The Southmartins

The Southmartins

9 May 2026 - 13 Feb 2027

The Southmartins are a unique tribute to the songs and sound of The Beautiful South & Housemartins. Constantly gigging since early 2010 in the UK they have built up an unbeatable reputation as a live experience. With a set of classic hits and other bits to draw upon such as Song For Whoever, Don't Marry Her, Perfect 10, Happy Hour and many more they are guaranteed to make you smile, dance and sing. Rather than merely trying to recreate or reproduce the original recordings, or even live performances of the original bands, The Southmartins have always put their own stamp on the material and have led the way in how they approach paying tribute to these classic songs. This is not simple mimicry. Having said that, lead singer Andy's voice is about as close to Paul Heaton as you could hope for without it being the man himself (who has said the band are "very good") and with a highly skilled, and lively band they inject a huge amount of energy and soul into their shows.

I don’t know yet, but it will contain at least one 'yer maw' joke! What I do know is that it’ll be another brand-new combination of stories, opinions and observations about me and my family, as well as all of you. It's always about people and the mad things we do, sometimes animals too, but more often than not it's about people and the stupid scenarios we end up in.

Following the untimely death of lead singer Ian Curtis, the band went on to huge world-wide success as New Order. For 2026, New Dawn Fades reunites the creative team from last year's sell-out tour, with producers NIGEL CARR and TONY DAVIDSON. How can it be you have spent a whole ten minutes staring at a banana? Why do you always do stuff like that? Why do you never do the other really great things where it’s much, much better - and afterwards you don’t want to saw off your own face and post it back to yourself with not quite enough stamps? Also, learn how to make breakfast not even knowing you are out of bed. Diagnose the mirror, reason with the mice and boil yoghurt blindfolded. Enjoy the fruits of hurtling cognitive decline and your neighbour’s sprawling ghastliness, absence of humanity and so, so much more. These times have not been easy. We Got This is the brand new show from BAFTA and Perrier award winning comedian Dylan Moran. It promises to be a joyously furious romp through the frustration and folly of modern day life.
Gig School

Gig School

14 Apr 2026 - 14 Apr 2026

Gig School is an exciting opportunity for young people to play, rehearse and perform in a band setting. Young musicians taking part will learn how to communicate with each other as a band, learn about live music rehearsal, set-up and soundcheck, and performance techniques. They’ll perform in large bands, as well as getting the chance to form ‘breakaway bands’ during the week. The sessions are led by a team of 4 experienced tutors specialising in guitar, bass, keys, drums and vocals. This activity is open to young people aged 12-17 and we advise that young people playing guitar, bass, keys, and drums have some experience (beginner level to advanced) on their instruments. Singers of all abilities are welcome.

The group often take part in live performances at events across the region. Past performances have included concerts at the Town Hall, Ripon Cathedral, and Middlesbrough's Christmas Big Sing.
