Chris Wood

Chris Wood

21 Sept 2025 - 28 Mar 2026

Chris Wood is an uncompromising writer whose music reveals his love for the unofficial history of the English speaking people. With gentle intelligence he weaves the tradition with his own contemporary parables. A self-taught musician, composer and song writer, Chris is a lifelong autodidact whose independent streak shines through everything he does. Always direct and unafraid to speak his mind, his song writing has been praised for its surgical clarity. He cites his major influence as Anon. On stage Chris has the air of a craftsman who no longer needs to be precious about his art. Without any apparent effort he reaches deep into an enviable repertoire of songs before revealing another gem.
Tom Waits for No Man + Support

Tom Waits for No Man + Support

19 Sept 2025 - 20 Sept 2025

Tom Waits for No Man is a set of sensitive and compelling reimagining's of the music of Tom Waits. Vocalist and composer Lindsay Hannon (A voice soulful, brooding & unselfconscious in its longing - Jazz Journal) has chosen and re-arranged a selection of songs from the legendary Tom Waits decades spanning back catalogue. From the tender nostalgia of 'Martha', the gospel infused 'Picture in a frame' and the variously, dark, comedic and lewd content of such numbers as 'Pasties and a G-string, 'Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis; this may be an opportunity to reacquaint yourself with this stellar artist, or perhaps discover for the first time, a few of the reasons that maintain his reputation as songwriter of international acclaim. What Three Words: Otway & Barrett

What Three Words: Otway & Barrett

25 Sept 2025 - 16 Nov 2025

This magnetic bond still holds after more than 50 years of attempted escapes. Still loved for their total in-yer-face originality, the contrast between the deadpan humour of Barrett and mad onstage antics of Otway are hilarious to watch. John's lyrical genius and Willy's outstanding musicianship (he seems to play almost every stringed instrument known to man, plus a few hybrids of his own making!). Willy's interest in making instruments began when he commandeered two guitars made by his dad in 1965. One from an old guitar neck and a scaffold plank which became affectionately known as the Les Dawson, and the other branded the Mk1 Schitstik electric slide of similar pedigree. These instruments were used on many of the early tracks, including Really Free and Racing Cars. Willy's remark this will be the last time that many of you will see us together again was often hastily misinterpreted as the final throw of the dice, but the reason given: it's not us packing up, it's you lot dying off, you know who you are! is often overlooked by eager scribes. And so the rumours abound. Last year, John celebrated his 5,000th gig to a packed house at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire. And if that's not enough, we are now talking about DOCTOR JOHN an Honorary PhD in Music by Oxford Brookes University. Im really thrilled to be awarded this totally unexpected honour, especially as I failed all my A levels as I decided to concentrate on preparing for my burgeoning career as a rock star. To get this from Oxford Brookes 50 years later shows I did the right thing. For any Otway/Barrett virgins out there who dont know what to expect, be prepared for everything from bare-chested theremin playing to wah wah wheelie bin as the duo jump from one hit and 40 near misses to another: An amazing and irreverent performance by two master entertainers
Blair Dunlop

Blair Dunlop

14 Nov 2025 - 14 Nov 2025

Blair Dunlop begins the campaign for his 5th studio album announcing 25 UK tour dates in April and May 2024. Let's Get Out of the Rain will be Blair's first Studio album since 2018 (Notes from and Island). Where Notes was an introspective analysis of Brexit Britain, the new collection is a celebration of spring, newness and freedom. Songs of metamorphosis and wide screen road trips prevail. Blair has been hailed as one of the UK's most accomplished songwriters since he burst into the folk scene with his debut Blight & Blossom (2012). BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards followed along with critical acclaim. In 2016 Blair released on his own label (Gilded Wings) and received wider acclaim and BBC Radio 2 playlisting for singled The Egoist and 356. Appearances at Glastonbury and the major Folk Festivals followed, along with breakthrough tours of Australia; and Blair is now firmly established as a household name amongst respected British songwriters. On the new collection of songs and the album Blair says: It's been 5 years since my last record, comfortably my longest gap between releases, so it feels really good to be able to put this out in the world. Jim Moray is producing, and that's very exciting as he's someone I've admired for many years. He was one of the reasons I first got into traditional music in my teens. Since then, my personal style has evolved, but there are aspects of traditional storytelling that seep into my original works. I would say that Midday Mass is a reflection of that. It's a song about a café back in my hometown of Chesterfield, but I guess that it's a vehicle for a social commentary as much as anything else. Overall, I would say the sound of the record is more positive than my previous work. That's due, in part, to the world opening up post-pandemic, and is ultimately born from a will to connect with people and get out into the world again. The industry hasnt fully recovered yet, but it is a blessing to be able to tour in any capacity again. Freedom is a theme that runs throughout (unintentionally), and I reckon that's reflected musically as well as lyrically. I've reached a point in my career where I just want to make the music I want to make, and give less consideration to where it may sit in terms of stylings and genre. That's an empowering place to be and it opens up a world of sonic possibilities.
Withered Hand

Withered Hand

21 Aug 2025 - 24 Oct 2025

Withered Hand is the nom de plume of Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Dan Willson, who started writing songs almost ten years ago during a period of reflection following the birth of his first child and the death of a close friend. With a wayward tenor and unaffected charm onstage he has come to be celebrated in his adopted country and further afield as a songwriter and lyricist of rare wit and remarkable honesty. Alongside activity with his band, Dan is also a well-travelled solo musician with a cult following. 2014 saw the release of his strident second album New Gods, which propelled Withered Hand into the charts, featuring appearances by friends, luminaries and supporters from the Scottish music scene, from Belle & Sebastian to Frightened Rabbit to The Vaselines and beyond.

His pure voice, evocative lyrics and soaring melodies have cemented him as a respected figure in the alt-folk scene as an artist & collaborator. Inspired by the British and American folk revivalists of the 60's, a sixteen-year-old Brookes began to write and perform while training as a gilder in his late father's workshop. Brookes had begun to receive serious critical recognition when he self-released album, Kairos, being acclaimed by The Independent as one of the stand-out records of 2014 and tipped for the mercury nomination. All tied together with Funke's endless reserves of energy. The tour starts in Funke's new hometown of Durham and takes in the world music event of MusicPort Festival, Whitby and York's punk all-dayer One For the Road, as well as some of Funke's favourite independent venues. Scott Lavene

Scott Lavene

25 Sept 2025 - 27 Jan 2026

In support of his upcoming single, My Kinda Girl, Scott Lavene has announced an 11 date UK tour throughout September. My Kinda Girl is the third in a series of singles put out this year that will pave the way for his forthcoming debut album in 2019. Born in Essex, Scott Lavene was raised on power ballads, punk and swearing. In bands since his teens, Scott travelled about, scratching out a living with deadbeat jobs trying to find something to cling to. After couple of years in France and a brief stint in New York, including a playing at the infamous CBGB's Scott returned to London and came close to a major label deal with his sordid songs. Instead Scott disappeared on a rusty old boat, a floating shed, for five years. Hiding from the world. Broke and bemused. Solitude and lonely debauchery. After five years of this Scott went kaput, so spent some time in a house for the bewildered where he emerged full of life and songs. A self released album in a band called Big Top Heartbreak led to being signed to Funnel Music as a solo artist. The first single, 'It's All Gonna Blow' has been played by Steve Lamacq on his BBC 6Music show and Scott had a residency at the Brighton Fringe as well as a sell out show at Crofters Rights in Bristol for the 7inch vinyl release show.

Her beguiling self-titled debut album featuring ghostly folk ballad The Waltz of Winter Hey and pained Americana Lefty's Motel Room has already captured the attention of the likes of Uncut, Clash, Shindig, BBC Radio 6 and Radio X and as the record takes listeners deeper into her bittersweet world, it's only a matter of time before countless others will fall under her spell. Containing tales of love, loss, hope, relationships and womanhood, the album is both an exorcism of torment and an invitation to feeling only what is good. Tugging at the cloaks of contemporary folk souls Jake Xerxes Fussell or Richard Dawson, it offers a contemporary twist on the Anglo folk tradition through a bloody cocktail of classic rock origins and transcends time as it nods to the lyrical narratives of Led Zeppelin, Fairport Convention and Townes Van Zandt - all the while infused with inspiration from her collection of gothic literature and historical texts. The self-reflection in the title demonstrates a life lived, Toria tells. The songs are chapters to dip in and out of, moments immortalised in time, bound together by nothing more than the human experience. Recorded with partner in rhyme and intuition, producer, mix engineer and guitarist James Wyatt in his Sloe Flower studio, the album honours songwriting's roots with an authenticity captured by its delicate restraint. Only allowing pedal steel and wurlitzer to fill out the intimate space at just the right moment, opener The Plough introduces Toria's affecting tone and guitar with intoxicating simplicity before a sonic expansion which explores the physical and metaphysical truth of womanhood. Grief comes to the fore in Song For A which assuredly acknowledges helplessness in the face of an inevitably bad situation and is then healed by the love and commitment which eeks through the cracks on reassuringly uplifting live favourites That's What Falling In Love Will Do and See Things Through. Toria's story-first approach closely reflects the emotions of moments in time, and theyre never written down, only manifest as a result of her inspired process. A painter, poet, songwriter and storyteller, music is just one facet of Toria Wooff's wildly creative imagination which metamorphoses in many forms. Steeped in gothic romanticism, pagan and Germanic tradition, Toria's unique view of the world is enchanting through an alchemy of sound and vision; a magical blend of her own spellbinding folk-rock concoction. It's mostly about making mundane things in life beautiful, Toria says. There's a pragmatic reason behind all I do, and I always take the most aesthetically pleasing approach. I combine everyday language with prettier, longer, and poetic words so the surface might have one meaning but there will be many others the deeper you go. The most beautiful words are desperate, pinning and punch at the gut.
