A Midsummer Night’s Dream

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

18 Jun 2025 - 18 Jun 2025

St Michael’s presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream, adapted for children by Marilyn Nikimaa. This abridged version of one of Shakespeare’s most well-known comedies sees fairies playing tricks on unsuspecting humans, terrible actors trying to put on a play and four lovers whose paths cross in the woods with hilarious consequences. “When all these unlikely characters meet in a magical forest, the result can only be a preposterously entangled Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

Hypnotist Andrew Newton

21 Jun 2025 - 21 Jun 2025

Join the World’s Best Hypnotist as he explores the absurd side of the creative human imagination… “Newton has ditched the stock-in-trade antics of stage hypnosis, instead turning his volunteers into brilliant, inventive and surreal stand-up comedians. Last nights’ audience rewarded him with non-stop laughter from beginning to end.” “Newton’s own other-worldly sense of the unreal kept the show bouncing along – always something new, always something surprising.” New Zealand Herald, November 2024
St Mary’s School: Make Do And Mend
‘Make Do And Mend’ is an original musical about the Occupation and Liberation of Jersey. It is told through the eyes of Collette, an eleven-year-old diary writer. The scenes she documents are brought to life through music and drama. The musical was written by Mark Atkinson and Jan Holdstock in 1995 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation, and to capture some of the eye-witness stories for a future audience.

Heavy Weather

Heavy Weather

1 May 2025 - 3 May 2025

By Lizzie Nunnery Directed by Nicole Twinam and Hettie Duncan “The sky. The water. The air. It won’t keep snapping back. You can’t keep refreshing the screen. A lie is not a white lie, or a half-lie or a false truth or fake news… It’s a lie and we call it a lie, or everything’s cracking underneath us.” Mona is sixteen and worried. She’s worried about the melting ice caps, tides of floating trash and disposable coffee cups. But no one else seems to really care. Not the other kids at school, not her older sister and certainly not the adults who seem to think they know best. Amidst the chaos of competing and contradicting voices, Mona sets off on a kaleidoscopic quest to find solutions for the planet – and the truth about her family – in the hope that everything might just start to make sense again. A powerful, timely play about climate change, the power of young voices, and one teenage girl’s journey through a world teetering on the brink. By arrangement with Nick Hern Books

Sayers and Arthur Conan Doyle. Having just completed their final performance of Murder Ad Infinitum, the cast and crew descend upon their favourite Chinese restaurant to celebrate their success – and the fact that they haven’t burnt down the theatre (again) – only to find themselves embroiled in a real-life murder mystery as one of their number is struck down by an unknown assailant. Moana

Moana

18 May 2025 - 23 Aug 2025

Moana (Carvalho) is a plucky Polynesian girl who revives the voyaging tradition of her island tribe, with the help of buffoonish demigod Maui (Johnson, exuberantly sending himself up.) The unabashed positivity is pure Disney but Bush's zingy screenplay satirises the studio's princess obsession and there's a refreshing lack of a love interest. A spirited, vividly realised and genuinely rousing adventure.
