Manford's Comedy Club

Manford's Comedy Club

4 Apr 2026 - 18 Dec 2026

A message from Jason Manford: Hello there, Jason here, thanks for stopping by. I've been wondering for a while now, why is local stand up comedy not high up on the list of what people think about doing when looking for a great night out. So where do we go? The local pub for a few drinks? Cinema? Maybe a meal with a loved one or a cheeky midweek quiz with some mates. Some people still go out clubbing at one of those city centre discotheques! (shudders). Even ten-pin bowling is considered higher up than comedy! How can that be? How can throwing a massive rock at ten wooden things be more fun than sitting in a dark room with your friends or partner, drink in hand, watching someone funny tell jokes that make you all laugh from your belly for hours and hours and give you something to talk about all the next day? Well let me tell you this: There is a circuit of brilliant comics in this country who thrive in the live arena and want to make you laugh on a regular basis, so I'm going to tell you who they are. My plan is this: I'm going to carefully select some of my favourite comedians from the circuit and send them to a town near you. Simple! Keep on laughing folks, and remember, there's nothing like live!

Macbeth

Macbeth

16 Apr 2026 - 16 Apr 2026

Flabbergast’s Macbeth fuses a rigorous and respectful approach to text and storytelling to bring a magical, lucid interpretation of Shakespeare’s blood-soaked tragedy to life. Puppetry, clown, ensemble, physical theatre, and exhilarating live music, combine in a powerful and provocative interpretation. A stripped back set, an aesthetically arresting design, and a tightknit ensemble of actors, this performance is a dark and visceral manifestation of the work’s essence and underlaying themes, drawing out the parallels with modern society. The dominant recurring theme and fundamental narrative that powers The Tragedy of Macbeth is the masculine fear of feminine power; and in this sense, the play is as pertinent today as it has ever been. Flabbergast’s Shakespeare is for everyone, a visceral and eloquent retelling of Shakespeare’s imbrued tale of vicissitude. An exciting and vital interpretation of Macbeth which serves to invigorate one of Shakespeare’s best-known plays with a new intensity British Theatre Guide

Known as “the medic who kick-started the menopause revolution,” Dr Louise will be unpacking the history and the often-neglected science of hormones. She will be revealing decades of misinformation, medical misogyny and attempts for doctors to be silenced by the establishment, all leading to harms to the health of women. There will be lightbulb moments, shocking stories of power and greed, myth busting facts and real-life stories – plus a chance for the audience ask their questions about hormones to Dr Louise, one of the UK’s most pioneering doctors and researchers who has transformed the lives of millions of people globally through sharing her knowledge through her Dr Louise Newson podcast, Balance app, books, social media and educational events. This is more than a health talk – it is a movement and a wake-up call. This show will help people think differently about hormones as well as learn ways to reclaim their health and confidence. Expect to leave empowered, angry, shocked, energised and ready to demand better.

The Four Horsemen of Rising Crime, Global Warming, AI and Culture Wars are galloping towards us. Are we on the road to hell? And can we avoid the potholes? In his brand new tour show 'Fair Cop' Alfie has the antidote to the breakdown of law and order, fake news and the price of baked beans. Somewhere in a parallel universe little Alfie’s natural comedic performance skills were recognised by his doting parents who encouraged and developed his blossoming talent. After several years as a stage school brat Alfie’s angelic face was launched on stage and screen and the rest is history. Meanwhile, in this universe Alfie Moore was told to stop messing about in class before being ‘encouraged’ into the grinding, grimy world of an apprenticeship in the Sheffield steelworks. When recession hit he traded steel for copper by joining Humberside Police. In his 40s the two universes collided when Alfie made a bid for showbiz success – but unfortunately 30 years of shift-work and being punched in the face quite a lot, had left him with ‘a face for radio’. A face not so much ‘lived in’ as inhabited by a settlement of squatters with little regard to property maintenance and repair.

Grayson Perry: Aspects of Myself

Grayson Perry: Aspects of Myself

1 Apr 2026 - 19 Sept 2026

This is RAMM’s first exhibition of the work of Grayson Perry, one of Britain’s best-known contemporary artists. From textiles and pots to etchings and woodcuts, Grayson Perry: Aspects of Myself explores a sense of self through a range of media and storytelling techniques. As an astute observer and chronicler of life in Britain, Perry tackles subjects that are universally human: identity, gender, social status, sexuality, religion and politics. He uses his own experiences to reflect wider narratives about our place in society. Perry says, “I investigate our slippery sense of who we feel we are… the ongoing process of ‘being ourselves’.”  Works such as ‘A Map of Days’ explore how the interests, habits and psychological traits that make up a sense of ‘self’ can be mapped onto towns, reflecting an emotional geography of contemporary society. Other works such as the ceramics, ‘Aspects of Myself’ and ‘Mad Kid’s Bedroom Wall’ show how Perry incorporates autobiographical elements that reflect his own childhood experiences. Please note that some works in this exhibition depict adult themes. The Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery would like to acknowledge the following institutions who have helped to make this exhibition possible: Crafts Council, Hiscox Group, Royal Academy of Arts, and Tate. With special thanks to Grayson Perry and Victoria Miro. This exhibition is also made possible by the provision of Government Indemnity. A Shoddy Nativity

A Shoddy Nativity

4 Dec 2026 - 3 Jan 2027

After the smash-hit success of A Shoddy Christmas Carol — the best-selling Studio Christmas show in Garrick history — Shoddy Theatre return with a brand-new festive fiasco: A Shoddy Nativity. It's opening night of the school nativity. The parents are seated, the tea lights are flickering, and the curtain is about to rise — but there’s just one problem: the children haven’t arrived. With the audience waiting and the vicar already in the front row, a frazzled teacher, an overconfident deputy head, and a well-meaning but wildly misguided TA are forced to step in and save the show. What follows is a heroic (and deeply ill-advised) attempt to stage the Nativity themselves — complete with improvised costumes, missing props, and some very creative interpretations of the Christmas story. Expect frantic costume changes, ill-advised accents, accidental theology, and carols that spiral spectacularly out of control in this gloriously shambolic retelling of the greatest story ever told. Fresh from their hit UK tours A Shoddy Detective and The Art of Deception, and riding high on last year’s festive triumph, Shoddy Theatre are back with their most joyfully disastrous Christmas production yet.

Colour

23 May 2026 - 12 Sept 2026

We live in a dazzling kaleidoscope of shades and hues. Colour is key to helping us make sense of the world, used to communicate by wildlife, plants and people alike. Colour is more than just something we see – it’s something we feel and sometimes even smell. It has the power to symbolise who we are and what we believe, and it is at the heart of some of our most enduring traditions. This exhibition brings together over 150 objects spanning art, science, nature and cultural histories. It explores a spectacular world of colour – how we see it, how it’s made, how it’s used and how meaning can become attached to it. Artworks by Hokusai, Kandinsky, Bridget Riley and Andy Warhol are on display alongside examples of exquisitely crafted decorative ceramics. A diamante-studded Trinidadian carnival costume and Victorian mourning dress illustrate how colour can imbue clothing with cultural significance, while examples of pre-historic gold jewellery show the value of colour across millennia. A family-friendly exhibition packed with vibrant objects, interactive displays and thought-provoking exhibits, this is a chance to see colour in all its glory – come and be surprised by the spectrum of possibilities! Colour has been curated by Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery in partnership with Sheffield Museums; Tullie House, Carlisle; Gosport Museum & Art Gallery, Hampshire; and Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, for the Museums and Galleries Network for Exhibition Touring (MAGNET), with Art Fund support and supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. This exhibition has been made possible by the provision of Government Indemnity. When Leanne Tully is found broken at the base of the Widow’s Leap cliffs, the community offers a swift conclusion: another troubled soul gone to the sea. With the police having buried the case as a suicide, Pearl seeks an unlikely ally: Phil Mackey, a disgraced and half-broken former detective (to be seen in Diane’s Deli: A Tale from Paradise Heights in 2028) now holed up in a rusting caravan on Widow’s Leap Farm overlooking the very cliffs where Leanne died. What begins as a reluctant favour becomes a descent into a nightmare. Mackey uncovers whispers linking Leanne’s death to several unexplained, grotesque incidents in the town — deaths that make no earthly sense.
