Martin P Roche: Hallowtide & Darkness Visible
Hallowtide & Darkness Visible by Martin P Roche Hallowtide Sophie has awoken in some woods. Hallowtide Wood. She has no memory of when, how she came to be there. In the dark, in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by confusion, she is discovered by Georgia who isnt lost exactly but appears to have lost herself. Cut off in the enforced solitude and isolation of their surroundings, its more than the woods which appear to be creating shadows. And it is not long before the lines between reality and recollections begin to blur. What can be believed? Who should be believed? What have they accidentally stumbled into? That is, if they ever did stumble. If it ever was an accident. For some things are never really what they seem. Especially on All Hallows Eve. Especially in Hallowtide Wood. Darkness Visible Katherine has decided to see a Counsellor to help her with a fear. Her only fear. One which has been with her, haunted her, for most of her life. It is a fear many of us have had at one time or another and probably grown out of. But her fear has got worse as she has grown older and she can no longer live with it. She is hoping to be fixed by the sessions she has booked with Sarah, her Counsellor, and during her first one, she tells the story, her story; the story of what terrorises her. Can Sarah help her come to terms with her fear? Or is there more to it, more than she is telling her? Facing your fear is to know it. Knowing your fear is to understand it. But believing it? That could take your fear to a completely different place "

Peterloo in Rock

Peterloo in Rock

24 Oct 2025 - 24 Oct 2025

Peterloo in Rock Experience the powerful fusion of classic and indie rock with folk, blues and progressive rock as The Reformers of Peterloo showcase Peterloo in Rock. The show begins in the immediate aftermath of the 1819 massacre, guiding the audience through pivotal reforms of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and culminating in the present day. The principal writer and composer, Robert Carter explains that the early reformers were looking for many things that have now been changed, such as: Fairer distribution of parliamentary seats A voice for the working people of the north Universal suffrage including a vote for all Abolition of the corn laws to allow affordable food Greater equality Despite these historical efforts and successes, Carter poignantly highlights that the struggle for equality continues, as those in power often prioritise their own interests over the welfare of ordinary people. The rich continue to get richer while the poor struggle to make ends meet. In effect, at the root of everything, nothings really changed. This enduring theme of nothings changed resonates throughout the music, offering a reflective and thought-provoking experience. The show will feature a fabulous complementary visual presentation created by famed graphic novelist Polyp (Peterloo Witnesses to a Massacre; Courage), generating a fully immersive audio-visual experience that promises to be emotional, educational and extremely entertaining. Don't miss this unique opportunity to witness a musical journey that blends historical significance with contemporary relevance, all set to an unforgettable soundtrack. Mark your calendars for Friday 24th October and join us at Guide Bridge Theatre for a evening of music, history, and powerful storytelling. This is an event you won't want to miss!
