The greatest threat to power is love. Compromise is for the weak: and Tosca is nothing of the sort. With her artist beau Cavaradossi (Adam Smith) competing for her affections against the sadistic police chief Scarpia (Noel Bouley), Tosca’s (Sinead Campbell Wallace) story becomes intertwined with the tumultuous political landscape of Rome itself. Already the talk of the town, opera singer Tosca becomes increasingly desperate to stop Scarpia’s plans and must resort to deadly means to wrest back her freedom from those who would suppress it. After all: when passion and politics collide, love can prove a fatal weakness. Christof Loy’s production of Tosca sets the roller coaster story of love, lust, murder and intrigue against a production dripping in operatic grandeur, with Puccini’s beautiful score conducted by one of Britain’s finest young conductors, Leo Hussain. With a dramatic story line and Puccini’s richly romantic score, book your opera tickets now for Tosca: one of the world’s most famous operas. Production from The Finnish National Opera and Ballet

She lives for the glamorous lifestyle of high society, but when she finds herself deeply in love with the penniless aristocratic poet Alfredo, she is willing to give everything up for him. To Die for [A Comedy] - English National Opera
This exuberant and subversive black farce, by British-Russian composer Elena Langer, mocks and questions our obsession with celebrity – and encourages us to embrace the highs and lows of our turbulent, gruesome, joyful and beautiful life. Originally commissioned by the Stanislavski-Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre in Moscow, this comic opera was cancelled after the invasion of Ukraine. The piece was deemed insufficiently patriotic. The existential angst of Semyón Podsekayev drives him to suicide, but he hopes that playing the tuba will save him. A plan that fails miserably. TV presenter Ivan Vane is one of several characters keen to use Semyón’s possible suicide for their own gain. Cue chaos, joyous absurdity and an unexpected twist – courtesy of a romantically-inclined judge. Paired alongside Gilbert & Sullivan‘s Trial by Jury in a 2025 production from Scottish Opera is Sullivan’s The Zoo with words by Bolton Rowe in a new production performed for the first time at ENO. These two one-act operettas are directed by ENO favourite and G&S specialist John Savournin who brings his iconic flair and a 1980s vibe.
