25's Cijin White Roses Chronicle is a soundscape documentary music theatre inspired by the 1973 Cijin ferry disaster in Kaohsiung, where 25 female labourers lost their lives. Honouring their resilience during Taiwan's rapid industrialisation, the interdisciplinary work reclaims narrative agency through music, Butoh dance, documentary video, and immersive sound. Created by Hsin-I Chen and Ng Chor Guan, with stage design by Red Dot Award recipient Chien-Ming Chao, the performance unfolds in three acts Paths, Choices, Returning Home exploring memory, loss, and identity. A Platinum Award winner at the MUSE Design Awards 2025, it is adapted for sustainable international touring.
