Alfie Moore: A Face for Radio

4 Oct 2025 - 4 Oct 2025

Somewhere in a parallel universe little Alfie’s natural comedic performance skills were recognised by his doting parents who encouraged and developed his blossoming talent. After several years as a stage school brat Alfie’s angelic face was launched on stage and screen and the rest is history. Meanwhile, in this universe Alfie Moore was told to stop messing about in class before being ‘encouraged’ into the grinding, grimy world of an apprenticeship in the Sheffield steelworks. When recession hit he traded steel for copper by joining Humberside Police. In his 40s the two universes collided when Alfie made a bid for showbiz success – but unfortunately 30 years of shift-work and being punched in the face quite a lot, had left him with ‘a face for radio’. A face not so much ‘lived in’ as inhabited by a settlement of squatters with little regard to property maintenance and repair. This is the true story of ‘Fair Cop’ Alfie’s big plan to transition from the BBC radio waves to TV star. Could it be done? Or had Father Time decided that his time had passed?

A monster’s guide to tolerance and temperance. Jess can feel herself becoming an emotional wildebeest right when her world (and the whole world, thanks) demands cool, collected ultra detached saint-like kindness and understanding. St. She goes digging around in her DNA for answers and finds so many beautiful horrors. Witness her effort to become a brand new, mythical, mystical ‘coper.’ OR NOT. She gets cancelled, she gets touched and she gets a dolphin-based epiphany all in one show. The silliest of comedy for the scariest of days from Edinburgh Best Show Award Nominee. You’ve seen Jess on BBC’s QI, Live at the Apollo, Celebrity University Challenge and Richard Osman’s House of Games. From Travel Man on C4 and World’s Most Dangerous Roads on Dave. You know her from her two BBC R4 series of Sturdy Girl Club plus podcasts The Guilty Feminist and Hoovering. And, of course, from new mighty smash hit Gladiator’s fan-podcast Contender Ready which Jess co-hosts with Olympic weightlifting superstar, Emily Campbell.

From Great Yarmouth’s Contemporary Ritual Theatre comes the critically acclaimed folk tragedy SALT, a visceral and immersive tale of ancient fisherfolk. “I’m going out wi’ the tide, old wench, I came in on the flood; an’ the sea is streaked wi’ silver, an’ the sun is red wi’ blood.” The East Norfolk coast. 1770. Man Billy, a pious young fisherman, lives with his domineering Mother, Widow Pruttock. Two things govern their life: the herring harvest and devotion to God. Filled with sea shanties, dances, hymns and folk songs, SALT is a visceral tale of faith, jealousy and demonic passion. Ages 12+ Running time 1 hour 55 min including a 20 min interval Following a sell-out tour of East Anglia and London in 2024, SALT comes to Findhorn as part of a UK-wide tour. “Extraordinary…If Shakespeare, Ken Loach and Nick Cave went on a day trip to Great Yarmouth, SALT could be the result.” ★★★★ The Reviews Hub “This enthralling tale is magically brought to life…Beau Hopkins’s writing and the wonderful performance from the cast will leave you breathless. Devilishly good!” Harbour Radio “Visceral and immersive…you can almost smell the sea air. SALT draws you in and leaves you feeling truly transported.” A Young(ish) Perspective

The evening’s events are set against the tatty glitzy glamour, flashing lights and pulsating beat of the nightclub, as seen through the eyes of 'Judd', 'Ralph', 'Les' and 'Lucky Eric'.⁣⁣ Performed by Park Street Performing Arts, with kind permission from the John Godber Company.

From real-life-lovers-turned-identical-twins, Sam Kruger (Winner - Just for Laughs Comedy Award 2019) and S.E. Grummett (Winner - Best Theatre, Adelaide Fringe 2021) comes a bizarre comedy with just a splash of the occult.
