Memo Arts Centre

The Memo is a vibrant multi-arts centre with live event programme, engaging community activities, conference and hireable spaces, and the largest 4K cinema in Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan. With live performances, regular cinema and live broadcasts, specialist film screenings and weekly community events, the Memo is a crucial hub for the local community. The Memo presents professional touring theatre companies, live music, cinema, dance, comedy and hosts many amateur theatre and community events. The venue complex includes a large theatre with the capacity to seat 856, (standing concert 1300), two large multi-purpose spaces with an audience capacity for 200 and 100, smaller hireable spaces and social spaces with café bars.

Coldplace are a tribute band whose quality and experience on the tribute scene are second to none. In 12 years the band have over 600 gigs under their belts across the length and breadth of the UK and abroad in over twenty different countries worldwide. The band are firmly established in many of the UK's top tribute venues with repeat bookings year after year. They regularly tour Europe and have played in 22 different countries worldwide. Their adventures have lead them to appear on Sky News, BBC Radio One and Two and The Gadget Show and to have played at major festivals alongside Bob Geldof, KT Tunstall, Ringo Starr, The Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight and Roxette to name but a few. Coldplace know what is expected from a live tribute show - the accuracy, musicianship, dedication and passion for Coldplay's music. Their aim, as a tribute to one of the world's biggest bands, is to capture the feeling of a live Coldplay performance, the music, the visuals, the energy and the atmosphere. The band have extensive experience of all types of shows, from clubs to theatres, festivals to corporate functions and weddings to birthday parties. They have played for small and large crowds, from a handful of people to over 50,000. They are no strangers to main stages and headline spots at festivals and have played some of the largest tribute festivals in Europe such as Mathew Street Festival, Bospop (Netherlands), Glastonbudget and the legendary Fake Festivals.

Including members of Railroad Bill, Junior Bill, The Heavy Quartet, and Baracwda Samba Band. Fusing Latin grooves with masterful songcraft, their live shows are a joyous celebration that moves the audience both physically and emotionally. Their album Lovers Always Win earned praise from Radio Wales’ Adam Walton as “brilliant,” while Greg Butler of Camp Bestival described them as “an injection of Colombian sunshine… delicious! Welcome back anytime!” The Sun Kings have lit up stages at Glastonbury, Camp Bestival, and Italy’s Pennabilli Festival, and now they bring their uplifting, genre-blending sound to Barry. Supporting them is Lemongel, a Cardiff-based alternative duo crafting emotionally charged songs layered with cinematic soundscapes. Daniel and Duarte explore vulnerability, love, and uncertainty through intimate vocals and evocative arrangements inspired by Bossa Nova, Tame Impala, and D’Angelo. Recently selected for the BBC Horizons Fund, Lemongel is preparing a new project for early 2026, combining music and visually driven storytelling to connect deeply with audiences. The Bug Club's name does a good job of introducing the band and their music: a tight-knit, collaborative effort focussed on telling tales of the everyday that we often take for granted, shot through with humour and riffs-a-plenty. Comprising the creative trio of Sam Willmett (guitar/vocals), Tilly Harris (bass/vocals) & Dan Matthew (drums), The Bug Club formed in 2016 in the little-known rock n' roll hotbed that is Caldicot, Monmouthshire. The band were signed by Bingo Records in Autumn 2020, and released their first single 'We Don't Need Room For Lovin'' in Feb 2021. EPs Launching Moondream One and Pure Particles followed, along with standalone releases Intelectuals and Two Beauties. Initially championed by BBC 6 Music's Marc Riley, along with Adam Walton and Huw Stephens on Radio Cymru, The Bug Club have since earned the support of DJs, fellow artists and press worldwide. Sold-out tours across the UK and in Europe paved the way for a 2023 which will see the band play further afield to an ever-growing loyal fanbase, who can look forward to a number of new releases from the trio this year. Three groovy peas in a far out pod!

Multi-award-winning comedian, presenter, actor, author, and scriptwriter Russell Kane is a regular on Channel 4, BBC, and ITV with recent TV appearances include The Apprentice: Youre Fired, The One Show, Live at the Apollo, The Stand Up Sketch Show, Michael McIntryres Big Show, Antiques Road Trip, Stupid Man, Smart Phone, as well as regular appearances on Stephs Packed Lunch. His chart-smashing BBC Radio 4 / BBC Sounds podcast Evil Genius quickly became a flagship show, and was the best performing original podcast on the platform. It has been turned into a TV show by BBC Studios, and will appear on Sky TV in November 2023. Russell also recently helped present a prime-time, conversation-changing documentary about mens bodies and sperm counts on Channel 4s Celebrity Save Our Sperm. This year he performed headline slots at Latitude, Reading, and Leeds festivals. Winner of Best Show in 2010 at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, Russell went on to make history as the first comedian to win both the Edinburgh Comedy Award and Melbourne Comedy Festivals Barry Award in one year.
