3 Daft Monkeys

3 Daft Monkeys

17 Oct 2026 - 20 Nov 2026

3 Daft Monkeys' dynamic style of world-influenced folk music and infectious dancing rhythms will leave you breathless, enthralled and exhilarated. After experiencing the band's notoriously energetic live performance at Glastonbury Festival last summer, Mark Radcliffe declared them as one of his Highlights of the Festival on BBC TV coverage, and subsequently invited them to play a session on his BBC Radio 2 Folk Show. The band have also performed a live session with Whispering Bob Harris on Radio 2, after he experienced them 'live' at Cropredy Festival. With their quirky and original approach to music, and their passion, intensity and sheer joy of life, 3 Daft Monkeys have gained themselves a large and loyal cult following, which is still growing rapidly due to their intense touring schedule. Their music is hard to pigeon-hole, mixing and crossing many musical genres from Celtic, Klezmer, Gypsy, Balkan, Latin, Ska, Dub Reggae, Indie, Rock and even a hint of Shostakovich. Fascinating lyrics of personal and whimsical observations on life, and folk tales both ancient and modern, are told within the swirling layers of their music, all with the essential catchy sing-along chorus. Their latest story-led and theatrical album Of Stones and Bones'(Best Album, Spiral Earth Awards) is a collection of old, new and fictional Cornish tales of forbidden love, murder, rebellion, witchcraft and piracy. All delivered with panache and a wicked vein of humour.

An Evening With Jess Silk is a chance to hear Jess talk more about her songwriting and inspirations, and to listen to some of her more subdued, yet equally thought provoking, songs that dont often get an outing in the hubbub of her usual gigs. £12.50 early bird £15.00 OTD
Vincent Flatts Final Drive

Vincent Flatts Final Drive

If you've seen the Birmingham (UK) band on the road, you'll know what they're all about. If not, you'll figure it out real fast once you hear 'em. But while the music goes through the genre gears, one thing is constant: Steve 'Bertie' Burton's killer voice.
Ian Parker Band

Ian Parker Band

19 Jul 2026 - 19 Jul 2026

A songwriter genuinely literate, sometimes almost literary, Ian is an original craftsman. Expressed through a distinctive bitter-sweet vocal delivery, Ian's songs hold nothing back. His ability and willingness to share with his audience, naked honesty and genuine emotion, is what sets him apart.Ian's career took off in the summer of 2003, when he signed to Ruf Records following a personal introduction to US record producer, David Z (Prince - Purple Rain). His debut album 'INSIDE' (Ruf1094) was released in October of that year.Further albums, live DVDs and extensive tours of Europe and the USA followed, with Parker always seeking new musical avenues to explore, never content to merely rehash old ideas, no matter how successful they may have been. To this end, Ian is something of journeyman, guided by his art and his self-confessed emotional need to express his soul through music. His journey has taken unexpected turns, testing his loyal following from time to time, but the integrity of his writing, the quality of his distinctive voice and the soulful nature of his signature guitar playing have always been the bedrock of his work.Following the release of Politik Blues (Eye-Pea002) in April 2015, Ian refocused his attention on the Stratocaster-driven blues music he began building his reputation on, more than twenty years ago. A return to the iconic Rockfield Studios (Queen A Night at the Opera) in the summer of 2018 resulted in the blues album many long-standing fans and critics alike are lauding as his best work to date. Spoonful of Gold Blues for Willie celebrates the music of Willie Dixon, delivered in Ian's inimitable style.Freed from the shackles of being the new kid on the block vying for attention in an over-saturated market, Parker approaches his music, these days, with the calm, self-assurance that accompanies one who has, to some extent, been there and done it. Nothing to prove and still so much to say, Ian Parker remains an act not to be missed.Katie Fitzgerald's Sunday 28th November, 7.30pm FULL BAND! Ian plays his first genuine hometown gig in a decade on Sunday 28th November at the newly refurbished and capacity-expanded Katie Fitzgerald's in Stourbridge. Ian returns with his full four-band and will perform the blues-rock material through which he forged his reputation in a career spanning twenty-five years. After eighteen months without be able to performing in public, it has been a real privilege to begin playing again over the summer. I am really excited about the prospect of a home-town gig in what is now a fantastic, intimate venue always my favourite kind of place to play, commented Parker. Our current setlist comprises blues and blues-rock covers and originals taken from the albums that I have released over the last two decades. Im genuinely enjoying playing more than ever before, he added.
Peaky Blinders. The Real Gangs and Gangsters
Stylish and dark, the international phenomenon that's the Peaky Blinders TV series highlights the exploits of the charismatic Thomas Shelby and his violent Birmingham organised crime gang in the aftermath of the First World War. Well-dressed, captivating, and powerful, these dramatised gangsters are nothing like the real peaky blinder gangs of late Victorian and Edwardian Birmingham. | Overwhelmingly poor, unskilled men and teenagers, they revelled in violence. Battling each other, baiting the police, and bullying the hardworking decent poor of the back streets, they abused women and, infected with racism, attacked Italians and Jews. Thugs and often petty criminals, the peaky blinders inflicted a reign of ruffianism that was ended by 1910 thanks to the provision of sporting clubs, more severe prison sentences, and vigorous policing. Under Chief Constable Charles Haughton Rafter, a Protestant Irishman, and his deputy, Michael McManus, a Catholic Irishman, the Birmingham force recruited tall, fit, and strong young men who took on the peaky blinders, having fulfilled three criteria: Can they read, Can they write, Can they fight. In his illustrated talk, Peaky Blinders. The Real Gangs and Gangsters Carl Chinn delves deeply into the reality of Birmingham's street gangs and peaky blinders. The author of the Sunday Times number one bestseller, Peaky Blinders. The Real Story (2019), he was the historical consultant for the BBC documentaries, The Real Peaky Blinders (2022). His latest book is Peaky Blinders. The Real Gangs and Gangsters. The true story of Britain's most notorious street gangs (Blink Publishing, 2025).

Inspector Drake's Vintage Radio Show

Inspector Drake's Vintage Radio Show

11 Jun 2026 - 11 Jun 2026

A unique live radio play by David Tristram. December 1945. Following the discovery of a severed head, which has been sliced into four equal pieces, the local Police almost immediately suspect foul play and alert headquarters. Murder? Well, that sort of thing you come to expect in the line of duty. A good murder never hurt anyone. But this was different. Very different. And it soon becomes clear that there's only one man alive capable of solving such a baffling case. Join the legendary Inspector Drake as he unravels a murder mystery with more plot twists than a really twisty thing. Aided by his fiercely loyal but endlessly inept Sergeant, Drake encounters many unusual characters along the way. And just to complicate things further, every suspect they interrogate bears a striking resemblance to the next. Having made his mark on both stage and silver screen (INSPECTOR DRAKE THE MOVIE and INSPECTOR DRAKE 2, THE SEAGULL), the original Inspector Drake, played by Alan Birch, now returns to the stage to pay tribute to the pioneers of vintage radio comedy. Expect an intriguing period mystery, interwoven with Goon-like absurdities, and a generous sprinkling of live songs from a by-gone age, sung by Sarah Raymond. Contains occasional strong language. Suitable for 15+ Rarely have I seen an audience laughing so helplessly. Together, the inspector and his sidekick sergeant create a team of towering incompetence. You are liable to laugh until you cry - and when you cry, you will cry for more. - John Slim, Birmingham Evening Mail
