Pearl & The Oysters, the duo of Juliette Pearl Davis (Juju) and Joachim Polack (Jojo), formed a decade ago in Paris, where they lived until they were young adults. Together, they make music a lot like their current base of Los Angeles: sunny on the surface, darker and more layered at its roots. Their fizzy, squiggly lounge pop - now leaning toward '70s piano rock as well as Brazilian, exotica and city pop influences - asks how to live with uncertainty and disquiet. In January 2025, as Trump's second inauguration loomed and wildfires raged through LA. Juju stayed up all night crying. The next morning, she woke to find that Jojo had written a song for her, "Wide Awake," a calm offering in the midst of panic. From that moment, the process of creating Monkey Mind began. Pearl & The Oysters' new album Monkey Mind takes its title from the Buddhist concept of a restless, looping consciousness: thoughts jumping, spiraling and rarely settling. Produced by Jonathan Rado (Weyes Blood, The Lemon Twigs, Father John Misty), the record follows that cycle across the span of a day, beginning in a state of calm before the mind wakes up, gathers speed, and eventually softens again. Parviz’s self-titled debut album is slated for release in 2026: infused with psych, funk and classic sounds from the Persian world, it evokes the spirit of Iran’s 70’s music scene while adding a contemporary touch. At times buoyant, variegated and contemplative, it’s like an old taping of Iran’s beloved show Rangarang brought back to life. Flowing detuned synths and DIY aesthetics give it this indie je-ne-sais-quoi; it’s candid, nostalgic, dreamy and fierce, both rooted in Persian culture and distinctly modern. Lead single “Azadeh” - a female given name meaning “free-spirited” - pays homage to the “Woman Life Freedom” movement, with artwork by Rana Fadavi emphasising its urgency. Follow-up “Sappho’s Fragments” aired on BBC Radio 6 and has totalled more than 300k streams in its first 6 months after release. Parviz’s music aired on BBC Radio 1, Radio 6, FIP, and has been found on playlists from Facemelts, A1234 and many more. Parviz will be touring in the UK in February & March 2026 for his “Khorshid Khanoom” tour.

Baba Yaga's Hut present: The Silver Birch (Pete Wareham, Ruth Goller, Betamax, Chris Sharkey) at Moth Club, November 21st In 2011, the plan for genre-destroying, trail-blazing punk-jazz upsetters Acoustic Ladyland was to re-emerge under the new name Silver Birch. After several years of constant touring and playing together, Pete Wareham (tenor saxophone), Chris Sharkey (guitar), Ruth Goller (bass) and Seb Rochford (drums) recorded what they felt was the strongest album the band had ever made. The label at the time disagreed, the project was shelved, and Wareham soon moved on to form Melt Yourself Down. 15 years later, that "lost" album - High on the Western Hill - is finally being released by Kit Records. To mark the release, a new incarnation of Silver Birch featuring Max Hallett / Betamax (The Comet Is Coming) on drums will perform the music live for the first time. The music captures the band at its most intense and exploratory: heavy grooves colliding with anthemic improvisation, mind-bending rhythmic virtuosity, extended song forms and euphoric saxophone lines. Rooted equally in post-punk energy, experimental rock and dynamic improvisation, the album now feels startlingly contemporary - a missing link between Acoustic Ladyland and the diverse compositional approaches that would later define the work of all four musicians. \ Part of the EFG London Jazz Festival Presented by Baba Yaga's Hut. Dancing Barefoot presents a celebration of the words and music of Leonard Cohen at Moth Club, Hackney on the 10th anniversary of his passing. With a lineup comprised of some of London’s most exciting voices in folk and alt-rock including Clara Mann, Zach Thompson, Bande á Part and Zac Lawrence, Misty Miller and Painted Bird accompanied by revolving house bands, this night will pay tribute to the legacy of Cohen’s singular voice and songwriting spanning six decades. Soft are an alternative rock quintet from South London, known for their noisy textures and unforgettable stage presence. Their shows are so energetic that one was almost shut down within 30 seconds. Emerging from the same scene that produced bands like Maruja and Deadletter, they’ve also supported acts such as Fat Dog on tour. Gegenpress is a London-based post-hardcore and art-noise trio formed in 2022 that blends industrial punk with experimental rock. The band released their debut album, Don’t Live For Heaven, in March 2026. Omertà are a chaotic noise punk 6-Piece hailing from the depths of South London. Since first performing in early 2025, they’ve made a name for themselves as the table smashing, naked wrestling trouble makers of the various low-cap venues across the nation’s capital, combining the cacophonous, discordant guitars of bands like Big Black, with lo-fi melodic egg punky synth lines, and the raucous energy of their hardcore punk predecessors. Childhood friends Will Foot and Lewis Henderson, whose early love of soul developed after discovering Lewis’ Dad’s record collection, started DNSC a decade ago at Deptford’s Bunker Club in South East London. Since then, they have taken the hugely popular club-night all over the UK, performing at festivals such as Glastonbury, Green Man and End of the Road, and in iconic public arts institutions like Tate Modern, Southbank Centre and Manchester International Festival. Whether behind the decks, dancing out front, or in discussion, their sheer love and passion for soul is infectious, as is the spark of friendship and mutual musical appreciation between the two of them. Thirty-two years old but with old heads on their sharply dressed young shoulders, they have emerged as the new face of Northern Soul, bringing the movement back into the conversation of modern dance music. Over the past 6 years, DNSC has held residencies at London’s infamous Moth Club and at The Pink Room at YES in Manchester. They have also built up followings outside of London and Manchester, taking their party to some of the UK’s most well-known clubs and venues, such as, Sneaky Pete’s (Edinburgh), Concord 2 (Brighton), The Menagerie (Belfast), Belgrave Music Hall (Leeds), Zerox (Newcastle), Hare & Hounds (Birmingham), Lost Horizon (Bristol) and Faith in Strangers (Margate), to name a few. The overwhelmingly positive reception to the music led Will and Lewis to decide to venture into the record business themselves. In 2019, they formed DNSC Records, in association with PIAS, and have subsequently reissued over 60 elusive Northern Soul tracks on 45rpm 7” vinyl. Will and Lewis pride themselves on having cultivated a community and culture to their club-nights, where people forge their own experience with the genre and fall in love with some of the best music ever cut to wax, over a sound system that leaves noting to be desired - so, it might not be quite what you’d expect from a typical Northern Soul night, it isn’t like stepping back into the past, it’s like the music stepping forward into 21st century, with all the benefits of modern audio fidelity, bringing it back to where it deserves to be heard, in a very moving and dance oriented way. “We not interested in nostalgia - we love soul music because it’s brilliant. Imagine that Fujiya & Miyagi are mask-wearing technicians dissecting music, keen to magnify particles of sound to create a pulsing antidote to the ordinary. They speak in tongues, using language as a rhythm, picking words that sound good, rhyming 'jigsaws' with 'carnivores'. Their songs are incisive snapshots of real lives that make household appliances sound threatening. They are steeped in vintage music from evocative krautrock to deep soul, with wafts of early Human League synth, Floydian Englishness and the throbbing groove of Tom Tom Club, all filtered for modern times. In total, Fujiya & Miyagi don't really sound like anything. Instead, they sound like everything condensed into perfectly arranged three minute chunks of infectious pop music, a strange hybrid of James Brown on Valium and Wire gone pop. Or maybe Serge Gainsbourg with a PhD in electronics backed by David Byrne's Eno-produced scratchy guitar mixed by MF Doom. It's Darwinism gone mad. Formed in 2000 as an electronic duo of David Best (guitars and vocals) and Steve Lewis (synths, beats, programming), they released Electro Karaoke In The Negative Style two years later, a minimal electronic set it hangs eerily on Best's distinctive whispered vocal. Adding bass player Matt Hainsby in 2004, they released a series of ten inch EPs that took them to the hearts of fanzineland. Gathered together these parables of personal injury, both physical and mental, made up three quarters of the well-received (Pitchfork, NME, MOJO, etc) album Transparent Things in 2006. Named after a Nabokov brain dump on the relationship between the past and the present. It sums them up. A 12-inch, Uh, further concentrated their sound. A set of vocal ticks, a funky bass and a storyline about a relationship as prickly as two porcupines, it made small talk sound sinister over an infectious groove. It was the perfect set up for their first album proper, Lightbulbs - imagine 11 classic ideas clicking on above your head, now with real drums in places, courtesy of Lee Adams, and the picture is complete. Fujiya & Miyagi stay away from lyrical themes that have been done to death. Using old synths to punctuate their beautifully-observed anecdotes on romantic triumphs and disasters, heroes and villains and the world at large, their rhythms palpitate to produce modern symphonies like no-one else. Lightbulbs is a journey littered with fragmented images, anecdotes from the sublime to the ridiculous, blurry stories that you feel you shouldn't have overheard. Each track an aural contamination set to itch your inner ear every waking moment. "I'll never be Big Maybelle," says David Best of his unique singing style. True, but as a stylist fronting a band inspired by their evolution, plundering the past but set in the future, Fujiya & Miyagi's Light Bulbs carves a niche of its own. This is truly contagious music, a completely unique take on modern pop music that's completely their own.

Pisces are a London-based alt/indie rock band with unpredictable songwriting and a sound that refuses to sit still. Since 2024, they’ve sold out headline shows across East London, played festival showcases at Isle of Wight and Y Not, and toured the UK supporting The Subways. Their single ‘Monday’ has picked up support from Matt Plumb (BBC Introducing), Emily Pillbeam (BBC 6 Music) and John Kennedy (Radio X), with coverage from Chalkpit Cassette Club’s New Wave. Now with viola joining the lineup, pisces are pushing their sound into darker, richer and more unexpected territory. ‘Toy Town’ their latest single, is the first flurry of releases, with 'Toy Town EP' Landing in March. Initially coming from the DIY hardcore scene, Coilguns have crafted since then their very own blend of pissed-off punk and extatic noise-rock. The history of the band is deeply bound to the development of guitarist Jona Nido’s own label – Hummus Records – that now gathers up to 150 releases from Swiss artists of all sonic horizons. Though their last two albums were 100% self-produced, engineered and mixed by the band members, Coilguns drove in the summer of 2022 to end-of-the-world’s Oceansound Recordings in Norway with producer Scott Evans to track their 4th studio album which was then mixed by grammy nominated producer Tom Dalgety. The band is known for its raw, uncompromising and euphoric live performances, proudly serving the dancing freaks and the crowd-surfing weirdos.

Ten years ago four silly sausages went to Soup Recording Studio in London to haphazardly play their semi-tuned instruments. Pulled Apart by Horses are an alternative rock band from Leeds, England. They formed in early 2008. In 2009 they were successfully signed by Transgressive Records and released their debut self-titled album Pulled Apart by Horses on 21 June 2010. In August 2011, the band went into Monnow Valley Studio in Wales to record with renowned Foo Fighters & Pixies record producer Gil Norton, and their second album Tough Love was released to critical acclaim on 20 January 2012. After Tough Love, the band sold out their first European tour, and went on to support Biffy Clyro & Foals. In 2010 they supported Muse at the Manchester County Cricket Ground. In September 2014 the band's 3rd album Blood became their first top 40, entering the charts at 38. In 2016, Pulled Apart by Horses recorded a take over for Annie Mac and the BBC's Radio 1 in the United Kingdom. The band's 4th album, The Haze was released in March 2017 and reached number 12 in the charts. In October 2019, Pulled Apart By Horses released the stand alone single ‘Is This Thing On?’ Through Transgressive Records and have also revealed that they are currently working on their 5th album​

City Slang Xmas Party - one night only! Sydney's sax-and-drums duo Party Dozen hit London, two people making the noise of ten: Kirsty Tickle howling into the bell of her saxophone, Jonathan Boulet hitting the drums like they owe him money. The songs from new album 21 Bum Salute get pulled apart and rebuilt on the spot, and nobody in the room knows exactly where it's going, including them. Joining them are City Slang labelmates Die Anstalt. The Berlin trio weld early EBM and synth-punk to post-punk and reverb-soaked surf guitar, and arrive fresh from the reissue of their self-titled debut. Family Stereo is the indie-folk project of London based singer-songwriter Blake Watt, established in 2018. With several self-released EPs to his name, his sound combines rich lyrics and an intricate, finger-picked style with distorted folk-rock, alt-country and dreamlike soundscapes.
