It’s sound lends itself especially well to flamenco and middle-eastern music, influences which Meier brilliantly fuses in his unique multi-lingual style. He also plays fretless acoustic guitar, the Saz (a traditional Turkish stringed instrument), electric guitar, steel-string acoustic guitar, glissentar (an 11-stringed fretless insturment) and a baglama. Jon Doran & the Northern Assembly

27 May 2026 - 31 May 2026

Jon Doran & The Northern Assembly are a ground breaking new collaboration who seek to capture the excitement that lies within traditional song. The trio aims to breathe new life into old stories from across the British Isles, injecting the energy they feel these narratives deserve. With striking vocals from Jon Doran (BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award Finalist 2019), combined with the virtuosic playing of Jordan Aikin (trailblazer - Calum MacCrimmon, Breabach), and Heather Ferrier (accordion virtuoso Tom Robinson), the trio perform songs that create a cohesive musical framework with intricately layered arrangements, each song from the traditional folk canon unfolding a vivid drama (Folk London). Their eponymous debut EP, released in 2024, gained an overwhelming amount of positive feedback and secured airplay on BBC Radio 2, BBC Introducing North East, and BBC Radio Lincolnshire. Filled to the brim with energy, excitement and a lust for life (TradFolk), the trio move away from a conventional folk song performance style and lean heavily upon their varied musical upbringings and experiences to conjure emotions and communicate a story far deeper than the words of the song. They blur the lines between two contrasting sides of the folk genre - the bright, vibrant energy of contemporary instrumental folk music, and the intensity of traditional storytelling songs. KLOF describe their songs as overflowing with ideas for the production of imaginative, entertaining music.

Life can’t just be the humdrum, the mundane and the routine before the inevitable slide to disease, decay and death. Why can’t we sneak in a bit of awesome, a tad of amazing and maybe a smidge of wonderful? A forest canopy opening onto a huge vista would be enchanting for some but my ancestors wandered in the desert for forty years, I think we’ve been outdoors enough. Others get their fix from the spiritual but I’ve been harbouring a grudge against God since my mother stopped me going to Arsenal after my Barmitzvah. Forty nine years ago. ’God will be watching’ she said. Well, at least he got to see the game. The point is, life could be so much better so I’m on the lookout. Come and join me on the hunt.

Simon Evans: Simon Evans is Staring at the Sun
BBC Radio 4 stalwart and veteran of a quarter century of highly acclaimed stand-up comedy Simon Evans has announced a huge UK tour of his new stand up show Staring at the Sun with over 50 dates from January - June 2026. Staring at the Sun sees Simon Evans (Live at the Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Simon Evans Goes to Market, One Person Found This Helpful) squinting at an uncertain future, revisiting the blue remembered hills of his youth and trying to stay human as the world around him gets smarter. With the AI singularity looming and “reality” feeling increasingly unstable, Evans looks ahead to the coming shockwaves of technology, and back to the analogue pleasures of hitch-hiking, pub bets, and getting properly lost. Turning his famously dry, surgically precise style on the big modern questions: Are we living in a computer simulation? What happens when your body starts issuing software updates you didn’t request? And is staring straight at a solar eclipse, against expert advice, actually an act of courageous self-sacrifice on the road to true enlightenment? Part philosophical exploration, part nostalgic joyride, Staring at the Sun is a hilarious analysis of reality and trust from a man desperately trying to keep his balance while the floor keeps moving. The tone is unmistakably Evans: provocative, literate, and playfully combative, but also soaked in self-awareness. Evans draws on theories propounded by philosophers and mystics since the days of Plato and Ecclesiastes, casting himself as a public intellectual but constantly undercutting his points with brutally funny domestic truths. Simon Evans is one of the UK’s most respected and best loved comedians who has been at the top of his game for over twenty-five years. His TV credits include two appearances on BBC One’s Live at the Apollo, one on Michael McIntyre’s Roadshow, and a season of Channel 4’s Stand Up for the Week. On BBC Radio 4 his series Simon Evans Goes to Market, delighting audiences with his witty and insightful take on the comedically-unpromising territory of economics, has had six seasons. He is also a regular on Radio 4’s The News Quiz, and various other panel games, and from 1998 to 2002 wrote and hosted eight series of the news satire, The Way It Is. He also stars in One Person Found This Helpful – a Radio 4 show he co-devised with Jason Hazely and Pozzitive Productions, that has fun with on-line customer reviews and hosted Headliners – a regular preview of the following day’s newspapers with two other comedians on GB News. Evans is also in demand as a columnist and has written extensively for The Spectator, The Telegraph and Spiked.

John Horler Trio - Celebrating Bill Evans
John Horler's Trio's Celebrating Bill Evans is a rare opportunity to experience one of Britain's top jazz pianists playing the music he loves; music with enduring, timeless appeal. John is a British jazz legend. He has played with everyone from Chet Baker to Dame Cleo Laine; Sir John Dankworth to Maynard Ferguson - the who’s who of British jazz stars. This special show celebrates the music, legacy and genius of Bill Evans - and the direct impact Bill had on John’s illustrious musical life. John was a 17-year-old student at The Royal Academy of Music when he first saw Bill play live in London. It was a genuinely life-changing moment. He was so overcome - so inspired - that he fainted; carried out of the venue on his brother's shoulders. From that moment on, John devoted his life to fulfilling his ambition of becoming a jazz musician. To say he achieved this is an understatement; John went on to become one of our most cherished jazz artists. This is just one of John's many stories; tales he ebulliently shares in between tunes; paying homage to Bill Evans and his pioneering explorations in modern jazz. Join us for an evening of wonderful musicianship and interplay - performed by a pianist who is one of the leading interpreters and proponents of Bill Evans’ music. John is joined by two musicians - Tim Wells on bass, and Ronnie Jones on drums - who love and admire the repertoire just as much as John does himself. As the saying goes: Everybody digs Bill Evans. The trio have played three sold headline shows at Ronnie Scott's (two with Alec Dankworth on bass) and have also appeared at East Side Jazz Club, Reading Jaz, and Norden Farm twice; as well as gigs at Watermill Jazz - and two successful West Country tours. - John Horler - piano - Tim Wells - bass - Ronnie Jones - drums

The Ocelots

The Ocelots

10 May 2026 - 29 May 2026

The Ocelots is a project created by twins Ashley & Brandon Watson. Originally based in Wexford, Ireland, they now reside in Leipzig, Germany. The Ocelots were formerly a school band, playing blues standards and alternative rock during lunchtime. In this space, Brandon & Ashley started writing their own music, pursuing the direction of Bob Dylan and Simon & Garfunkel's folk sensibilities. They finished school and backpacked around Europe, playing shows and street-performing wherever they could. They released their first EP in 2017 Till We Get There which hit 1.7 million online streams. In the next three years, backpacking became extensive touring, headlining shows and festivals all over Europe and Australia. They joined stages with artists such as Jack Johnson, Glen Hansard, Hudson Taylor and Kim Churchill, amongst many others. The Ocelots have built a reputation for dynamic, intimate concerts, filled with humour and storytelling. Their debut album Started to Wonder was released in March 2020, containing songs rich in twin harmony and alternative folk, carved from touring delirium and over exposure of paperback fiction. In 2022, The Ocelots continue their international shows, including a twenty-date UK & Ireland tour. They will be appearing at the Cambridge Folk Festival and the International Folk Alliance festival in Canada. Their new EP 'Addlepated' is scheduled to be released in August 2022. The Ocelots claim inspiration in their music from Paul Simon, Midlake, Cormac McCarthy, Fionn Regan, The La's, Kings of Convenience and The Shins. "Delicious harmonies and stunning storytelling (NARC).
