Lurgan Rock Choir

Lurgan Rock Choir

3 Jun 2025 - 23 Sept 2025

Ever wondered if there is a 'local ladies choir near me or nearby'? Your local Lurgan choir is run by vocal tutor Beth McNally. Our choir is made up of many locals who never thought they could sing or hadn't found the right outlet for their secret singing in the car or shower. I don't think any of us expected to make the huge number of great friends we have along the way not just in our own choir but all the nearby Armagh choirs too. Whether you only sing in the shower or along to your car radio, or whether you see yourself belting out a showstopper at Wembley Arena (which we did! - for the ITV1 documentary 'The Choir that Rocks'), there's a place for you in the Lurgan Rock Choir. With no singing audition or need to read music, anyone can come along to a FREE taster session and see why the Lurgan choir members recommend their friends! Here is a quote about our choir - 'Rock Choir and the people in it have made me feel Happy, Energised, Accepted, Confident, Supported and Liked. It has also re-kindled my love of music and singing.' - Fe (Rock Choir member) Rock Choir is a winner of the Red Ribbon 'Big Heart' Award [https://rockchoir.com/awards-achievements/]. and holds 1 former and 2 current Guinness World Records. The choir is also credited with single handedly starting the contemporary choir movement.

Building Bridges Community Arts Theatre proudly presents a high-energy musical packed with heart, performed by talented young actors from our Kids Drama and Youth Theatre classes in Lurgan. Bursting with show-stopping numbers like Carrying the Banner , Seize the Day , King of New York and Santa Fe , Newsies Jr. brings the inspiring story of newsboys who rally together to fight for justice to the stage in spectacular fashion. Based on the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899, this rousing tale follows Jack Kelly, a charismatic teen with dreams beyond the streets of New York City. When powerful newspaper publishers raise distribution prices at the newsboys expense, Jack and his band of newsies rise up to make their voices heardand spark a movement. Specially adapted for younger performers, Newsies Jr. maintains all the heart, courage and excitement of the Broadway hit while being tailored for family audiences. Join us for a powerful and uplifting show of music, dance and youthful determination, and support our young cast as they shine on stage. Expected run time for the performance is 60 minutes with no interval.
