The MWR&BC & Ruth Gibbs Presents back 2 kcab shows with BEAUX GRIS GRIS & THE APOCALYPSE (First Night) THE MUSE BRECON Internationally acclaimed roots-rock band Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse are returning to Wales this summer for two exclusive, full-band electric performances. These will be the bands only club dates in Wales and their only summer club shows of 2025. Known for their high-energy performances and unique blend of rock, soul, blues, and swampy Americana, Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse have captivated audiences across the UK, Europe, and the United States. With accolades for their genre-defying sound and magnetic live presence, theyve grown a dedicated international fan base and have become festival favourites across the circuit. These special performances celebrate the small venues that gave the band their startintimate spaces that supported and believed in Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse from the very beginning. To mark the occasion, both nights will be professionally audio recorded for a special upcoming live release, capturing the raw energy and connection of this rare and powerful weekend. SPECIAL GUEST THIS SHOW ONLY: JON AMOR will be joining the band, legendary UK guitarist and songwriter Jonbest known for his work with The Hoax, Jon Amor Trio, and countless solo and collaborative projects. Widely regarded as one of the most soulful and electrifying guitarists in the UK, Jons appearance makes this a must-see evening for fans of blues, rock, and raw musicianship. Bjc Showcase: Tiggy Blackwell Quintet & Huw Llewellyn Quartet

One Jazz Evening / Two amazing lineups - and a guest promoter! Tiggy (Antigone) Blackwell is a young trombonist who has impressed audiences in her performances in both the Siglo Section Big Band and in our 'Marquee Day' Funkyard Collective. Here, Tiggy leads her own quintet playing a mix of jazz standards and own work. Huw Llewellyn is a young trumpeter from South Wales who has won admiration for his performances around Cardiff and more, and we've invited Huw to come play BJC with his own quartet. Our Guest Promoter for BJC July is John Close a young musician, composer and promoter who has been curating jazz programmes for the talked-about 'Coaltrain' venue located at the Coffee Shop & Gallery on Barry Railway Station along with owner Al. On a visit there (all word of mouth from jazz followers), we heard the Mingus Project and immediately booked them for the Festival last year! John himself appeared in last year's festival, guesting on guitar with visiting US musician Stephen Kirby, also as part of Zach Breskel's Trio. He performs with the Siglo big band. Having appeared at Brecon Jazz himself, we invited John to curate our July (pre Festival) Jazz Club programme! Expect exciting, straightahead jazz from some of the best rising players anywhere. The Breaks - plus support at The Muse
We are thrilled to be welcoming The Breaks (aka We are The Breaks) a 10 piece band playing powerful, jazz infused hip hop and funk with an aggressive energy and vibes, all for positive change in society. They Call it 'anarcho-soul'. The Breaks are into Transition, Community, growing local and the abolition of oppression. Their call is to stand firm, unite and dance. Come along and immerse in their music and mission! Hailing from within ten miles of one another in the Wild West of Hereford HR2 they have been kicking out jams and making audiences jump and sing along with gusto! influences include Miles Davies, Sonny Rollins, Wu Tang, Sun Ra, Herbie Hancock, Ganja Krew, Minor Threat and Azalea Banks.
