Tyla's Dogs D'amour

Tyla's Dogs D'amour

15 Nov 2025 - 16 Nov 2025

Tyla J. Pallas is an English musician, artist and poet. He first made a name for himself in the late 80’s with rock n’ roll band The Dogs D’Amour. He has since released a prolific succession of albums and toured the world over as a solo artist. As well as being an accomplished songwriter, Tyla is equally well known for his distinct painting style that has adorned his album covers from the beginning As out of control as rock n’ roll was in the late 80’s, few artists could top the levels of debauchery and excess achieved by England’s own Dogs D’Amour. Led by singer, guitarist, songwriter and poet Tyla J. Pallas, the group’s albums became cult favourites in their homeland and beyond. Originally formed by Tyla in London in 1983, he has been joined by various line-ups over the years. The Dogs are regarded as one of the best underground rock bands of their time with their bluesy, heartfelt, sing-along anthems and ramshackle style. Since then, frontman Tyla J. Pallas has continued to record many albums and tour, keeping the Dogs legacy alive. As well as being an accomplished songwriter, he is a published author and equally well known for his distinct artwork. Still alive and kicking. Still incendiary. Still stirring up conflict with his art, music, live performances and writing. A 21st century poet. A modern day troubadour. A travelling man whose home is where his he(art) is.

The Risk

21 Nov 2025 - 21 Nov 2025

Powerpop mod outfit The Risk are celebrating 40 years together with a UK tour in November. Formed in Guernsey in the mid-1980s by Mark Le Gallez and Colin Leach, The Risk were a prominent band within the second mod revival of the mid-80s, releasing three studio albums on Londons Unicorn Records within two years and a compilation album of rarities in 1989. The band toured the UK, Ireland, Europe and the west coast of California and gained a strong reputation for their powerful live performances and in 1988 were voted best live band in a readers poll in Modzine In the Crowd, as well as best album for their second LP, Invitation to the Blues, which also received positive reviews, with Music Week calling it a 'much raved-about classic' and saw interest from EMI. Follow-up album Bitter Sweet was touted as a 'genuinely magnificent record' by The Catalogue, and Melody Maker rated Mark and Colin as a 'Difford and Tilbrook for the 80s'. A best of compilation called Dancing with a Stranger was released in 1994 through Dojo Ltd, in association with Unicorn Records, and in 2002, Mark and Colin returned to the studio to record the 10-track LP CD Songs From The Big Tomato. In 2011, The Risk were locked in a battle with ITVs X-Factor over the use of their name by a manufactured boy band, but were successful in securing the trademark for the name. Mark relocated to Salford in 2021, and Colin to the Kintyre Peninsula in 2022. In October last year, The Risk travelled to Arran and recorded some tracks for a potential album at Isle of Arran Recording Studios, 22 years after their last, Songs From the Big Tomato. The recording resulted in the double A-side vinyl single Once Upon a Time/Kevin shows the band in fine form. In August, The Risk played at the Channel Islands' longest-running music festival, The Vale Earth Fair, sharing the main stage with The Lovely Eggs, Big Special and Dub Pistols.
