It's A Mystery!

It's A Mystery!

8 Jul 2026 - 8 Jul 2026

It’s a Mystery! A hilarious and moving exploration of the enduring appeal of murder mysteries “I suppose you’re wondering why I’ve gathered you all here this evening.” Tim Benzie, the acclaimed creator and host of Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote presents his now one-man show, a funny and engrossing deep dive into the appeal of murder mysteries. The audience are summoned to the drawing room as Tim takes on the role of detective, examining the clues that drew him to the genre as a child, a journey from Scooby Doo and Encyclopaedia Brown, to German mystery-puzzle books via reading the entire works of Agatha Christie as a teenager. Along the way he draws connections between obsessions with detective films, the TV series Murder, She Wrote and his current Solve-Along show. There is a tenacious theory that in times of societal strife, murder mysteries surge in popularity, and Tim unpacks the notion via stories of his own troubled times, to determine not just why there is a detective in all of us, but ultimately what is the mystery that we’re all trying to solve. Funny, touching and showcasing the delight in pop culture minutiae that has made Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote a cult hit, It’s a Mystery! will appeal to fans of the genre and anyone who’s ever wondered whodunnit (and why). It’s a Mystery! has played to critical acclaim at the 2023 and 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Bread and Roses Theatre London in 2024 and was performed in New York and Australia in 2025.

The Kendall Connection live at Komedia
Brighton’s live music scene is set for a major blues-rock showcase as The Kendall Connection take over the Studio venue at Komedia Brighton for a night of high-energy musicianship, soaring guitar work, and emotionally charged original songs. Spearheaded by frontman guitarist and singer-songwriter Nick Kendall, the band features an all-star lineup of UK session players: Steve Holness (keyboards), Greg Hagger (bass), and Tom Clare (drums). Collectively, they are among the UK’s most in-demand musicians, having performed over the past decade with major names including 10cc, Tony Hadley, Paul Weller, Brian May, Gordon Giltrap and Alice Cooper. With blues-rock at its core, the band’s sound draws from a rich palette of influences — from modern guitar stylists and jazz-rock innovators through to classic rock storytellers and groove-driven roots artists. The result is a dynamic, contemporary sound blending blues, rock, jazz, country and funk into a powerful live experience. Nick Kendall will arrive in Brighton fresh off tour performing as guitarist with Sting in the acclaimed stage production The Last Ship, bringing that tour-honed energy and world-class precision straight to the Komedia stage. Formed in late 2016, the four-piece has released two albums to strong critical praise. Their debut record was hailed by Blues Matters Magazine as “one of the best debut albums this reviewer has heard in a long time.” Their songs showcase crafted musicianship, faultless riffs, and emotive lyrical writing that connects with both dedicated music fans and wider audiences. The band supported Jools Holland on tour, further cementing their reputation as a must-see live act. Kendall is also known to audiences for his performances with rock legends 10cc, as well as with GO NOW!, celebrating the music of The Moody Blues — but this Brighton show puts his original blues-rock project front and centre. Audiences can expect a night of blues-tinted rock, masterful guitar work, tight grooves, and songs that balance technical brilliance with emotional punch.

This is the unhinged story of how he succeeded against all odds with l3nt1l, who now exists as a briefcase-sized contraption full of tech and silliness, designed to go anywhere as a companion animal of sorts. He is also multi-lingual. L3Nt1L has returned as a life-coach and responds to live questions making catgpt a truly memorable and interactive experience, with no show quite like any other. Gary Meikle: Yer Maw

Gary Meikle: Yer Maw

16 May 2026 - 2 Dec 2026

Hi guys! It’s me, Gary. These blurbs do my head in, if I’m honest. Each year I need to sit and write one out before I even know what stories I’m gonna share. So what's the new show about? I don’t know yet, but it will contain at least one 'yer maw' joke! What I do know is that it’ll be another brand-new combination of stories, opinions and observations about me and my family, as well as all of you. It's always about people and the mad things we do, sometimes animals too, but more often than not it's about people and the stupid scenarios we end up in.

Improbotics Presents: Artificial Reality
Please be advised, this show may contain some adult themes or explicit content, and admittance to anyone below 16 is at the discretion of their legal guardian. Improvised show where audiences become producers of a reality show. With questionable methods, AI, wild characters, and deep fake celebrities, we sabotage reality TV. Led by an Executive Producer host, the crowd controls the show while contestants compete for audience love. Because of budget cuts, "celebrities" must be recreated using our own questionable "artificial reality" methods (state-of-the-art image and video generation, and AR glasses to send lines from a chatbot to control the "celebrity"). As contestants get eliminated, replaced, or rebooted by AI, the show becomes a hilarious and fast-paced high-tech satire of AI slop and voyeurism, by Improbotics, the award-winning pioneers of robot theatre. 'Whose Line is it Anyway?' mixed with 'I, Robot' Brighton and Hove News 2024.

Irvine Welsh: In Conversation

Irvine Welsh: In Conversation

19 Sept 2026 - 20 Sept 2026

Irvine Welsh was born in the great city of Edinburgh and matured in the housing schemes of Leith, West Pilton and Muirhouse. Neither school nor conventional employment appealed, but he was inspired to write after experiencing the explosions of punk and rave first hand. Trainspotting, Welsh's debut novel, was rejected from the Man Booker Prize shortlist, allegedly for offending the judges. It went on to sell over a million copies in the UK alone and was adapted into an iconic film by Danny Boyle, starring Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle and Kelly Macdonald. Porno was adapted into T2: Trainspotting, a sequel that reunited the original cast and crew. Renton, Begbie, Sick Boy and Spud, the much-loved antiheroes of Trainspotting, inhabit a fictional universe based on Welsh's experience of an inner-city Scotland blighted by Thatcherism and drug abuse. This universe has often been revisited in novels including Skagboys, The Blade Artist and A Decent Ride. It has been augmented by iconic characters from subsequent books, like Juice Terry, Post Alec, Jonty McKay and, trying to keep them (and themselves) in order, wayward cops Bruce Roberson and Ray Lennox, both of whom were played to devastating effect by James McAvoy in the film Filth, and on TV by Dougray Scott in Crime. 'General Admission + Book' tickets include a copy of Irvine Welsh's new book, Can Nothing Save Us, which will be available collect at the event.

'Georgia Polly-Taylor: Very Hot. Very Messy.' takes you on a grungy gondola trip through the kaleidoscopic sewers of celebrity. We find wannabe socialite model, 'Hot Mess', at her first ever MET Gala - poses are struck, bowels are loose, and dreams are crushed faster than you can say nepotism. Part absurd-clown, part catwalk-diva: Georgia Polly-Taylor's remarkably eccentric character celebrates the often disastrous reality of being human in her Brighton Fringe debut. Winner of the Brighton Fringe 2026 Cabaret and Variety Bursary, awarded Best of The Camden Fringe 2025, and nominated for 2 Fringe Theatre Awards 25/26 including Best Director and Best Solo Performance.

Spencer Jones: Dogs Wip

Spencer Jones: Dogs Wip

12 Jul 2026 - 12 Jul 2026

Spencer Jones (me) is making a new live comedy show and this is a work in progress of that show. It’s called dogs because there’s dogs in it and it’s about dogs. But please don’t be put off if you don’t like dogs, it’ll still be funny. In fact, there’s a good chance that by the time I come to Brighton, it’ll only be 30% dogs. There will be weird characters, strange props, fur, and I would imagine some daft music. Lots of bits and pieces for us to work out if they’re funny or not (they will be) x

Reuben Solo - Someone In This Crowd Will Betray Me
I've got a terrible feeling about this show. Like, somehow the whole thing is doomed. I've got this recurring dream where I'm on stage, thousands of miles from home and the crowd has turned on me. There are thousands of them and they are all booing me and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) is there, and so is Simon Cowell and he's slamming his fist into a red buzzer and the sound splits the air like a gunshot and the ceiling rips open and confetti rains down like debris but the booing only gets louder and louder and louder and louder and then I wake up. And ! realise that all of that actually happened to me.
Steve Knightley

Steve Knightley

5 Nov 2026 - 6 Dec 2026

As a long-serving troubadour of the folk and acoustic music scene, master songwriter and storyteller Steve Knightley has spent much of his life on the road, collecting songs, stories, anecdotes and observations with the odd disaster along the way. Best known for his work with the award-winning acoustic roots group Show of Hands, Steve has performed in venues from the Albert Hole in Bristol to the Albert Hall in London. His impressive back catalogue of songs are modern classics, still filling the folk clubs and festival fields, and forever influencing the next generation of folk artists. Steve says, 'A life on the road certainly has its challenges, but I can't say I'd do it differently if I had to start all over again. The format of 'Songs and Stories', and now 'Roadworks' allows me to share the stories I've collected over the years, along with plenty of observations along the way. It's just me, a radio mic and a couple of guitars which is daunting and liberating in equal measures, and it's enabled me to build elements into my shows which I've never been able to before.'
The Handsome Family

The Handsome Family

18 May 2026 - 31 May 2026

The Handsome Family, formed by husband and wife duo Brett and Rennie Sparks, bring their unique brand of alternative country music to the region. The Sparks’ music is steeped in the western gothic of New Mexico life. The unseen is powerful here. Nothing rusts, but entire oceans have disappeared. Ski masks mean robberies, but in the slow dive of the sun, enormous bugs awaken in thorny yards and unseen sirens and coyotes cry out to the purple sky. Just about anywhere you stand, there’s been some blood drawn. The Handsome Family continue to sell out venues worldwide that they couldn’t have filled before TV fame. Live, Brett (guitar/vocals) and Rennie (banjo/bass/vocals) are joined by drummer Jason Toth (worldwide) and multi-instrumentalist Alex MacMahon (USA). Their shows are full of humour and chit-chat. The Sparks’ aren’t afraid to reveal their ordinary humanness. The invisible couple is also very happy to be seen.

Will Wilde

16 May 2026 - 6 Dec 2026

Will Wildes intense harmonica style steals the spotlight from the traditional blues rock guitar, with a sound that owes as much to Gary Moore as it does to Sonny Boy Williamson. "Im always looking to make new sounds with the harmonica, pushing its boundaries, trying to change peoples perception of it. In fact Will has gone one step further and created his own signature "Wilde Tuned" harmonicas so he can play licks that werent possible before. They enable me to hold my own with any blues rock guitarist.

Mark Thomas: 40 in Stand Up Years

24 May 2026 - 13 Dec 2026

What?! Mark Thomas has been ‘standing up’ for 40 years? Impossible!! But how old does that make you…? Alas it is true; one of our oldest surviving alternative comics celebrates 40 years at the mic as he takes his brand-new show on the road this autumn. So, here’s what he has done so far in numbers; performed comedy for 40 years, won 8 awards for performing, 4 for human rights work and 1 he invented for himself, made 6 series of the Mark Thomas Comedy Product (Channel 4), written 6 books and 5 play scripts, made 5 series of the Manifesto for Radio 4, made 3 Dispatches for Channel 4, sued the police (and won) 3 times, curated and authored 2 art exhibitions with artist Tracey Moberly and had 1 Guinness World Record for holding 20 protests in 24 hours. If that’s not enough, he’s also walked 724km around the length of the Israel Wall in the West Bank, been credited with changing the law on tax avoidance, started a comedy club in Palestine with Dr Sam Beale and campaigned successfully for things like trade union recognition for cinema workers and getting multinationals to change their practices. You’re right, there’s more, but your attention is running out and we’re running out of space. So, let’s just say he’s generally mucked about trying to have fun and upset the right people…which he is really, really good at. This is a taster menu of political and personal mayhem, jokes, rants and a state of the nation broadcast as he tries to turn ‘what the hell is going on’ into a cogent evening of stand-up.

The Handsome Family

28 May 2026 - 28 May 2026

Following a sold-out Komedia gig, we’re very happy that The Handsome Family has chosen to return with a Melting Vinyl show, as part of their forthcoming tour to mark the reissue of their landmark album Singing Bones. Their 2003 album featuring the song ‘Far From Any Road’ from True Detective is now repackaged as a limited-edition, remastered vinyl. It has a repackaged sleeve and comes with the a bonus CD ‘Invisible Bones’ featuring outtakes, demos and live recordings. The Singing Bones reissue is out in May 2026. Led by husband-and-wife duo Brett and Rennie Sparks, The Handsome Family have long occupied a world of their own, blending alt-country, gothic Americana and desert noir into something both eerie and strangely beautiful. Written after their move to New Mexico, Singing Bones remains one of their defining works: a record steeped in dust, myth and the supernatural. It also gave the world Far From Any Road – later immortalised as the theme to True Detective – a track that has since racked up hundreds of millions of streams and become a modern cult classic. These shows see the band revisiting that era alongside favourites from their extensive catalogue – intimate, haunting performances that feel tailor-made for seated venues and attentive rooms.

Von Hertzen Brothers

Von Hertzen Brothers

3 Nov 2026 - 3 Nov 2026

Finnish progressive rock visionaries Von Hertzen Brothers, return to the UK in October 2026 for a very special run of intimate seated theatre shows. Celebrating 25 years as a band, the Finnish band will present a unique live experience unlike anything they have previously brought to UK audiences. The band wryly describe these performances as acoustic “enough” - while the songs may be reimagined away from their usual electric rock set-up, these shows are anything but stripped back. Far from a simple “unplugged” set, these shows interpret the band’s music in a way that is intimate, expansive and more immersive than ever before. The three brothers, Mikko, Kie and Jonne Von Herzen are joined on stage by their bandmate, multi-instrumentalist Markus Pajakkala whose impressive array of instruments goes far beyond a traditional acoustic set-up. The brothers themselves also show off their insane musical skills, each playing multiple instruments and taking turns on drums, keyboards, guitars, vocals, percussion and whatever else is on hand. Presented in seated theatre and cabaret style venues, these evenings are designed to bring audiences closer to the songs and stories at the heart of the music. Spanning the band’s rich 25-year catalogue, audiences can expect fan favourites, deep cuts and rarely performed material presented in brand new arrangements created especially for these shows. For over two decades, Von Hertzen Brothers have built a reputation as one of Europe’s most adventurous and compelling live bands. Blending progressive rock, folk, psychedelia and soaring vocal harmonies, they have earned a devoted following through their nine acclaimed studio albums, major festival appearances and unforgettable live performances. Whether you are discovering Von Hertzen Brothers for the first time or have followed them for years, Acoustic Enough promises a unique concert experience unlike any other.
