The Vaselines were formed in Edinburgh in 1987 by singers/guitarists Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee, soon signing to Pastels frontman Stephen Pastel's newly formed 53rd 3rd label. Nirvana's Kurt Cobain regularly cited the Vaselines influence in interviews with the music press and Nirvana would go on to cover the Vaselines' Molly's Lips and Son of a Gun (both later compiled on their Incesticide collection) as well as perform Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam on their legendary MTV Unplugged appearance. Cobain's gospel-spreading no doubt accelerated their rise to cult sainthood, but the Vaselines would have gotten there sooner or later on their own accord. Lewd but nave and abrasive yet tender, the band's shambling, primitivist squall remains a perfect distillation of pop at its most guileless and euphoric.Eugene Kelly later went on to front Captain America / Eugenius, while McKee spent the better part of the decade out of sight, resurfaced in Suckle, and released a solo album in 2006. The Vaselines reunited proper in 2010 to record their second full album Sex With An X which was released on the Seattle label Sub Pop.This was followed by V for Vaselines in 2014. The Ramones inspired album featured many of the same players who helped make 'Sex.....', including Belle and Sebastian's Stevie Jackson, the 1990's Michael McGaughrin and Teenage Fanclub's Francis Macdonald.

Welly is an extraordinary character with a remarkable literary way of describing himself, his band and society. A square peg in the round hole of suburban life, Welly embraced his difference from an early age and went onto channel his observations on suburbia into songs. Miki Berenyi Trio are Miki Berenyi on vocals/guitar (Lush), Kevin ‘Moose’ McKillop on guitar (Moose) and Oliver Cherer (Gilroy Mere, Aircooled). The three musicians first worked together during Piroshka’s 2021 tour. Miki and Kevin being founder members, Oliver coming in on bass to replace Mick Conroy (Modern English) who had moved to the US. When the global pandemic made touring impossible, Miki spent the lockdown months writing her memoir, Fingers Crossed, released in 2022 to widespread acclaim. To provide some musical accompaniment for the string of book events and signings, Miki Berenyi Trio was formed.

Chastity Belt take cues from both the politics of the riot grrrl scene and the intricate, moody guitar-based sound of early-'90s Pacific Northwestern indie bands like Sleater-Kinney and Autoclave and Walla Walla.

Wasted Youth were an English post-punk band from London, England, active between 1979 and 1982, which blended post-punk/pre-Goth with dark acoustic strains of the sort associated with Nick Drake and Syd Barrett. In 2021, Ken Scott and Rocco Barker announced that they were reviving Wasted Youth, with new members joining the band. The first shows for the reformed band sold out within hours of going on sale.

Plenty of people come to Los Angeles looking to make their California dreams a reality. But zzzahara has always been here, turning reality into a dream. Born and raised in Highland Park, where they still reside, zzzahara (the solo moniker of Eyedress/Simpsguitarist Zahara Jaime) has witnessed both gang-blighted and gentrified L.A. along the same geographical blocks. Like the transforming city itself, zzzahara has undergone massive personal changes, their characteristic stoicism giving way to a newfound sense of purpose. Liminal Spaces, their debut LP from Lex Records, explores a life hanging in the balance between memory and possibility over frenetic Johnny Marr-esque guitar jangle. This is a 14+ event .

The Burning Hell is the alter-ego of Canadian songwriter Mathias Kom, and the band has been on the road in one form or another since 2007, playing everywhere from festivals like Glastonbury and Dawson City to bars, living rooms, abandoned bunkers, and a mental asylum in rural France. Musically, The Burning Hell runs the gamut from introspective folk to hyperactive rock and roll, and so the band can adapt to its surroundings like a karma of anthropomorphic chameleons, taking the audience on a supermarket-cart ride through hooky, upbeat pop songs, dark ballads about pet euthanasia, and anthems for barbarians, economic conferences, and love.

Cerys Hafana is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who mangles, mutates, and transforms traditional music. She explores the creative possibilities and unique qualities of the triple harp, and is also interested in found sounds, archival materials and electronic processing. She comes from Machynlleth, Wales, where rivers and roads meet on the way to the sea. Cerys has won over audiences from Green Man to the Eisteddfod and from BBC 6 Music Festival to Celtic Connections with her magical, progressive sound. Her second album Edyf was selected as one of The Guardian’s Top Ten albums of 2022, as well as receiving wide-spread media attention and critical acclaim.

Baba Yaga's Hut Presents: Led Bib + Marcus Hamblett & Tom Heather Drummer and composer Mark Holub formed Led Bib in 2003 for a university masters project. Made up of his Middlesex university friends, the five piece played its first gig at London’s Klinker Club on February 24th 2004 to ten people in the backroom of a North London pub. Five years later they were performing on primetime TV to millions, having been nominated as a Mercury Prize album of the year. Theirs was a full gas acceleration to that point. Having had their first album met with widespread critical praise in May 2005, they also won the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award in the same year. A second album, Sizewell Tea released in 2007 through iconic London label Babel brought more interest, bigger features, better reviews. There was a notable shift in numbers too, audiences grew as fans cottoned on to a new jazz movement, of which Led Bib was a frontrunner, ditching the noodling and pulling more into rock territory. As they drew references from across the musical spectrum Beefheart and Zorn, Pink Floyd and Miles Davis so too did they draw in a larger swathe of interest, drum and bass heads, jazz aficionados, death metalists and folk, world music and pop fans were, in equal number, their audience. A limited edition live release appeared in 2008, but it was the release of their 4th album Sensible Shoes that saw them experience widespread acclaim following the announcement that they were chosen as an Album of the Year in the 2009 Barclaycard Mercury Prize. The ensuing media storm saw them reach in excess of 20 million people as they performed on TV & Radio sessions including Channel 4 TV News with Jon Snow, playing live on BBC 2 and found a befuddled and unlikely pundit in Holub being asked to explain the likes of “what is jazz?” to the masses of early morning BBC breakfast radio listeners . In 2011 the group released Bring Your Own, their second album for US based Cuneiform Records. Quickly hailed as a stand out success it gained 4 and 5 star reviews across the board. 2014 saw the release of two new albums to celebrate their 10th anniversary, the studio album 'The People in Your Neighbourhood' and the limited edition live vinyl 'The Good Egg', both hailed as modern classics and there best yet. 2017 sees the band release their eagerly anticipated 6th studio album and first with genre defying London label Rare Noise Records, a tour of Europe and the UK will be done in support. Food house is a 2-person frenetic internet supergroup composed of Fraxiom and Gupi. The pair bonded while both living in (and despising) Fraxiom's home state of Massachusetts, one the many topics of 'Thos Moser', their first collaboration and smash hit first release on Dylan Brady's Dog Show Records. Their self-titled album is crammed full of pop culture references and obscure inside jokes but resonates much deeper than its surface-level silliness through Gupi's expansive, addictive instrumentals and Fraxiom's earnest and unapologetic lyrical perspective.

CIEL met on the South Coast of England where they distilled their differing influences into grunge-pop finery. Early on the band caught the eye of BBC 6’s Steve Lamacq who included them as a spotlight artist on his show. They gained further radio plays across the UK and US (BBC 6 Music, KEXP, WFUV) as well as loyal support from online publications like CLASH Magazine, Under The Radar and Earmilk.

One word can describe their music, style and performance. Haunting. Three girls make up the band covering each part of the classic power trio. Their songs range from raging goth rock to eerie beautiful swoons.

Over the course of 10 years, Dan Mangan has gone from a bearded 20-something troubadour playing coffee shop open mics to earning top ten radio hits, scoring Hollywood films, and winning multiple JUNO Awards. Today, the acclaimed songwriter returns to the rich, earnest, sentimental songwriting that he started with as a bright-eyed singer/songwriter in Vancouver. 'More or Less is about witnessing birth, and in some ways rebirth. 'It's about feeling disconnected from a popular identity and becoming acclimated to a new one. It's about raising kids in a turbulent world. It's about unanswerable questions and kindness and friendship and fear. 'This is my fifth album. I worked with some incredible people who have made many of my favourite albums. It was an important lesson in minimalism, and while their consolidated stamp on the album is vast, it's a credit to their creative generosity that the result feels more like 'me' than ever. 'More sparse. Less meticulous. More kids. Less time. More direct. Less metaphor. More discovery. Less youth. More warmth. Less chaos. 'In between recording sessions, I'd listen to Van Morrison's Astral Weeks and Nick Drake's Pink Moon. I'd think about how sometimes, what seems unfinished at genesis can feel more final when given a moment to settle. 'In my twenties, I boxed my way from the corners of every noisy bar that would let me bring in my guitar. I was stubbornly optimistic. 'When things began to click, it felt like I had the benefit of the doubt from every direction. 'I signed with my dream label. I even won some JUNO Awards and was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize a couple of times. I performed for Will and Kate. 'My girlfriend Kirsten somehow tolerated these years of relentless touring and we got married in 2012. I remember having a lengthy and heated long distance call about our wedding guest-list while laying on an airport floor in Croatia. 'I'd been touring non-stop for six consecutive years and the phone just kept ringing, but I felt my mind and body start to fail. When we learned that we were going to have a baby, I told my manager that I wanted to take a year away from touring. I felt I'd earned it. That one year away from the grind sort of slowly became six. 'We had another kid. We nested. I swept the floor ten thousand times. I scored a film, and then some television shows. 'As the fog of domestic obligations shifted, I began to regain a sense of myself as an artist. But things were different. I wasn't a part of the new generation anymore. I knew how to keep racoons from tearing up my lawn, but not so much about youth culture (and the music industry is, uhhhh all tied up in youth culture). 'Moreover, politics were different. Dystopic forebodings I'd previously written about seemed to be coming true. Had I manifested them? I was re-entering the world but the rules had changed, and I was a different person. 'So I wrote about warmth. I wrote about the feeling of building something when I was young, and the fear of losing it as an adult. I wrote about feeling overwhelmed. I wrote about being in love with someone with whom I spend a lot of time figuring out who is more deserving of a nap. 'I wrote about the power of what goes unsaid. More or less, I wrote about myself. 'The recording process was piecemeal over several years and full of eye-opening experiences. Paul McCartney even wandered into the studio as we were listening back to a take of Lay Low. 'We ended up scrapping what he heard, but well he heard something I wrote. Let that be an omen. 'Drew Brown was a collaborator and mentor, forever changing my understanding of studio recording. His impact on this work is vital. He brought Joey Waronker, Jason Falkner and Darrell Thorp into the fold, whose collective creativity and instincts helped discover nuances in the songs I could never have dreamed of. 'Two songs were recorded with Simone Felice who introduced me to Ryan Hewitt and Matt Johnson. Along with my longtime pals Gordon Grdina and John Walsh, this team found a vibrant subtlety that helped me rethink my identity as a singer. I cannot thank them enough. 'Everyone who touched this album did so with wholehearted dedication and love. 'I am grateful that they would trust this work and approach it with such care and ownership. 'I am ready to share these songs. 'I don't know where the gig is. I don't know if it's cool. But I still get lost in it, and I've got more to lose.' Dan Mangan, August 2018

The Canadian folk singer renowned for her purity of voice and composer of the ever-fresh ’Morning Dew’; once at the heart of Greenwich Village heyday when she sang at Gerdes Folk City with the likes of Paul Simon, and Bob Dylan. The UK’s premier purveyors of Cosmic Americana riding a wave of creativity and acclaim, with two successive classic albums Hollow Heart and On A Golden Shore. The spry octogenarian and the psychedelic cowboys proved a match ripe to be made. Since Bonnie’s reemergence, at Jarvis Cocker’s Meltdown, she’d been interacting with a host of London musicians, but when the Stars came onto her horizon she sensed she’d found the perfect accompanists for her new compositions. With no concrete plan they worked up a few songs, then went into Sean Read’s Famous Times to see what might happen. What might happen is now a forthcoming album with some new titles, notably the autobiographical ‘Dreams’ giving the lie to ‘Morning Dew’s finality, and opening up the future that former song closed down, an older favourite ‘Stay With Me Tonight’, and a revisit to Dino Valenti’s 60s anthem ‘Get Together’. Their album “Dreams” will be released on 11th July 2025 on Loose Music. This is an 14+ event

No Joy formed in November 2009 when guitarist/vocalist Jasamine White-Gluz was living in Los Angeles and guitarist/vocalist Laura Lloyd was living in Montreal. The pair wrote songs as long-distance collaborators until White-Gluz moved to Montreal and they could play shows together.

Psych presents: World News + Guests World News are a London-based quartet creating jangly, atmospheric and dreamy guitar driven music. Last year, they released 2 standout EP's, all brimful of their trademark addictive guitar lines, seductive melodies and ever-guessing moods. Recently nominated in Stereogums 40 Best New Artists of 2024, and featured in SPIN's and The FADER's artists to watch in 2025, this year they've set sites on their debut album and will be bringing their sound further afield. The Bug Club's name does a good job of introducing the band and their music: a tight-knit, collaborative effort focussed on telling tales of the everyday that we often take for granted, shot through with humour and riffs-a-plenty. Comprising the creative trio of Sam Willmett (guitar/vocals), Tilly Harris (bass/vocals) & Dan Matthew (drums), The Bug Club formed in 2016 in the little-known rock n' roll hotbed that is Caldicot, Monmouthshire. The band were signed by Bingo Records in Autumn 2020, and released their first single 'We Don't Need Room For Lovin'' in Feb 2021. EPs Launching Moondream One and Pure Particles followed, along with standalone releases Intelectuals and Two Beauties. Initially championed by BBC 6 Music's Marc Riley, along with Adam Walton and Huw Stephens on Radio Cymru, The Bug Club have since earned the support of DJs, fellow artists and press worldwide. Sold-out tours across the UK and in Europe paved the way for a 2023 which will see the band play further afield to an ever-growing loyal fanbase, who can look forward to a number of new releases from the trio this year. Wine Lips is a Toronto-based garage-punk-psych band formed in 2015 by Cam Hilborn (vocals, songwriter, guitar) and Aurora Evans (drums). Initially a part-time project, they transitioned to a full-time band and have achieved international recognition. Their music is characterized by energetic, high-octane riffs and sneering vocals, often described as psych-pop, acid rock, and noise prog.

My Kinda Girl is the third in a series of singles put out this year that will pave the way for his forthcoming debut album in 2019. Born in Essex, Scott Lavene was raised on power ballads, punk and swearing. In bands since his teens, Scott travelled about, scratching out a living with deadbeat jobs trying to find something to cling to. After couple of years in France and a brief stint in New York, including a playing at the infamous CBGB's Scott returned to London and came close to a major label deal with his sordid songs. Instead Scott disappeared on a rusty old boat, a floating shed, for five years. Hiding from the world. Broke and bemused. Solitude and lonely debauchery. After five years of this Scott went kaput, so spent some time in a house for the bewildered where he emerged full of life and songs. A self released album in a band called Big Top Heartbreak led to being signed to Funnel Music as a solo artist. The first single, 'It's All Gonna Blow' has been played by Steve Lamacq on his BBC 6Music show and Scott had a residency at the Brighton Fringe as well as a sell out show at Crofters Rights in Bristol for the 7inch vinyl release show.

Swedish trio Death And Vanilla follow their much-praised re-imagined soundtracks to Vampyr (2017) and The Tenant (2018) with their interpretation of the soundtrack to cult 1968 TV programme Whistle And I’ll Come To You, at a time when post-ambient electronica and bedevilled folk music are cohabiting, and the public’s interest in rites and rituals has been sparked by a new generation of fans. The bizarre storyline of Whistle And I’ll Come To You seems even more pertinent... and strangely haunting. The Jonathan Miller-adapted 1968 ghost story was originally part of BBC’s Omnibus series and featured Michael Horden as a fussy professor who discovers an ancient whistle which summons up the spirits. A folkloric tale in the style of The Wicker Man. The esoteric live score was recorded at the Hypnos Theatre in Malmö. The 42-minute soundtrack utilises stuttering tape loops on ‘Intro’ before breathing new life into the primitive John Carpenter-like drum machine on ‘Supernatural Breakfast’, while ‘Walk On The Beach 2’ sounds like a hauntological rendition of a Broadcast classic. Death and Vanilla utilise vintage musical equipment such as vibraphone, organ, mellotron, tremolo guitar and moog, to emulate the sounds of 60s/70s soundtracks, library music, German Krautrock, French Ye-ye pop and 60s psych. They revel in the warmth of older analogue instruments to create an organic sound, each loose wire and off-kilter noise adding to the rich atmosphere. Merging a dynamic bombast of angular guitars, disconcerting monologues and a rhythm section both technical and unruly, London's Legss create a wholly unique sound.

Dead Dads Club are a 4-piece rock band from Malvern, UK. Drawing influences from the sensibilities and melodies of 60s guitar bands through to the high energy anthems of the 90s, their sound has often been compared to bands such as The Stone Roses, Oasis and The Doors. Dead Dads Club explode onto the stage fusing together a driving rythmn section topped with addictive melodies and harmonies, creating a wall of sound drowning in attitude.

LUNG LEG formed in Glasgow in 1994 and were part of the city’s vibrant DIY underground scene. They blended elements of post-punk, C86, and riot grrrl, creating a sound described as indie rock, pop-punk, and garage rock. The original lineup included Jane McKeown ("Jane Egypt"), Annie Spandex, Amanda "Jade Green" Doorbar, and Maureen "MoMo" Quinn. They released two EPs in the mid-1990s: ‘The Negative Delinquent Autopsy’ and ‘Shagg the Tiger’. The band's debut album, "Maid to Minx," was released in 1997. Lung Leg’s songs are soaked in hedonistic tales of Glasgow nights out, living life on the central Scottish edge between the dole and the pub, the music pumped full of adrenalin. Seriously, if you tune your mind into just the guitars you’ll be doing mental somersaults. But you’d also be missing the vocal interplay, call-and-response work, lyrics that read like surrealist, grimy narratives. At the turn of the century Lung Leg imploded, scattering their component members to different parts of the country or to other groups. After a reissue of the singular ‘Maid To Minx’ album in 2022, the band reformed with new members Paul Thompson, Simone Antigone and Hando Morice, playing a reunion gig in Glasgow that December. They have since featured in the documentary ‘Since Yesterday: The Untold Story’. Lung Leg will be releasing their first new record in October. Unmarry Me! are about bending, queering, breaking and resetting rules, smudging boundaries and in the main having a lot of excellent fun!! At first the band was a duo between Katherine Parlour and Ella Risi, who met while studying philosophy and music respectively in Manchester, before meeting Michael Nash and Sian Lynch through a Facebook community page for fellow young musicians. They started out by playing at Brixton’s The Windmill, where Lou Smith got a recording of their set. The band gathered recognition after Courtney Love reposted Smiths video to her instagram story, Parlour and Risi was at a pub as their phones were blowing up with Courtney Love fans flocking to follow the band.

Henriette Motzfeldt and Catharina Stoltenberg bring the innovative spirit of their adopted Copenhagen to bear on their past, one that’s marked by adolescent choir practices and dance rehearsals in their native Oslo, winter vacations spent in small cabins nestled in the vast, untouched landscapes of the Norwegian countryside, and an innate belief in collective responsibility. Believer melds sonic touchstones from their youth, like musicals and classical music, with swirling, trance-indebted synth lines and hip-hop plus R&B vocals.
