Lady Lever Art Gallery

Founded and built by William Lever, Lady Lever Art Gallery opened in 1922 and features late Victorian and Edwardian works, with the best collection of Wedgwood jasperware anywhere in the world. Highlights include the gallery's internationally renowned collection of Pre-Raphaelite paintings, Chinese ceramics, classical antiquities and tapestries from the 17th and 18th centuries. The gallery also regularly hosts exhibitions and has a cafe with a children's menu and adjoining shop. Lady Lever is free to visit and located in Port Sunlight, Wirral which can easily be reached by road. If you are travelling from Liverpool, use the Birkenhead (Queensway) tunnel. From elsewhere, leave the M53 at junction 4 and follow the signs for Port Sunlight village.

Be inspired by the world-class artworks on display at the Lady Lever Art Gallery and hone your own skills depicting the human form in our life drawing sessions. We will use a diversity of models to explore different body types and present shorter and longer poses to give you the opportunity to develop your skills. All sessions are held in the splendour of the Lady Lever Art Gallery and will have very limited places to maintain a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. These sessions are suitable for absolute beginners as well as more experienced artists. Basic art materials will be provided but if you would like to bring your own you are welcome to. Please note that there are no facilities for washing brushes or palettes.

Spend a relaxing afternoon in Lady Lever Art Gallery learning a new skill and getting to know new people. Cyanotype Prints or 'sun prints' use natural UV light to create beautiful blue and white images. Our friendly facilitator will guide you through the process to create a bookmark, card, and postcard from found and collected materials. There is no need to have any experience, just bring yourself and some enthusiasm. Whilst our works are drying we will take the opportunity to head to the café for a chat. You never know, you might leave with a new friend as well as a new artwork! This session is perfect for adults over the age of 18 who are interested and inspired to continue making art. Your £20 ticket includes materials, a facilitator and a hot drink in the café.

In this interactive session we will designing soaps using the melt and pour method, incorporating smells, oils, colours, and dried flowers to create something unique to you. Everything you need will be on hand during the session and you will make a few bars of your own personalised soap to take home with you. Our friendly facilitator will guide you through the process and there is no need to have any experience, just bring yourself and some enthusiasm. Whilst our soaps are drying we will take the opportunity to head to the café for a chat. You never know, you might leave with a new friend as well as a new skill! Our friendly facilitator will guide you through the process to create a selection of smaller and larger artworks for you to take home. There is no need to have any experience, just bring yourself and some enthusiasm. Whilst our works are drying we will take the opportunity to head to the café for a chat. You never know, you might leave with a new friend as well as a new artwork! This session is perfect for adults over the age of 18 who are interested and inspired to continue making art. Your £20 ticket includes materials, a facilitator and a hot drink in the café. Please note that it may take a while for your works to dry and so it may be necessary for you to return to the Lady Lever later that week to collect your pieces.

Explore the beauty of birds in Dawn to Dusk: Birds by Jim Moir at Lady Lever Art Gallery. Known to many as comedian Vic Reeves, Jim Moir is also a talented artist and passionate birdwatcher. This exhibition brings together over 40 of his finely crafted paintings, celebrating birds in flight, at rest, and in the shifting light of dawn and dusk. Many visitors will be familiar with Moir’s work following the successful Sky Arts series, Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy Moir. This will be the first time that the artist’s paintings have been displayed in a national gallery, with most works available for purchase.
