Coming straight out of Newport The GLC are officially Britain’s biggest rap group. Known for classics like “Guns don’t kill people rappers do”, The GLC started almost by accident around the turn of the century with Eggsy’s impromptu rap about his tracksuit over a serious piece of music Rhys was working on in the studio. Adam Hussain, Billy Webb, Mystkal, the Maggot, 2hats and Mike Balls convinced Rhys to record the rap. Fuelled by Lambrini, fags, Chicken Tikka Massala and weed they all took to the mic and The GLC’s first album “Don’t Blame the Chain” was born. And so it began, the journey which has so far seen The GLC rise to the top of the charts, perform around the world and at every major festival in the Western Hemisphere and make millions of people laugh along the way. Now many years since that first rap about Eggsy’s tracksuit, the boys are still keeping it real in the rap game and hold the title of the most successful UK rap act ever. To date The GLC have released 18 albums… and amazingly none of them have died yet. You knows it! GLC (Live) plus special guests

Motörheadache is a three piece tribute to Lemmy's musical career with Motörhead from 1975 to 2015. Set up by lifelong Motörhead fan Rob Campbell on Rickenbacker bass and vocals, Rob captures the essence of Lemmy in voice, stage clothes and his grinding mid-range bass sound. As Lemmy Kidderminster, Rob plays a custom built Rickenbastard made my Lemmy's own luthier, which is fitted with the pickups and tuners removed from Lemmy's own Rickenbastard when it was serviced. Rob also has a custom Lemmy 'Murder One' Marshall Super Bass wired to the same specification as Lemmy's and two Marshall 4x15 cabs with 4x12 cabs either side of the stage. The line-up also features Al Leach on guitar and 'Dirty' Dave Nutter on drums with some 'dep' drummers and guitarists to help out with the busy touring schedule. Motörheadache toured the UK extensively in 2016 and embarked on its new UK & European tour on 21st January 2017 with over 60 dates in the diary including large summer festivals such as Hard Rock Hell Road Trip 2017 in Ibiza, Rocker's Reunited Lindos 2017 Festival in Greece and various biker rallys such as Pentrich Rock and Blues, Yorkshire Rock and Bike Festival and Festwich in Manchester. Songs include Ace of Spades, Bomber, Overkill, Iron Fist, The Hammer, Damage Case and the thunderous Motörhead - the last song Lemmy wrote for Hawkwind and the one that gave his new band its name. Motörheadache also play material written by Motörhead from 1983 through to 2015. From Brian Robertson's short stint in1983, to the re-launch in 1984 of Motörhead as a four piece with Wurzel and Phil Campbell on guitars and finally, the longstanding Lemmy, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee era from 1995 to 2015. Songs from this period include Killed by Death, In the Name of Tragedy, Sacrifice, Ramones and Burner. Motörheadache also performs Victory or Die from Motörhead's last studio outing, Bad Magic a song that Lemmy and Motörhead never got the chance to play live in the UK with the cancellation of Motörhead's 2016 UK tour. Motörheadache is proud to help keep alive the music of Motörhead by playing gigs all over the UK and Europe and invites Motörhead fans to celebrate the life and work of a rock icon and legend, Mr Lemmy Kilmister.

With a brooding, powerful sound echoing artists of places afar and time long gone, his enthralling craft defies local comparison in striving towards an aesthetic as much as visual as it is sonic. Balanced with a diverse palette of sounds, Burnside deftly blends alt-folk and elements of the Irish folk song tradition with South American rhythms and Eastern European influences, whilst introducing synthetic and found-sounds, synths loops and crunching beats to create a stormy world that shifts and swirls perspective like a lingering lucid dream.

Benefits

Benefits

Forming in 2019 and consisting of Kingsley Hall on vocals, Robbie Major and Hugh Major on synths and noise, and Jonny Snowball on drums they quickly evolved from a fairly standard IDLES-lite shouty punk rock outfit to a politicised group that merges noise, hip hop, industrial rock, garage and an angry twitter feed to get it’s point across.

Bambara

Bambara

29 Aug 2025 - 3 Sept 2025

One thing you won't be able to avoid on Bambara's Stray is death. It's everywhere and inescapable, abstract and personified - perhaps the key to the whole record. Death, however, won't be the first thing that strikes you about the group's fourth - and greatest - album to date. That instead will be its pulverising soundscape; by turns, vast, atmospheric, cool, broiling and at times - on stand out tracks like 'Sing Me To The Street' and 'Serafina' - simply overwhelming Bambara - twin brothers Reid and Blaze Bateh, singer/guitarist and drummer respectively, and bassist William Brookshire - have been evolving their midnight-black noise into something more subtle and expansive ever since the release of their 2013 debut Dreamviolence. That process greatly accelerated on 2018's Shadow On Everything, their first on New York's Wharf Cat Records and a huge stride forward for the band both lyrically and sonically. The album was rapturously received by the press, listeners and their peers. NPR called it a 'mesmerising...western, gothic opus,' Bandcamp called the "horror-house rampage" "one of the year's most gripping listens," and Alexis Marshall of Daughters named it his 'favorite record of 2018.' Shadow also garnered much acclaim on the other side of the Atlantic. Influential British 6Music DJ Steve Lamacq, dubbed them the best band of 2019's SXSW, and Joe Talbot of the UK band IDLES said, "The best thing I heard last year was easily Bambara and their album Shadow On Everything." The question was, though, how to follow it? To start, the band did what they always do: they locked themselves in their windowless Brooklyn basement to write. Decisions were made early on to try and experiment with new instrumentation and song structures, even if the resulting compositions would force the band to adapt their storied live set, known for its tenacity and technical prowess. Throughout the songwriting process, the band pulled from their deep well of creative references, drawing on the likes of Leonard Cohen, Ennio Morricone, Sade, classic French noir L'Ascenseur Pour L'Echafraud, as well as Southern Gothic stalwarts Flannery O'Connor and Harry Crews. Once the building blocks were set in place, they met with producer Drew Vandenberg, who mixed Shadow On Everything, in Athens, GA to record the foundation of Stray. After recruiting friends Adam Markiewicz (The Dreebs) on violin, Sean Smith (Klavenauts) on trumpet and a crucial blend of backing vocals by Drew Citron (Public Practice) and Anina Ivry-Block (Palberta), Bambara convened in a remote cabin in rural Georgia, where Reid laid down his vocals. The finished product represents both the band's most experimental and accessible work to date. The addition of Citron and Ivory-Block's vocals create a hauntingly beautiful contrast to Bateh's commanding baritone on tracks like 'Sing Me to the Street', 'Death Croons' and 'Stay Cruel," while the Dick Dale inspired guitar riffs on 'Serafina' and "Heat Lightning" and the call-and-response choruses throughout the album showcase Bambara's ability to write songs that immediately demand repeat listens. While the music itself is evocative and propulsive, a fever dream all of its own, the lyrical content pushes the record even further into its own darkly thrilling realm. If the songs on Shadow On Everything were like chapters in a novel, then this time they're short stories. Short stories connected by death and its effect on the characters in contact with it. 'Death is what you make it' runs a lyric in 'Sweat,' a line which may very well be the thread that ties these stories together. But it would be wrong to characterize Stray as simply the sound of the graveyard. Light frequently streams through and, whether refracted through the love and longing found on songs like 'Made for Me' or the fantastical nihilism on display in tracks like the anthemic 'Serafina,' reveals this album to be the monumental step forward that it is. Here Bambara sound like they've locked into what they were always destined to achieve, and the effect is nothing short of electrifying.

Peat & Diesel

Peat & Diesel

19 Jul 2025 - 25 Oct 2025

The story began when three Stornoway Cove's (Innes, Uilly and Boydie) met up in the house to have the craic on a Saturday night playing music with just the dog and the cat watching. After a few tunes getting thrown across the room Boydie stated muttering a few sentences. As he is a man of few words no attention was really given to him until he shouted 'Quick, line me out!' Not a second to spare a set of old broken headphones were cable tied to a guitar amp and out came a few cobwebs followed shortly after with a sound nobody had ever heard before. What came next was five gallons of lyrics, verse after verse, song after song Peat & Diesel was born! The songs won't make much sense to the average person, but the person behind the lyrics isn't your average man so if you have a listen and you can relate to it you are a special breed! Peat & Diesel Light my Byre takes you on a journey to the heart of the Western Isles, where #peatlemania was born. You might have time for a brandy in the 'Airidh' but don't miss your ride in Calum Dan's Transit Van, we ain't stopping till we lose the water!

David Ford

David Ford

9 Oct 2025 - 6 Nov 2025

These days, David Ford feels much more at home operating on the fringes of the music business, not trying to be famous, not trying to get rich. It might be an unconventional way to conduct a musical career, but this is not a conventional guy, as evidenced by his most recent album, Animal Spirits, a surprisingly accessible, even soulful collection of songs about economics. As an artist Ford still defies classification or comparison. Singer-songwriter doesn’t begin to cover it. He writes and performs with fluency across multiple genres, plays every instrument on the stage and even invents new ones to create truly unique recordings and performances. Every live show is different. Ford’s trademark one-man loop machine circus grows more complex and audacious every year, but then he is just as likely to show up with a six-piece band, a string quartet, jazz drummer or a choir and his most recent UK tour proved he can be equally compelling sat in an armchair, playing acoustic guitar and telling stories. The result is a live spectacle described by The Guardian as “unmissable”. As well as playing sold-out headline shows on both sides of the Atlantic, he has toured with and supported artists such as Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint, Ray LaMontagne, Aimee Mann, Sara Bareilles, Gomez, Aqualung, Richard Ashcroft, Suzanne Vega, Augustana, Ingrid Michaelson and Jakob Dylan.
Transmission: The Sound of Joy Division
Devoted to recreating the atmosphere of a live Joy Division gig, Transmission emulate the sound of one of the most inventive, evocative and influential groups of their era. Joy Division were formed in the late 1970s and dissolved in 1980 after the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. The remaining members went on to form New Order and have achieved much critical and commercial success. The influence of Joy Division, however, was far reaching. They were considered the pioneering band of the post-punk movement of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Forty three years on you can relive the dark, cavernous sound of Joy Division through Transmission - the UK's number one Joy Division tribute act.

The Northern Pop Girlies: The Wishful Thinking Tour
The Northern Pop Girlies Tour Description Beth McKenzie, Chloe Charlotte, and Holly Nicholson are three of the most exciting emerging pop artists in the northern music scene right now. Making up The Northern Pop Girlies, the girls came together in November 2024, and created a tight-knit community. In February 2025, the girls made their mark and solidified their status in the music industry with their sold-out show at The Deaf Institute. Coming off the back of this success, JustForTheRecord presents The Northern Pop Girlies: The Wishful Thinking Tour, which will see them make their debut in Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham, and London. Beth McKenzie is a bright new addition to todays pop scene. With influences ranging from Lily Allen and Paloma Faith to Chappell Roan and Gracie Abrams, her debut EP Does This Make Me A Bitter Woman? combines Britpop nostalgia with the rule-bending vision of this generation's hottest risers, as she lays out her most intimate thoughts. From deconstructing a partners internalised homophobia on her hit single Dont Tell My Boyfriend, to wrestling with religious trauma on The Cult, she details her most personal experiences in the hope of being a voice for those who feel unheard. For fans of Taylor Swift, Maisie Peters and Olivia Rodrigo, Holly Nicholson is quickly making a name for herself within the music scene. From raw emotion to a fiery energy proving impossible to ignore, she delivers lyrics that capture a kaleidoscope of emotions and resonate with her listeners, whilst her sound disrupts expectations by combining bright 80s inspired pop with aggressive guitars and punchy drums, offering a fresh take on contemporary pop music today. Tunng

Tunng

20 Nov 2025 - 22 Nov 2025

Time flies when youre being Tunng. Can it really be over two decades since the band's genre-blurring, self-styled pagan folktronica first emerged from an east London studio courtesy of a clutch of Gilles Peterson-endorsed singles on the small but perfectly formed Static Caravan imprint It surely can, and what's more, January 2025 will mark the twentieth anniversary of This is Tunng... Mother's Daughter and Other Songs, a debut longplayer whose acoustic guitars and poetic disquisitions on nature, mythology and the human condition, courtesy of Sam Genders, sieved through fellow band founder Mike Lindsay's lattice of fractured beats and crackling electronics, still sounds like an impiously postmodern wedding of the rustic and the synthetic, the arcane and the futurist one for which the designation pagan folktronica is as good a shorthand as any. Whichever way we choose to describe it, that 20-year-old signature sound makes a warm return on Tunng's eighth studio album, Love You All Over Again, a winning amalgam of texture and melody, disconcerting imagery and shapeshifting production, predicated, Lindsay reveals, on a conscious reacquainting with the band's first principles. I went back to the first two albums just to listen to how we fused genres things like Davy Graham, Pentangle and the Wicker Man soundtrack, all of which I was discovering back then, together with Expanding Records [the Shoreditch-based repository of soi-disant beautiful electronic music], whose studio space we shared. That was all going into the early records. Over the years, Tunng's sound has varied and twisted, but at the root there is always a flavour of what Sam and I made on that first album. Rather than searching for a new avenue we went back to what we used to do, which, after all this time, felt like it was a new avenue... Love You All Over Again is our way of coming full circle. And what a circle it's been, one that has embraced global touring, chart-grazing singles (like live favourites Jenny Again from 2006, the following year's Bullets and 2010's Hustle), a jaw-dropping live collaboration with Tuareg desert blues combo Tinariwen (including two memorable Glastonbury performances in 2009 and 2010), and a catalogue of restlessly innovative albums for the Full Time Hobby label, beginning with folktronica exemplars Comments of the Inner Chorus in 2006 and Good Arrows in 2007. Subsequent longplayers would expand the Tunng palette, exploring more of a live band feel and embracing broader leftfield pop and psychedelic flavours, helping cement widespread acclaim and a loyal international audience in the process.

The New Eves

15 Sept 2025 - 9 Oct 2025

With an unusual lineup of cello, violin, flute, guitar, bass and drums, The New Eves DIY nature and fierce spirit seem to be conjuring some kind of folkloric punk revival. With a poetic honesty about who they are and what they love at the core, their rhythms are like galloping horses and were they on a mountaintop, their voices would ring for miles. Going to a New Eves show is like being complicit in some kind of ritualistic opening. They tear up rock and roll at its roots, expressing a journey through seance, strings and electric guitar. Theyre a work of art to witness and a sensational climax to be felt.

Crazy Little Sing Called Pub

Crazy Little Sing Called Pub

26 Jun 2025 - 9 Oct 2025

We get it. You can sing, but only in the shower or the car or when you've had a few drinks. Well, get out of that bathroom, leave your wheels at home, definitely do grab those drinks at the bar & come sing with us! We don't care if you're a bit ropey- you'll be led in song by someone who knows what they're talking about. Abi Moore will (im)politely guide, cajole and, if necessary, heave your voice out of you. Whether you're a high, middle or low singer - or even if you have no idea- your voice is needed and welcomed. Were going to sing an epic pop/ rock pub anthem and make a harmonised choir out of a bunch of total strangers. You wont believe the sound youll make - and we also film it to prove it wasnt just a drunken dream! Music, drinks, laughter and random people coming together to create something amazing. You dont need anything except your voice, your ears, and well maybe a few drinks!
Jolie Holland

Jolie Holland

9 Sept 2025 - 19 Sept 2025

Jolie Holland is an American singer and performer who combines elements of folk, traditional country, jazz, and blues Over the span of her career, Jolie Holland has knotted together a century of American song-jazz, blues, soul, rock and roll-into some stew that is impossible to categorize with any conventional critical terminology. This is her burden and her gift, to know all of these American songs of the last ten decades in her head and her heart, and to have to wrestle with their legacy. She dives straight to the pathos of a song the way the very greatest singers, singers like Mavis Staples, or Al Green, or Skip James, or Tom Waits do. Upon first encounter her songs seem challenging, perhaps unsettling at times, but as so many poets and rockers have shown us (from Dante Alighieri to William Blake to Sylvia Plath to Patti Smith to Nick Cave to Mark E. Smith) that’s where the beauty lies. As evident on her first recordings, Holland apparently has no fear of the truth, and there is no emotional core that she cannot reach in song. In fact she thrives on the red hot centre of a musical composition, in all its strange and brutal detail.

Elias Rønnenfelt (iceage)

Elias Rønnenfelt (iceage)

16 Jun 2025 - 16 Jun 2025

Heavy Glory is the first solo record by Elias Rønnenfelt, who for the past 16 years has been the singer of Iceage, a band he co-founded when he was 16 years old. Heavy Glory is the sound of growing up by throwing oneself into the world, made by someone whose only constant companions have been a pen and a guitar. The album tells tales of inspiration and perseverance in the face of chaos, isolation and excess. Villains are poetic, crocodiles and rats without names or shapes, while banal details evoke a sharp, lived ennui, from the perfume of a urinal to the mere fact of Luton, London’s loneliest airport. The world it describes is a bright mess, and Rønnenfelt is in it. He knows how to be in it. Presented by This Is Tmrw. This is a 14+ / 14 - 16s accompanied by an adult event

Fresh off his debut album under his own name, a North American headline tour, and a year-long occupation atop NYCs rock n roll scene, Sid Simons looks to keep the party going in 2025 across the continent of Europe. Simons released his sparkling debut album Beneath The Brightest Smiles in 2024, which slickly fused the likes of folkier sensibilities reminiscent of Big Thief and Elliott Smith with a tendency to locate the nearest overdrive pedal and arrive at guitar anthems not unlike The Strokes or Oasis. Backed by an eclectic band, Sid overtook some of NYCs most storied venues such as Bowery Ballroom and Irving for exceptionally reviewed and memorable live shows all year. Sid will have a new EP out - The Last American Valentine - in early 2025. Heathen Apostles

Heathen Apostles

15 Jul 2025 - 29 Oct 2025

Born of the voices of past lives and baptized in the dust bowl dirt, the Gothic Americana music of the Heathen Apostles (Mather Louth \[Radio Noir\], Chopper Franklin \[The Cramps, Nick Curran & the Lowlifes\], Thomas Lorioux \[Kings of Nuthin’\] and Luis Mascaro) harkens back to a bygone chapter of American history. Using contrasting influences such as Bauhaus, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and The Pogues along with Howlin’ Wolf, Loretta Lynn (the band covers her classic Fist City) and Bessie Smith, the Heathen Apostles have created a style of music that at once conjures both angels and demons, and will enlighten a darkened soul. Gothic Americana is a genre that is fast taking hold around the world, in that it combines the sub-genres of gothic country & bluegrass, dark blues, murderfolk and depression-era jazz. The Heathen Apostles are amongst the first to inject all four into their incendiary music. This is an 18+ event

25 Jul 2025 - 25 Jul 2025

Optimo (Espacio) are the duo JD Twitch and JG Wilkes. They each have over 30 years DJ-ing experience and have become both renowned and highly respected for their memorable and ecstatic deejay sets. Twitch and Wilkes exhibit a unique disregard forgenres and musical restrictions in their craft, creating a nightclub experience that strikes out into territories far beyond the accepted boundaries of club music. The duo were responsible for the Glasgow nightclub Optimo (Espacio) which ran from November 1997 until April 2010. Optimo sat at the very epicentre of the Scottish Clubbing consciousness in its weekly residency in the Sub Club and is widely regarded as one of the most important and ground-breaking clubs of the past two decades (at one point earning them the prestigious title of Mixmag Club of the Year). Optimo first came to international recognition with the release of How to Kill The Dj (part2) in 2004. This mix, and the critical acclaim that followed, would catapult the duo onto the international gigging circuit. The next few years would see them travel across the world taking the Optimo party aesthetic to over 50 countries across Europe, North & South America, Africa, Australia & Asia. Subsequent mix releases illustrated their exceptional maverick determination, raising the benchmark for what is expected from a DJ mix and what musical ingredients could be used to create it. These titles include - Psyche-Out (Eskimo Recordings), 20 Years Underground (Soma), Walkabout (Endless Flight), In Order To Edit (R&S), Sleepwalk (Domino Recordings) and culminated with a tour-de-force mix for the Fabric Series with Fabric 52 Optimo (Espacio). Their mixes and DJ sets underline Optimos reputation as taste-makers, achieved through their shared passion for clubbing and their encyclopedic knowledge of music. However it also illustrates their skill in assembling sounds from the past and present to create an experience that is definitively futuristic in spirit. Further opportunities to hear the Optimo sound can be found on the highly respected NTS Live where Optimo take to the internet radio waves monthly, providing a topical and up to the minute glimpse into the head-messing Optimo universe. There is also the (JD Twitch helmed) respected & prolific Optimo Music label, active since 2009 and heading for its 150th release, plus their very own festival, Watching Trees. Watching Trees was launched in association with their allies at Ransom Note in 2022 and was nominated by DJ Magazine as best boutique festival. Optimo (Espacio) are also active in their local community raising awareness and funds for local food banks, refugee and anti-racist organisations. So far they have raised over a quarter of a million pounds for various organisations in Glasgow, and beyond. The final essential ingredient to the Optimo success is of course the people. Each Optimoset is different, teased out of the dynamics of a singular group of people - whether it be a tiny basement sweat-box, the main room of a super club, the main stage of a festival or a thousand people in a field - and everything they do springs from the spirit of the crowd and the rhythm of the moment. It is the unique enthusiasm of each crowd, where ever they go, that gives them inspiration and feeds the joy in what they do. As Twitch and Wilkes say themselves, We Love Your Ears!
Jah Wobble

Jah Wobble

2 Oct 2025 - 12 Nov 2025

Over the past three decades or so, Jah Wobble has ploughed his own furrow as a prolific solo artist, as well as becoming a well-respected session musician, with genuine passion for Eastern and Global music. He has worked with a diverse range of musicians, including Baaba Maal, Bjork, Primal Scream, Brian Eno, Sinead O'Connor, Julianne Regan, Delores O'Riordan, Holgat Czukay, The Edge and Chaka Demus & Pliers. The man born John Wardle began his musical journey when he met John Lydon and Sid Vicious at Kingsway College, London in 1973. It was Vicious who not only nicknamed John 'Jah Wobble' after a drunken binge but also loaned him his first bass guitar. Lydon asked JW to join Public Image Limited (aka PiL) in spring 1978. Wardle's distinctive 'low end' bass became the backbone of PiL's pioneering sound. After its follow-up, the exploratory yet sinister soundscapes of Metal Box, Wardle became disillusioned by politics within the band and their reluctance to play live. He eventually split from PiL in mid-1980 and embarked on a prolific solo career. Wobble is joined on stage by drummer Marc Layton-Bennett and Martin Chung.
YHWH Nailgun

YHWH Nailgun

19 Aug 2025 - 28 Oct 2025

The quartet of Zack Borzone (vox), Jack Tobias (synth), Sam Pickard (drums), and Saguiv Rosenstock (guitar) display an innate ability to translate a primitive spirit into a modern form. Born during the lockdown as an experimental project between Borzone and Pickard in Philadelphia, the group expanded as the two moved to New York, adding Tobias for their debut self-titled EP, which was produced by Rosenstock, who was then integrated into the band. That first collection is one of self-discovery, of finding the tools necessary to make songs within the band’s own ecosystem. They honed in on their own world and their collaborative, close-knit writing process, discovering the essential structures and feelings that make YHWH Nailgun.
The Destroyers - Summer Gig + Karolina Wegrzyn
Unapologetically complex and joyful, The Destroyers have been colliding world musics for nearly twenty years. Their behemothic sound is a chaotic cacophony of klezmer, Balkan and British folk. With twelve truly exceptional musicians from Birmingham their explosive and virtuosic live show needs to be seen to be believed. Faustian fiddles, whirlwinds of woodwinds, braying brass, raucousness from the rhythm section, and salvos from the sousaphone destroy inhibitions and leave audiences bewildered, transported, beguiled, and wild. These tenacious, travelling troubadours have liberated ears, hearts, and minds at... Glastonbury | WOMAD | Boomtown Fair | Secret Garden Party | Fire in the Mountain | Shambala | Cambridge Folk Festival | Gate to Southwell | Underneath the Stars | Nozstock Hidden Valley | Knockengorroch | Sidmouth Folk Week | Buskers Bern (SW) | Penabilli (IT) | Waterford Spraoi (IE), and many, many more. Featured at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony, on BBC 1, BBC 2, The One Show, Sky Arts TV, and plays on BBC Radio 2, 3, and 6 Music. FFO: Golgol Bordello, Balkan Beatbox, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Tankus The Henge, Edward II, The Baghdaddies, Fairport Convention, Sheelanagig, Ara Malikian, The Rin Tins, Bellowhead, 3 Daft Monkeys. With support from Polish folk singer and musician Karolina Wegrzyn!

Making her stage debut in April 2019 and selling out her first headline show at London’s prestigious Southbank Centre over a year later, A.A. Williams has hit the ground running. Similarly, the acclaim for her performances and her music has been unanimous from the start. After one self-titled EP and the 10” vinyl collaboration Exit in Darkness with Japanese post-rockers MONO, the London-based singer-songwriter has signed to Bella Union and made a stunning debut album, Forever Blue. A rapturous blend of post-rock and post-classical, Forever Blue smoulders with uncoiling melodies and haunted atmospheres, shifting from serenity to explosive drama, often within the same song. Williams is a fantastic musician as well as songwriter, playing the guitar, cello and piano, and her voice has the controlled delivery of a seasoned chanteuse whilst still channelling the rawest of emotions.

Ghostwoman

Ghostwoman

24 Oct 2025 - 24 Oct 2025

GHOSTWOMAN itself only exists because Uschenko and van Dessel were the ones stupid enough to commit to it. Conceived by Uschenko after cutting his teeth as a touring multi-instrumentalist, the project was brought to life in an abandoned farmhouse in Diamond City, Alberta. There, for two months, he would make the self-released, self-titled debut album which was produced and dubbed directly to custom-made cassette tapes. The music has always been beautifully inhospitable, earned only by those curious enough to seek it out. GHOSTWOMAN became a head-on collision between the switchblade rust of his guitars and her caustic drum beats which march them on toward a shared oblivion. Welcome to the Civilized World is an album to be a pure distillation of their shared vision. From its earliest sketch to its final form, the only people to touch it were GHOSTWOMAN themselves. Musically, GHOSTWOMAN are a sharper beast than ever: hypnotic spells of psych-grunge, decaying Americana and instrumental locked-horns. Uschenko, who presides over the vocals, insists they are not important. Much of the lyrics are nonsense, not written as much as abstractly sketched to feel out the shape of the music itself but even in Uschenkos dream grammar, the force and feeling are no less potent. The bands process is intuitive rather than calculated; sounds are made in a chain reaction to one another. 5 Gold Pieces, with its filthy guitars and snarling, livewire vocals was recorded as a test after they bought a tape machine. The first shot is often the best, and that test is what you hear today. Everything they used to record is gone. We buy old equipment or instruments which have a bunch of life and soul in it until weve used it all up, and then sell it again so we can buy something else, explains Van Dessel. Welcome to the Civilized World is not concerned with making music for an audience, not for the music industry and not for any particular point other than the thrill of it. Nothing matters, we are all doomed, the sun will swallow the earth and our efforts turn to dust anyway. The band will continue to play as the ship goes down.
