91 Fridays: Maïcee & Coupdekat (live Bands)
Every Friday, Ninety One kicks off the weekend with a handpicked lineup of live music and DJs, paired with delicious food and drinks to set the perfect vibe and ensure you have an unforgettable eve. On Friday 16th of May, we're excited to welcome Maïcee and Coupdekat to the stage. About Maïcee Breaking barriers is not for everyone. And yet, for three years now, French singer and rapper Maïcee has been doing just that, without ever pigeonholing herself into any particular box, and asserting her unique musical trajectory. From Paris, this singer and rapper from Montpellier has taken the time to broaden her musical spectrum as much as possible to become the artist she is today. The story begins with her parents' English and American rock on the road on vacations and at home. It continued with the electronic and drum'n'bass scene at parties in Montpellier, notably with Ed Banger Records and Gesaffelstein. It continues with the discovery of old-school American rap with 2Pac, Mobb Deep and Lauryn Hill, then British grime with Dizzee Rascal and Skepta. The result today is an almost self-evident musical identity: that of a hybrid artist, equally at ease rapping in impeccable English and mixing genres, in the tradition of artists such as Charli XCX, Shygirl, Mura Masa, FKA Twigs and Rosalía. By continuing to make her own music, Maïcee finally shows on Been High Lately... the direction she wishes to take in the future. A quest for singularity, to find her own sound, between rapped verses, club influences, fun choruses and letting go. Five tracks show the singer in her best light and mood. Before - perhaps - discovering a darker side in a few months' time. It all depends on the mood... About Coupdekat Coupdekat is a multi-disciplinary artist who seamlessly blends music, fashion, and visual art to craft immersive experiences. With three EPs to her name, her sound draws inspiration from artists like Frou Frou, Lily Allen, and The Chemical Brothers. Her work has earned recognition from Spotify, DORK, Dazed, and NME, among others. She is the co-founder of LOUD LDN and Club Gunk. Presented by Ninety One Living Room. This is an 18+ event (Photo ID Required).

With over 20 million plays on Spotify, he has earned the title of a "producer's producer." Notable DJs, including Mary-Ann Hobbs, Moxie, Ok Williams, Touching Bass, and Cinthie, among others, have recognized and respected his talent. about deft Over his years of releasing music, Yip Wong AKA Deft has become an immediately recognisable producer that skilfully hops from headphone to dance styles through cinematic sound design, crisp intricate percussion and immersive atmospheres. Having come from Croydon, with his beginnings in music as a drummer, Deft has managed to escape the stigma of his home town's heritage and establish his own signature sonic personality, drawing influence from Hip Hop, House, 140, Jungle and Footwork. However, with this in mind, he is able to display these influences through technique and style, making him impressively adept at shaking off the constraints of genre and tempo. This identity has gained him the support of Gilles Peterson, B.Traits, Mark Pritchard, Addison Groove, DJ Shadow, Daedelus, Om Unit and Rockwell amongst many others. about tanhai collective 6-piece London jazz band Tanhai Collective draw inspiration from Jazz, Broken Beat, House and Dub to create their signature high energy sound.
