Chartwell Highlights Tour: 'This is your victory' VE Day

As we mark 80 years since Victory in Europe Day, discover Churchill’s defining role as Britain’s wartime leader through the words and gifts that marked this momentous moment. Running Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays), our highlights tour takes you around the house at Chartwell with one of our knowledgeable volunteer guides. Please note that as this is a selected highlights tour, it doesn't include access to all rooms of the house open to the public on a standard visit. Those wanting to see the whole house will need to obtain a timed ticket to visit the house on a self-guided basis. If you wish to also visit the gardens and estate, please feel free to arrive earlier than the time listed which is for the tour only. Normal admission into the gardens will still apply. Pre-booking is required
VE Day 80. Children's Trail at Chartwell - National Trust
Enjoy an interactive walk round the garden at Chartwell as part of our VE Day 80 celebration. Discover more about Chartwell's wartime characters and celebrations in this family trail round the grounds. Please pick up a trail sheet at our Visitor Centre Please note there are steep steps, uneven paths, and grassed areas throughout the garden.
VE day 80. The Adam Jones Quintet at Chartwell - National Trust
8 May 2025 marks 80 years since the victory for Europe in 1945. VE Day was a moment of collective celebration across the UK, as people of all ages and backgrounds celebrated together. The Adam Jones Quintet will be performing under the Marlborough Pavilion. Enjoy the sound of the 1940s with a classic medley of joyful and celebratory tunes. This event is free. Normal admission charges for Chartwell or National Trust membership applies.
VE Day 80. Dance and Music at Chartwell - National Trust
Join the VE Day celebrations at Chartwell this May as we mark 80 years since the momentous day with historical interpretation, music, and events. Saturday 10 May. What's On: Dance Performances Surrey Jive will be performing on the lawn outside the front of the house bringing some 1940s style dancing from 12pm-2.30pm Live Band The Medway Concert Brass Band will be performing under the Marlborough Pavilion 2:30pm - 4:30pm. Enjoy the sound of the 1940s with a classic medley of joyful and celebratory tunes. Sunday 11 May. What's On: Dance Performances Swing Thing will be performing on the lawn outside the front of the house bringing some 1940s style dancing from 11am-12pm and 12.30pm-1.30pm Live Band The Biggin Hill Concert Band will be performing under the Marlborough Pavilion 2pm-4pm. Enjoy the sound of the 1940s with a classic medley of joyful and celebratory tunes. This event is free. Normal admission charges for Chartwell or National Trust membership applies.
