Rob Auton released his book I Strongly Believe in Incredible Things with Harper Collins in Autumn of 2021 to critical acclaim. The south-west based singer/songwriter Alex Hart has just released ‘VISIONS’ her most exciting and anticipated album to date. At 18 Alex was noticed by producer Neil Stainton who honed her talent, worked with her during her early career and co-wrote and recorded her debut album ‘On This Day’. Alex also worked closely with musician and songwriter Barney Dine from Torbay with whom she co-wrote many songs from this album, songs afterwards and gigged extensively. During this time, she was able to grow as a musician and perfect her craft. From this she collaborated with electronic duo Electronic Youth on a cover of Angie Stones’ “I Wish I Didn’t Miss You” which had huge global radio success reaching No.2 in the Music Week Dance Charts and was supported by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. Young troubadour Connor Selby signed to Provogue Records in December 2022 and has released his major label debut, the self titled Connor Selby to critical acclaim. One of the brightest talents on the UK blues scene. He has been voted “Young Artist of the Year” at the UK Blues Awards for the last three consecutive years (2020, 2021, 2022) and he already has an impressive venue checklist, including Wembley Stadium, where he opened for The Who in July 2019 and has since gone on to play Hyde Park, London, with Pearl Jam, Stereophonics and Johnny Marr in the summer of 2022. Being on tour is something I really enjoy, seeing people and being with people is part of my experience as a performer. I will be playing songs from the Squeeze catalogue and from the solo albums I have recorded over the last 24 years. My story is told through stand up and some sit down, a trip back to my council estate in South London, from my very first lyrical expression to the dressing rooms of this show. My new songs written with Boo Hewerdine tell a story of celebration, 25 years writing lyrics and playing on stages big and small. A journey I look back on with great fondness and gratitude. I can’t wait to climb back on stage and perform, although I have been shy in the past I now find myself feasting on the here and now deep within the shell like of your ear. I will be joined on stage by Melvin Duffy on his pedal steel and together we will deliver an evening of warm and I hope funny stories. Miranda started her career as a musician in 1996 at the age of 18, playing bass guitar in a country rock band. After 2 years touring and playing for line dancing in working mens clubs across Britain, folk-rock band Pressgang were looking for a bass player. Miranda spent the next 2 years touring internationally with them. After a few years of musical promiscuity playing with Firebrand, Little Johnny England, Robb Johnson, Bill Jones, Steafan Hannigan, Reg Meuross, Kirsty McGee, The Phil Beer Band, Martyn Joseph and The Scoville Units; Miranda depped for Pete Zorn in the 2004 Show Of Hands festival band line up. She worked with them for the next 20 years. And thus was born Real to Reel, a live album that really captures the essence and spirit of the band at that time. A few Christmas gigs were then booked, and the Real to Reel Tour was undertaken. No one could have anticipated what would happen to Marillion in 1985. The decision to release Real to Reel enabled the band to concentrate on writing the album that became the biggest-selling of their career: Misplaced Childhood. Achieving Number 1 status in the album charts, it provided massive exposure with top 5 singles chart positions for Kayleigh and Lavender, and a strong chart position for Heart of Lothian too. Brass band enthusiasts have heard of The Woodfalls Band.Woodfalls is a small village 9 miles South of Salisbury and one mile from the beautiful New Forest.There are under 1000 people living in the village, but the enthusiasm for music is traditionally very high and musical talent is in abundance. The original idea to form a band at Woodfalls was by Charles and George Mitchell in 1874 at the foundation ceremony of the new Methodist Chapel.With John Green and other young men from the village they met to form the band.Most were from three families: the Greens, Warners and Mitchells.The earliest recorded event was in 1882, when Captain Foster, of the Salvation Army was improperly imprisoned and on his release was marched through Salisbury to a ‘tremendous reception from the Woodfalls Temperance Band’. The band started contesting in 1906 as the South of England Temperance Band at the South Wiltshire Association Band Contest at Wilton Park.Although unsuccessful, at the same event the following year it won every section it competed in.Latterly successes include twice winning the “Grand Shield”, playing in the elite “British Open”, many appearances at the National Finals in‘The Royal Albert Hall’ and numerous victories at local competitions.The Band are multiple Wessex Champion title holders and notable successes include 4th placeat The All England Masters, Cambridge in 2004 and 6th place at the National Finals at The Royal Albert Hall in 2013 . Chris Lewis, an ex-paratrooper, Had hit rock bottom, suffering with anxiety and depression so severe he would shut himself in his bedroom for weeks. Then, in summer 2017, whilst surfing - His only respite - he cast his eyes along the coast and made an impulsive decision that would change his life. A few days later, on 1st August 2017, With nothing but a broken tent, a borrowed pair of boots and £10 in his pocket, Chris set off to walk the entire UK coastline raising funds for the veterans charity, SSAFA. He had no idea how long it would take him or if it was even possible. What followed was the adventure of a lifetime which turned his life around. 6 years and 19,000 miles later, Chris crossed the finish line with A renewed sense of self-pride, passion and purpose having raised over £500,000 for SSAFA and found a family along the way! “Pre:Fab!: A Sneak Preview”: provides audiences to join Award-Winning Beatles Author, Director and Former Custodian of ‘Mendips’, Colin Hall, in an exclusive peak at excerpts from the new upcoming autobiographical documentary film about the Quarry Men, John Lennon’s very first group formed when Lennon was just sixteen years old. A story rarely told, the film is based on the memoir of Colin Hanton the drummer Lennon recruited to play in the band. Hanton drummed for John for nearly three years which meant he was there the day John met Paul as well as the first time Lennon played The Cavern and the time George auditioned for his place in the group. Colin also performed on the very first recording John, Paul, George and keyboard player John Duff Lowe made - ‘That’ll Be The Day’ b/w ‘In Spite Of All The Danger’. Hanton’s story is unique and until now, largely untold. When he approached Colin Hall to co- author his memoir (for which Hall came up with the title, ‘Pre:Fab!’) little did the two realise how popular the autobiography would become. Almost immediately an offer to turn it into a feature-length documentary came from Great Northern Films based in Florida ... and from there the adventure began. Joining Colin Hanton as he narrates his own story are surviving Quarry Men - Len Garry, Rod Davies, John Duff Lowe and Sir Paul, together with rarely seen footage of original members Eric Griffiths and Pete Shotton. ColinHall co-wrote,narrates andco-directed thefilm. Filmed in Liverpool in the places where the story happened, notable contributors to the story are Mark Lewisohn, Bob Harris, Joe Brown, Billy Bragg and Peter Asher ... to name but a few. During the evening Colin Hall will share excerpts from the film with audiences, telling storiesbehind its making and the writing of the book. He will also present a view of his twenty years as custodian of ‘Mendips’ (ten of which he spent actually living in the house). ‘Mendips’ is, of course, John Lennon’s former childhood home in Liverpool -he might just be persuaded to say a few words about the day Bob Dylan dropped in to say hello. The performance will consist of 2 x 40 mins with 25 minutes or more extracts from the film Pre:Fab!
