Milton Jones: HA!milton

Milton Jones: HA!milton

3 May 2025 - 29 Nov 2025

This is not a musical. Milton Jones is tone deaf and has no sense of rhythm, but at least he doesn’t make a song and dance about it. He has more important things to discuss. Like giraffes... and there’s a bit about tomatoes. You might know him from Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo or Radio 4. Or that time he stood for the Scottish National Party, fought a hard campaign, but in the end had to respect the wishes of the people of Cardiff. A whole new show of daftness. You know it makes sense. Warning - contains jokes from the start.

The Leopard in My House is proof that this leftie, working-class, Radio 4 favourite truly deserves his place in the UK comedy pantheon. Join multi award-winning, BAFTA-nominated writer and comedian Mark Steel for his new tour ‘The Leopard in My House’. The topic? His battle with throat cancer. A battle he is winning (thankfully) and which only his rapier wit could fashion a comedy tour show out of. Cancer has done nothing to dull Mark’s acute political observations or quash his “frankly bonkers” energy: you will laugh, you will cry, but you’ll laugh again, and again, and again. Mark Steel is best known for his critically-acclaimed BBC Radio 4 show Mark Steel’s in Town (now in its 13th series), as well as his hit podcast What The F★★★ Is Going On…?. He has presented the BAFTA-nominated Mark Steel Lectures for BBC Two, and is a regular on BBC One’s Have I Got News for You and BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz. He has also written several acclaimed books, including an adaptation of his critically acclaimed stand-up show Who Do I Think I Am? for Audible.

The Searchers

19 Jun 2025 - 19 Jun 2025

Never say never again, and how true that is. Having made their first attempt at a gentle retirement in 2019 and now with an astonishing three 'final' tours in the can, The Searchers had agreed it was time to retire... Their influence on the world of youth music has been wide ranging and such stellar names as Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, The Ramones, The Byrds and so many more have happily and generously owned up to having been inspired by their rich harmonies and the beautiful sound of their jangling twelve string guitars. Their list of chart successes both here in the U.K and across the globe is never to be forgotten. Sweets For My Sweet, Sugar & Spice, Needles & Pins, Don`t Throw Your Love Away, When You Walk In The Room, What Have They Done To The Rain, Love Potion Number Nine, Goodbye My Love. And that is just a selection of their hits. Fans will have the opportunity to catch some live appearances... their very final ones, they promise! This is definitely (probably) your last chance to wallow in a magical evening of nostalgia and to say what surely will be a final goodbye to The Searchers. Full details: www.the-searchers.co.uk

It's A Mystery

1 Nov 2025 - 1 Nov 2025

A hilarious and moving exploration of the enduring appeal of murder mysteries “I suppose you’re wondering why I’ve gathered you all here this evening.” Tim Benzie, the acclaimed creator and host of Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote presents his now one-man show, a funny and engrossing deep dive into the appeal of murder mysteries. The audience are summoned to the drawing room as Tim takes on the role of detective, examining the clues that drew him to the genre as a child, a journey from Scooby Doo and Encyclopaedia Brown, to German mystery-puzzle books via reading the entire works of Agatha Christie as a teenager. Along the way he draws connections between obsessions with detective films, the TV series Murder, She Wrote and his current Solve-Along show. There is a tenacious theory that in times of societal strife, murder mysteries surge in popularity, and Tim unpacks the notion via stories of his own troubled times, to determine not just why there is a detective in all of us, but ultimately what is the mystery that we’re all trying to solve. Funny, touching and showcasing the delight in pop culture minutiae that has made Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote a cult hit, It’s a Mystery! will appeal to fans of the genre and anyone who’s ever wondered whodunnit (and why). It’s a Mystery! has played to critical acclaim at the 2023 and 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Bread and Roses Theatre London in 2024 and will tour Australia in early 2025.

Written and performed by Andrew Margerison (A Christmas Carol, Frantic Assembly’s Fatherland, Macbeth), and directed by Rebecca Vaughan (A Christmas Carol). Created in collaboration with The Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead.

Manford's Comedy Club

Manford's Comedy Club

9 May 2025 - 12 Dec 2025

A message from Jason Manford. Hello there, Jason here, thanks for stopping by. I've been wondering for while now, why is local stand up comedy not high up on the list of what people think about doing when looking for a great night out. So where do we go? The local pub for a few drinks? Cinema? Maybe a meal with a loved one or a cheeky midweek quiz with some mates. Some people still go out clubbing at one of those city centre discotheques! (shudders). Even ten-pin bowling is considered higher up than comedy! How can that be? How can throwing a massive rock at ten wooden things be more fun than sitting in a dark room with your friends or partner, drink in hand, watching someone funny tell jokes that make you all laugh from your belly for hours and hours and give you something to talk about all the next day? Well let me tell you this: There is a circuit of brilliant comics in this country who thrive in the live arena and want to make you laugh on a regular basis, so I'm going to tell you who they are. My plan is this: I'm going to carefully select some of my favourite comedians from the circuit and send them to a town near you. Simple! Keep on laughing folks, and remember, there's nothing like live!

Both whimsical and dark, his character lives in a twilight zone of bizarre realities between life in solitary and his ‘real’ Muhammad Ali persona. The show takes us into the psyche of an individual who has endured 25 years of the painful effects of mental health and a society plagued by a lack of essential support in part due to decisions made by a few powerful ‘private’ officials, on behalf of the state.

Ardal O'Hanlon - Not Himself

Ardal O'Hanlon - Not Himself

20 Sept 2025 - 8 Mar 2026

Oh, it’s all there! All the trademarks are in evidence in Ardal’s latest show. Beautifully crafted stand-up comedy? Yes. Celebrated use of language? Tick. Lateral thinking, surreal flourishes, sharp observations? Of course. As for the occasional profundity? Maybe. Despite his best attempts over many decades to put the world to rights, it is still a colossal mess. And so, Ardal has no choice but to go out on the road again. Like the good comedy doctor he is, he fearlessly diagnoses the various pathologies and neuroses that are currently ravaging humanity. Disclaimer: No solutions provided. After an alarming experience at the supermarket, Ardal reflects on who he is as a man and a comedian. He examines his own ethnic and religious background, and thinks twice about the very core of his identity as a voice of reason. Is everything a big lie? With no major trauma of his own to draw on for material, apart from the drag of getting older, he also turns his gaze outwards at the joys and follies of contemporary life. Towel Animals? A.I.? Chair Yoga? Cauliflower as a main course? Yes. Yes. Yes. And Yes. No current idiocy is left unexamined. With a highly developed sense of the ridiculous, and proper comedy bones, NOT HIMSELF, is a testament to the healing power of humour. And the joy of jokes.

This event is running across both our Lounge Bar and our Studio, between 3pm - 8pm. Songwriting workshops & performances from two young artists from the Lichfield Arts Emerging Talent Programme will run in the Lounge Bar from 3pm - 4.30pm. After a short break, we'll move to the Studio for an evening of live music from 5pm - 8pm. Join us as we celebrate one year of Ripple Music Group! Sponsored by Fruition Accountancy and Bowbrook Financial Planning, we’re taking over the Garrick to bring you a festival full of live music, songwriting workshops, and nothing but support for our local original music scene! Who are we, you might ask? Well, we started in April 2024, determined to do our bit to contribute to Lichfield’s original music scene… and we’re proud to say that we have grown to provide 5 monthly stages for our local songwriters. One of our audience members described our nights as “like Spotify, but in real life”, and we couldn’t have said it better! We’re passionate about live music discovery - that moment when audiences hear their an artist live for the first time?! Pure magic. And this isn’t about celebrating the artists that already have the experience to have honed their craft. This is also about giving the next generation of artists plenty of local stages to perform their music. Otherwise, there’ll be nobody to headline Wembley in ten years time. So we’re celebrating one year of live music the only way we know how - with a massive party! And of course a massive thank you to our sponsors, Fruition Accountancy and Bowbrook Financial Planners! We’ll start the day by giving back to our music community through songwriting workshops in the lounge bar, for young and established artists alike. Focusing on speed songwriting and colour association, these workshops will provide new methodologies in songwriting to keep those creative juices flowing. There will also be two performances from young performers from the Lichfield Arts Emerging Talent program during this time. Then our evening kicks up a gear as we move into the studio space, and settle in for an evening of four local songwriters who have been right there every step of the way supporting Ripple Music Group from the start. It’s going to be an incredible day full of learning, inspiration and celebration of everything we’ve built so far, together as a community.

From the fevered imaginata of Horror Fiction’s Grand Frightener Garth Marenghi, author of Sunday Times Bestselling Garth Marenghi’s TerrorTome and Garth Marenghi’s Incarcerat, come three freshly rancid tales of… …This Bursted Earth…
