBC as well as many different specialist blues radio stations. It has been called fabulous, 'superb and haunting in its beauty by Blues in Britain magazine.
Soundings... Featuring Catrin Vincent + Sophie Jamieson
CATRIN VINCENT is a London-based singer, songwriter, producer, and former front-woman of the post-rock/indie group Another Sky, signed to Fiction Records. Catrin Vincent's voice is incomparable. Androgynous, lurching, disorienting, it is delivered as if her very life depends on it. A Guardian journalist wrote of being dumbstruck when she first heard it - Alexandra Pollard wrote about her voice in the Independent in 2020. Beyond the band, Catrin produced her solo record in the throes of the grief, immersed in nature as she lived in a van. The result was Nick Drake inspired instrumental minimalism and musical freedom. She is still signed to Fiction, The Cure's home label. SOPHIE JAMIESON doesnt shy away from discomfort, or life's ugly truths. The subjects of her songwriting are put to unflinching examination, often revealing aspects of the human character that most would rather turn away from. Need, desperation and anger simmer through her songs, but are balanced by an unsentimental acceptance of life's painful contradictions. All of this is carried by a deep, raw voice which pivots from wobbling vulnerability to soaring, pent-up longing unleashed. On stage, Sophie digs deep into the darkest corners of the human spirit. Her performances are inescapably intimate and intense, earning her supports for the likes of Father John Misty, Ezra Furman and Marika Hackman to name a few. Oman Dawn + Louis Alberry + Jial

23 Feb 2026 - 23 Feb 2026

Louis Alberry - Guitarist and songwriter from the rugged Jurassic Coast of Dorset. Alberry writes exploratory songs that weave together fingerpicked folk, jazz harmony, wonky grooves and dusky, languid vocals. The resulting tapestry recalls Nick Drake, Linda Perhacs, Caetano Veloso, JJ Cale, moving nimbly through diverse and verdant musical landscapes. JIAL - JIAL is the instrumental project of London-based guitarist, composer and educator Josh Lamdin. Blurring the line between composition and improvisation, his music is introspective, emotive and often nostalgic in character. In solo performance, Josh delivers intimate acoustic renditions of his compositions. Taking heavy influence from Jazz, Blues, Fusion, Folk and Americana, each performance is unique in its improvisational nature. Showcasing his musicality and virtuosity in its rawest form, he plays with a control and emotional weight alluring to listeners both of, and outside the genre. Omam Dawn transports listeners into dreamscapes of blind birds, talking dolphins, and darker corners of unrequited love. Her latest debut album, Near From Goose Town, has been described as a deeply moving evocative showcase of Dawn's relatability and intimacy (Hard of Hearing Magazine) For this show, she will be performing songs from her debut album alongside new and more experimental songs of space dogs and grumpy donkeys.

Spottiswoode + Kenny White

22 May 2026 - 22 May 2026

Spottiswoode Album Release Party / Double Bill with Kenny White SPOTTISWOODE is an award-winning bandleader, singer-songwriter and scriptwriter. For the past two and a half decades, the Anglo-American has been the frontman of Spottiswoode & His Enemies, a septet that has become a New York institution. The New Yorker refers to him as a genius and downtown ringleader. With the band, he has released seven acclaimed records, performed numerous Manhattan residencies, and toured extensively from SXSW and Lille Europe to Lincoln Center. Spottiswoode's music travels the gamut, drawing comparisons to Leonard Cohen, Ray Davies, Tom Waits, Randy Newman and Jim Morrison. Still, he's very much his own man. He evokes real emotions, sometimes different ones in a single song (Dan Reed, WXPN). His songs have been featured in a wide variety of films and television shows. He has been nominated for multiple Independent Music Awards, the piano ballad, Chariot, earning him the prize for Best Adult Contemporary Song. His rock musical, Between The Angel And The Old Kent Road, was just workshopped in January and presented as a staged reading to potential investors at the Seven Dials Playhouse in Covent Garden. His feature screenplay, Either Side Of Midnight, was recently shot in New York City and helmed by James Bond director, Roger Spottiswoode - remarkably, no relation! Spottiswoode's latest album, IT WASNT IN THE SCRIPT, focuses on the joys and humiliations of fatherhood and getting older. He looks forward to touring with it in Europe and the United States for much of the rest of 2026. An accomplished pianist, who also performs on guitar, Kenny has now become more known for his clever lyrics.
