Dave Malkin & Louis Campbell and Moya Sweeney & Archie Churchill-Moss
Lauded for projects expertly blending tradition and modernity, Dave Malkin (Dipper Malkin) and Louis Campbell (Owen Spafford & Louis Campbell) come together to explore and reframe their instrument, the guitar, and its role in English traditional music. Their debut EP, Bird On A Briar, journeys through melodies from centuries-old manuscripts and the aural tradition, reclaiming arrangements from the English Pastoral School and celebrating the musical idiosyncrasies of England, highlighting the exquisite result of a thousand years of migration and cultural collision, all through a thoroughly contemporary lens. The result is refreshingly considered yet pure, documenting the pair’s attention to detail in arrangement, harmony, tone and phrasing with no overdubs, trickery or gimmicks. Their two flat-top acoustic guitars bloom in the natural reverberance of a church hall in South East London, captured by Malkin’s long-time collaborator Tom Moore. The outcome of a late night conversation between Moya Sweeney and Archie Churchill-Moss lead to decision to create a new body of music exploring the similarities and differences between the Irish and mainland European accordion traditions. Both revered artists in their own rights, with extensive performance experience across the UK and Europe, these musicians met in Derry in 2023 and quickly realised their combined approach to composition complimented each other. The result is a collection of contemporary instrumental music written to be performed on two accordions.

Joana Serrat

Joana Serrat

12 Nov 2025 - 12 Nov 2025

Jezebel Music are delighted to welcome Joana Serrat back to Manchester, as she tours her wonderful new album, Dripping Springs. Special guest to be announced shortly. Joana Serrat For her fourth album in five years, Joana Serrat travelled from her home in Vic, Barcelona to the Texas Hill Country outside Austin. There she teamed up with Israel Nash at his Plum Creek Sound studio near the town of Dripping Springs. For the recording sessions Nash &Serrat corralled a stellar crew of musicians: Joey & Aaron McClellan, (Midlake, BNQT, John Grant, Israel Nash), Eric Swanson & Josh Fleischmann (Israel Nash), Dave Simonett (Trampled By Turtles) and Dennis Love (Futurebirds), as well as Nash himself providing additional guitar and backing vocals. Israel Nash produced the album, with Ted Young (Grammy award winner for The Rolling Stones) on engineering and mixing duties. It was no mean feat to gather all these creative talents and get them working together as a team, but as Israel Nash commented, it was very easy to work with Joana because she knows where she wants to go and she leads us all there. Joana's lyrics are brilliant. She uses images and colours to describe her songs and luckily that's the way we are used to working. Joey McClellan adds, her voice was our guide. The resulting album is unsurprisingly Joana Serrat's most Americana album to date. Mojo described her last album Cross The Verge as Mazzy Star guesting on an early Neil Young demo, but with Dripping Springs she has produced a far more rounded and polished piece of work. Serrat explains, it's an album that deals with farewells but is filled with an optimistic melancholy that doesn't isolate nor enclose the spirit and determination to realise our own dreams. It was a bold move by the young Catalan to cross the Atlantic to work with a bunch of American musicians that she had admired from afar but had never met. What she came away with is, however, nothing short of magnificent and should see Serrat building on her existing achievements which have included a BBC 6Music Recommends Track Of The Week - with Lauren Laverne commenting she's an amazing artist, an astonishing talent and I love her songwriting. Dripping Springs has been chosen one of the Best Albums of The Year at Another Country with Ricky Ross BBC Scotland and the Best Folk /Americana Albumof 2017 on magazine Mondo Sonoro. Within the last year, Joana has toured with The Jayhawks, NekoCas and The Handsome Family, played the main stage at Primavera Sound Festival, Paredes da Coura, Pop Montreal andEurosonic, showcased at SXSW(Austin, TX) andAmericanaFest 2017(Nashville, TN),and has been invited to London in January to showcase at Americana UK Fest 2018.

Emotive songstress, Jennifer Lee Ridley passionately uses influences of a Romantic folk nature to create poignant and touching music. She has studied in depth the poetic nature of song and has a strong affinity with writers such as William Shakespeare, John Keats and William Blake. More recently she has combined these influences with her own song-writing to create more modern fusions whilst carefully retaining the purity of the lyrical content. Her dark warm vocals combined with her individual folk sound mirrors the poetic lyrics which explore the many facets of emotions. This has had a profound effect on her own songs which she continues to develop and enhance through working with other composers, musicians and writers locally and in London. His debut EP Lost In The Swell, an instrumental set of 5 tunes, draws from his musical travels, collaborations across the London folk scene, and traditional Balfolk tunes. Alongside his work as a composer and performer of original material, he plays part in a range of projects including London-based global roots collective Flotsam Orchestra, River Wild, and Alex Connor. Duo Madrugada (Emily Jennings and Cassie Mathews) are a beguiling voice and guitar partnership, weaving captivating arrangements of traditional folksongs. Praised on recital platforms across the UK - recently described as ‘outstanding’ and ‘ravishing’ (FringeReview) - they bring timeless stories to life with haunting intimacy and spellbinding artistry.

Clementine Lovell and Daria Kulesh

13 Dec 2025 - 13 Dec 2025

Described as having a magical voice that ‘resonates and shimmers’ (Americana UK), one of those voices you just can’t ignore, Clementine Lovell’s exceptional musicianship and quality of songwriting draws you in and holds you captive. Her voice has been compared to English greats the calibre of Sandy Denny and Maddy Prior, as well as Joan Baez and Emmy Lou Harris. Clementine’s debut album Westbound, produced by Marion Fleetwood (Feast of Fiddles), is rooted in English and Irish folk and is ‘outstanding’ (Folk London Magazine), ‘spectacular’ (FATEA), ‘stunning’ (Bright Young Folk) and ‘contemporary and innovative’ (Irish Music Magazine). She regularly performs with the Clementine Lovell Trio: Carmen Ruiz Vicente (Savannah Gardner) on percussion and Duncan Menzies (Copper Viper, Club Debris, Perkelt) on fiddle. She has collaborated with James Keay (Sam Lee), Robbie K Jones (Track Dogs) and Ric Sanders (Fairport Convention). She is excited to be co-writing with the incredible Daria Kulesh, and to be sharing the stage with her at the legendary Green Note. Daria Kulesh has been described by Mike Harding as “one of the finest voices and one of the most intriguing and interesting songwriters on the present folk scene”. Her debut release Eternal Child was described as “phenomenal”, her second album Long Lost Home has enjoyed rave reviews and multiple awards, including LCM Album of the Year, her third offering Earthly Delights was named “one of the year’s finest albums” by Folk Radio UK, and her latest studio release MotherLand is “near perfect” and “astonishing”, according to Liverpool Sound and Vision. Daria has toured extensively in the UK and Europe, sharing stories and songs that are deeply personal but feel universal and timeless. Every performance is an “emotional, compelling and uplifting experience”, leaving the audiences “completely spellbound”. Born in Russia but based in the UK for the last 15 years, she fearlessly explores her heritage and turbulent family history in Ingushetia (North Caucasus) with songs that “aren’t just sung, but lived” (FATEA).
Dennis Ellsworth

Dennis Ellsworth

4 Feb 2026 - 6 Feb 2026

Who knows why…and perhaps it’s true that Dennis Ellsworth often gets labelled as a songwriter’s songwriter. His path began with absorbing his parents’ records and cassettes and it progressed to teaching himself how to play guitar so he could write his own songs. Right from the start, he would never want to learn other’s songs. His position is that there is no end to growing as a songwriter. It shows up in his themes, his language, and his ability to switch moods and styles of music to suit his current head or heart space, and it will most certainly transform again and again. In 2012, Dennis left his band Haunted Hearts and started making solo records. Following the release of his David Barbe produced, debut solo album called Dusk Dreams, he began touring in Canada. After meeting a few key individuals, he started touring the UK. For about 6 years, he would come to the UK at least twice a year to promote his releases. In 2019, his daughter was born, and he wanted to spend more time at home, so he slowed way down. He kept writing, recording and releasing new music, but the days of crossing the Atlantic were on hold. The Covid-19 pandemic shut down the world and helped him settle into parenthood. His newest album, Hardcore Freewheelin’ (Tonic Records), was produced by Canadian songwriter and producer, Jim Bryson. It is concise and sonically top tier and it showcases Ellsworth’s versatility exceptionally well. With his brand-new album, as well as a deluxe reissue of his 2013 album Hazy Sunshine on the way, he is making his return to the UK in late January 2026. With him, he will have a standout 4-piece band for maximum enjoyment. Tell your friends!!!

The Vagaband

The Vagaband

17 Jan 2026 - 17 Jan 2026

THE VAGABAND's soulful, rustic approach to their music makes their extraordinary blend of Americana, toe-tapping folk-jazz and soulful rock a unique proposition in an age where music is often presented in a way that is too studied, too knowing and somewhat safe. Their musicianship means that consummate band-leader José McGill can rely on the band for sturdy backing as well as stellar improvisation for the fantastic home-grown repertoire and the inspired cover versions too. The Vagaband are designed to be lapped up in huge gulps by an audience that likes to have all their musical needs satisfied and their dancing shoes cajoled into action as well. They are nigh-on impossible to dislike. Heroes in their home town, walk with them as they take on the world. "The Vagaband - proof that the devil doesn't always have the best tunes...stunning." - Q Magazine
