The List

O2 Institute

The Institute has come a long way since it was opened in 1908 as Digbeth Institute, a Methodist congregational chapel. Since then it's served as a variety hall, civic building and film studio, but since the 70s it's been a music venue, hosting performances from Pink Floyd, Joni Mitchell, the Arctic Monkeys and the Cure. A £4m refurbishment in 2010 has given it three performance areas, the Institute itself (1500 seats), the Library (600) and the Temple (300). Birmingham New Street and the Bullring are a few minutes' walk away, and the venue is virtually opposite Birmingham's new Coach Station, with buses to most areas of the country.

The K's

The K's

3 Jul 2026 - 8 Aug 2026

The K’s: Jamie Boyle (vocals/guitar); Ryan Breslin (guitar); Dexter Baker (bass); Jordan Holden (drums). These four young men are a word-of-mouth phenomenon that’s rapidly becoming too huge to ignore. On the surface, the appeal of The K’s seems simple: embodying the relatable frustrations of everyday Britain and its zero hours economy, yearning for a better life in escapist anthems like epic next single Landmines and breakthrough tune Glass Towns. But if creating timeless thrills really was so simple, other bands would rack up so many streams and routinely sell out tours, thanks to the frenzied fan community the band has nurtured. Their gigs are a guaranteed riot, but that shouldn’t overlook the sophistication that gives The K’s the immediately identifiable blueprint all special bands soon develop. Debut single Sarajevo is one of the few rock & roll songs to namecheck Austro-Hungary, notching up over 1.5 million streams in the process.
Cast

Cast

8 Dec 2025 - 12 Jun 2026

Originally formed in 1992 from the ashes of The La’s and Shack, Cast released four albums and had ten top 10 singles before disbanding in 2001. As one of the most traditional guitar bands to emerge during the Brit-pop era of the mid-'90s, Cast have carved out a sound that was heavily indebted to the British Invasion of the early '60s, yet it was infused with a mystical, pseudo-hippie lyrical sensibility, which lead singer John Power expanded upon in all of his interviews. What really made Cast into a success was Power's gift for simple, classic pop hooks, as demonstrated on the hit singles "Fine Time," "Alright," and "Walkaway." Cast became a very, very popular band within Britain following the success of Oasis and Blur. Labelled ‘The Who of the 90’s’, Noel Gallagher once described watching Cast play live as “a religious experience.”

Cam

Cam

17 Feb 2026 - 25 Feb 2026

Cam. The simple, three-letter name is bold. And that rings true to the art, and the heart, of one of country’s shining new acts. That boldness is evident in nearly every step she takes. Cam makes it a habit to wear eye-catching yellow every time she goes out in public. The strings and acoustic guitar in her breakout #1 Platinum-certified smash, the Grammy and ACM Awards nominated Burning House, are stirringly fragile, a brave counterpoint to the party atmosphere of modern country. And she sings with a dynamic clarity that’s both distinctive and friendly. Cam backs up that boldness with a firm delivery, embedding her material with a ringing conviction throughout the 11 songs on her Arista Nashville/RCA Records full-length debut, Untamed. Released December 11, 2015, her new album burst onto Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart at #2 and earned 2015’s best first-week album sales by a debut country artist. Whether she’s singing about fresh love, broken hearts or difficult personal crossroads, she’s clearly living the experience for the three or four minutes she’s in it. Actually, she’s re-living the experience, because the emotions in every one of her songs come unapologetically from her singular interaction with the world. “There’s a lot of work involved in being an artist, and I’m so happy to do it,” she says. “But if I’m going to invest my time in the work part of it, the music just has to be me.” Adventure and uniqueness were practically built in to Cam from the outset. Camaron Marvel Ochs was born in the waterfront Southern California town of Huntington Beach, she spent big chunks of her youth at her grandparents’ horse ranch in Oceanside, where the tractor was red and the barn was blue. Her grandfather was both a cowboy and an entrepreneur – he started his own business, building wooden office desks – and her parents were similarly non-conformist. Her father grew up in a military family and had the guts to move out on his own at age 17, a time when most kids are looking to Dad for a few extra bucks to put gas in the car and see a movie. Her mother had an executive position in construction management at a time when those jobs were reserved almost exclusively for men. In turn, their independent, self-reliant streak was instilled in Cam, particularly after the family relocated to northern California. While living in Los Angeles, Cam met a kindred spirit in up-and-coming songwriter/producer Tyler Johnson (Taylor Swift, P!nk). A songwriting partnership was begun, with promising early results – they co-wrote a song on Miley Cyrus’ album Bangerz, and Cam also landed a song on a project by indie country act Maggie Rose. Cam and Johnson meticulously wrote and rewrote the material for weeks and months at a time under the watchful eye of GRAMMY®-winning producer and songwriter Jeff Bhasker (Fun., Mark Ronson), who helped bring her to the industry’s attention in New York, even while she made organic inroads in Music City. In a bit of a fluke, Cam’s music was discovered online by Nashville radio programmer Michael Bryan, who started playing one of her songs, Down This Road, on WSIX even though she was unsigned. While the attention was a boon, wheels were already in motion behind the scenes with label meetings in Nashville when Bhasker got Cam a meeting in New York with RCA Records Chairman & CEO Peter Edge and President & COO Tom Corson. Blown away by her incredible voice and irresistible personality and charm, Edge immediately called Sony Music’s CEO, Doug Morris, who likewise fell for her undeniable talent when she auditioned for him. In a rare situation, she’s now signed to both the country (Arista Nashville) and pop (RCA Records) labels – she sees herself as a country act, but if her music breaks out of the genre or finds an audience overseas, the pop division is waiting in the wings.

Ashnikko

Ashnikko

11 Feb 2026 - 20 Feb 2026

Pop disruptor Ashnikko is bringing her genre-bending, hyper-stylized electronic music and larger-than-life persona. Ashnikko’s songs are like portals. You’re instantly transported to a hyper, horny, whimsical universe where emotions are dramatised, gender stereotypes are disrupted, and revenge reigns supreme. From the demonic brat rap of early singles like Halloweenie and STUPID (ft. Yung Baby Tate) to the lurid alt-pop of viral hits Daisy and Slumber Party (ft. Princess Nokia), an ever-evolving sound is anchored by a cheeky humour and subversive personality that couldn’t belong to anyone else. While her 2021 mixtape DEMIDEVIL showcased a more head-on approach, directly tackling themes of sexual revolution and revenge, her debut album WEEDKILLER is more allegorical, steering towards liberation and persevering through the dark to reach the inevitable light. Price includes a £1.95 venue restoration levy. This is a 14+ event. (under 16s accompanied by an adult over the age of 21) .

There’s a lot of artists working right now in the shredded space between rap and noise, but their take is a little different.” There aren’t many bands that blur the lines between punk and grime as effectively as London duo Bob Vylan. Outspoken and engrossing in equal measures, their lyrics convey the angst and discrimination at the hand of a corrupt system while sonically it’s like “being pelted by a downpour of razor sharp arrows”. NME2019 saw Bobby(vocals and production) and Bobb13(drums and spiritual guidance) generate significant hype with guest appearances on Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes Radio 1 session for Annie Mac, supporting Gallows at their triumphant comeback show at House of Vans and collaborating with Massive Attack alumni Tricky on his new album.

Jutes

Jutes

2 May 2026 - 6 May 2026

As a 90s baby, Jutes’ is constantly referencing and pulling inspiration from the alternative rock bands he grew up on like Nirvana, Deftones, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins & more. Never being able to put Jutes in a box has been a recurring theme from the beginning. It all started with Hip Hop and R&B while living in Toronto. Then after packing his bags and moving to LA to couch surf, Jutes signed to Capitol Records and started making Trap infused Pop Punk. After a couple years Jutes went back to being independent and released a Grunge Rock album titled “Ladybug.” The newest chapter in his story has taken on a dark and cinematic tone. Cross breeding the heaviness of nu metal/metal with an atmospheric hip hop infused indie feel. Jutes' most recent album Sleepyhead helped catapult him in the genre, lead by the title track that found itself exploding on both streaming and alternative radio. Sleepyhead was Jutes’ first ever song to chart on both Billboard and Mediabase (#23). After countless viral clips from a handful of live shows Jutes played at the end of the year the Sleepyhead album has now surpassed 100M global streams on Spotify alone while Dilworth has racked up over 50M streams on Spotify before the release date of the full album. His next album Dilworth comes out 12/3, which is also the final date of the last leg of his sold out Sleepyhead tour. In 2026, Jutes plans to make his European headline debut along with a number of North American festival dates. Presented by Live Nation 14+ (U16 must be accompanied by an adult)

Aries

Aries

10 Apr 2026 - 14 Apr 2026

An artist who has always been closely guarded, Aries’ latest release GLASS JAW is his most personal work to date. Aries has always moved on the margins and lived as an outsider. After earning notoriety in the creatively fertile YouTube boom, deconstructing the music of Drake and Lil Uzi Vert with near-surgical understanding of production, Aries had been nurturing a vision as an artist in his own right which led him to belong to a musical movement which completely redefined alternative music through online community. The tension between confidence and fragility defines the central thesis of GLASS JAW. Sonically, the album sees Aries take bolder swings away from the trap rhythms that once defined him without compromising on his knack for anthemic choruses. His fluency in experimental hip-hop has never been stronger - and he turns it all on a dime with his honeyed, unmistakable voice which rides the knife edge between pop and something altogether darker. Presented by SJM This is a 14+ (14-16s with an adult) event - physical photo ID required
