Take your barbecue skills to the next level with this hands-on, flavour-packed masterclass. Join us for a hands-on session where youll learn how to cook vibrant dishes over open flames. From a mouthwatering grilled beef salad to juicy charred chicken served with an addictive nahm jim jeaw dipping sauce, youll discover how to balance smoky, sweet, sour, and spicy flavours like a pro. Using fresh, seasonal produce from our garden (where possible), youll prepare marinades, punchy dipping sauces, and delicious sides from scratch, before taking it all to the grill. There will be the option to sit down and have lunch together in our beautiful, peaceful garden afterwards. Vegetarian options available - please state any dietaries when booking. What youll learn How to set up and light a barbecue properly How to make delicious Thai marinades for your meats (or veg) from scratch How to prepare cook two different types of meat on the barbecue How to prepare the perfect sides and dipping sauces Key ingredients and flavour profiles Correct cooking and resting Whats included All ingredients and equipment Complimentary refreshments at the start of class Recipe pack sent after the class About your teacher Yvonne Poon is a Chef Educator at Hackney School of Food and an experienced development chef. With a passion for East and South East Asian cooking, she pairs bold flavours with strong technique and as a seasoned grill cook, shell guide you through the skills and confidence needed to cook over fire properly. Location This will take place in our award-winning kitchen and thriving garden in Hackney. Address: Oswald Street, Clapton E5 OBT. Attendance This class is designed for all abilities and anyone who loves learning new skills. We do welcome families but recommend this course for participantsaged 16 and up. Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets Tickets for the three-hour workshop are 65 each. There is anoptional donation of 10 if youre able to contribute a bit more which goes towards us offering subsidised food education classes to schools. We offer2 spaces at a reduced rate (45) for people on a lower incomes (e.g., receiving Universal Credit, unemployed, or students). Refunds/transfers We rely on the income from our classes to fund our not-for-profit. Note: This is a masterclass where you'll learn unique skills, and all funds from the class help Hackney School of Food provide free community classes and subsidised food education for children.
