Simon Evans: Have We Met?

Simon Evans: Have We Met?

7 May 2025 - 22 Mar 2026

Completing the Trilogy begun with Genius 2.0 and The Work of the Devil, Have We Met? finds Simon standing, like Ulysses in Tennyson’s famous verse, gazing out over the moaning deep and the twinkling rocks and wondering whether to seek a newer world? To smite the sounding furrows? To strive, to seek, and to find? Or whether in fact, to put the kettle on, crack open the Hobnobs and simply yield? Drawing on Joyce, Proust and the career of Philip Schofield to make sense of his own tangled past and possible future, Evans skilfully weaves comedy, pathos and narrowly averted cancellation into an unforgettable two hours of unique entertainment.

Alfie Moore: A Face for Radio

17 May 2025 - 11 Jul 2025

Somewhere in a parallel universe little Alfie’s natural comedic performance skills were recognised by his doting parents who encouraged and developed his blossoming talent. After several years as a stage school brat Alfie’s angelic face was launched on stage and screen and the rest is history. Meanwhile, in this universe Alfie Moore was told to stop messing about in class before being ‘encouraged’ into the grinding, grimy world of an apprenticeship in the Sheffield steelworks. When recession hit he traded steel for copper by joining Humberside Police. In his 40s the two universes collided when Alfie made a bid for showbiz success – but unfortunately 30 years of shift-work and being punched in the face quite a lot, had left him with ‘a face for radio’. A face not so much ‘lived in’ as inhabited by a settlement of squatters with little regard to property maintenance and repair. This is the true story of ‘Fair Cop’ Alfie’s big plan to transition from the BBC radio waves to TV star. Could it be done? Or had Father Time decided that his time had passed?

Andrew Cushin

Andrew Cushin

6 May 2025 - 3 Jun 2025

Andrew Cushin possesses a nuanced, multifaceted talent for songwriting. The words that he conjures are both immensely personal and reflective of modern social issues, but those serious themes are delivered through songs with huge, pints-in-the-air singalong appeal. It’s a talent that’s winning a growing army of admirers, most notably Noel Gallagher, who produced and performed on Andrew’s previous single ‘Where’s My Family Gone’. Andrew’s ongoing discovery continues today as he releases just his fourth single, ‘Memories’. It’s a song which finds the 21-year-old artist poignantly exploring the idea of what masculinity means in the present day. There’s undoubtedly a real bravery in putting such vulnerable emotions in full view of the world at large, but that heartfelt honesty has been the driving factor behind all of his releases to date.

The Young’uns’ live shows are renowned roller coaster rides. With heart-on-the-sleeve storytelling, beautiful lyrics, warm harmonies and relentless repartee, Sean Cooney, Michael Hughes and David Eagle (the award-winning stand-up comedian) write and sing folk songs for today. Born from empathy, crafted with care, fired by hope, and shared with joy, The Young'uns' songs have been described as ‘a heartfelt secular hymnary for these troubled times and a rallying call for humanity’ (The Scotsman). They have led the band to three BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards (including Best Album in 2018 for Strangers) and the creation of the acclaimed international theatre show The Ballad of Johnny Longstaff (based upon their 2019 album of the same name). Nearly 20 years after accidentally stumbling into the alien world of their local folk club as drunken teenagers, (and gaining their cureless name in the process) these three thirtysomething friends from Stockton and Hartlepool have never lost the joy of that first night of singing together. Whether performing in front of 5,000 people at Glastonbury Festival, writing a song about pigs with a group of school children, or presenting a programme on BBC Radio 4, Sean Cooney, Michael Hughes and David Eagle are just the same. 2022 sees The Young’uns launch their Tiny Notes project. Each date of their April tour will feature a live recording of audience choruses for their forthcoming album, with the band urging everyone to discover the joy of singing together that they found one night as teenagers in Stockton-on-Tees.

GA-20

GA-20

10 Jun 2025 - 15 Jun 2025

GA-20 clearly is on to something big. It’s a movement, a new traditional blues revival. The dynamic, throwback blues trio are disciples of the place where traditional blues, country and rock ‘n’ roll intersect. “We make records that we would want to listen to,” says guitarist Matt Stubbs. “It’s our take on the song-based traditional electric blues we love.” Stubbs, guitarist/vocalist Pat Faherty, and drummer Tim Carman have been at the forefront of this traditional blues revival since they first formed in 2018. It’s no wonder they skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard Blues Chart. According to Stubbs, “Since we started the band we’ve focused on the story, the melody, and on creating a mood. Playing live as much as we do, we’re finding more and more that people are discovering how cool it all is. Traditional country, soul and funk music have all had these massive recent revivals, but traditional blues so far has not.” With their new Colemine album, Crackdown, and an intensive tour schedule, that’s all about to change. On Crackdown, GA-20’s third full-length release, the band creates an unvarnished, ramshackle blues that is at once traditional and refreshingly modern. Expanding on their previous releases (2019’s Lonely Soul and 2021’s Try It…You Might Like It! GA-20 Does Hound Dog Taylor) GA-20 finds inspiration on the edges of the genre, where early electric blues first converged with country and rock ‘n’ roll. The album’s nine original songs include the loping, Louisiana-flavoured Dry Run, the dirty, and bare-bones Easy On The Eyes and the melodic, garage-tinged Fairweather Friend. With tight, propulsive performances and a brevity and punk energy reminiscent of The Ramones, Crackdown is rowdy and fun, filled with instantly memorable, and well-crafted songs.

Bob Mould Band

18 Nov 2025 - 20 Nov 2025

Legendary musician Bob Mould taps Jason Narducy to open the solo portion of his Distortion and Blue Hearts! tour starting October 15, 2021, in Bloomington, IL at Castle Theater. These solo dates are the second part of a tour that begins with his band Narducy on bass and drummer Jon Wurster on September 16 at Paradise Rock Club in Boston. The full run of dates and locations are below. Mould also marks the 10-year anniversary of his groundbreaking memoir See A Little Light: The Trail of Rage and Melody by sharing a video clip of him reading from the book and then performing solo Wishing Well from his 1989 landmark album Workbook. On top of that he shares a trailer for his fourth and final vinyl box Distortion: Live an 8 LP set that includes live recordings from Mould's solo career and his band Sugar. This set will be released on July 16, 2021, through Demon Music Group. Mould sees parallels between the memoir and the Distortion box sets: After three years of writing my 2011 autobiography, See A Little Light, I was full speed ahead no more looking back. But over the past few years, during the production of the Distortion reissue series, many of the people, places, and circumstances that fueled those albums came back to life. Oddly, I didnt see that coming! As for today: the book is ten years old, Im thrilled that 30 years of my work has been re-released in so many configurations, and Im very grateful to be able to take these songs and stories to the stage later this year and hopefully many years to come. As time marches on, Im learning to embrace my past, enjoy the moment, and still have hopes and dreams for the future. As on the previously released box sets in the Distortion collection, the fourth volume sees each album being mastered by Jeff Lipton and Maria Rice at Peerless Mastering in Boston and is presented with brand new artwork designed by illustrator Simon Marchner and pressed on 140g clear vinyl with unique splatter effects. This box set includes 4 live albums: Live At The Cabaret Metro, 1989; the Sugar album The Joke Is Always On Us, Sometimes; LiveDog98 (first time on vinyl), and Live at ATP 2008 (first time on vinyl). In addition, the set includes a 28-page companion booklet featuring liner notes by journalist Keith Cameron; contributions from Bully's Alicia Bognanno; rare photographs and memorabilia, and a bonus LP Distortion Plus: Live, which features live rarities including B-Sides and stand-out tracks from the Circle of Friends concert film. Opening the Solo Distortion part of the tour is Jason Narducy who has been the bass player in Bob Mould's band since 2005. The Evanston, IL-based musician first gained renown in 1982, when at 11 years old, he formed the seminal punk rock band Verböten with his childhood friends in an Evanston basement. Narducy would later go on to front Verbow, releasing three albums with the band (one in its earliest incarnation as Jason & Alison). Since his days in Verbow, Narducy has gone on to tour with such acts as Robert Pollard and Telekinesis. Today, along with playing bass for Mould he performs the same role in Superchunk, and fronts Split Single, with whom he's recorded three albums with a rotating cast of stellar musicians, including Jon Wurster, Spoon's Britt Daniel, R.E.M.'s Mike Mills, and Wilco's John Stirratt. Split Single's new album, Amplificado, is out June 25th.
Bill Callahan

Bill Callahan

2 Jul 2025 - 8 Jul 2025

Building on the lo-fi, sparse aesthetic of his early work as Smog toward the lush instrumentation and masterly command of structure (and beautiful production) evidenced on his latest records, Bill Callahan has released consistently excellent albums for two decades. He can safely be spoken of as one of America’s great songwriters. His songs have been covered by Gil Scott Heron, Cat Power and the Flaming Lips, and featured in films such as 'High Fidelity'. Emotive and beautifully arranged, 2009’s “Sometimes I wish we were an Eagle” is a great gateway to Bill. It’s fair to say that the snare sound here is exquisite! Before starting to release music under his own name in 2007, Bill Callahan recorded as Smog. Sample lyric: “My foolish heart had to go diving… diving, diving into the murk”… Support comes from Cath and Phil Tyler Cath & Phil Tyler play Anglo-American folk music using guitar, banjo, voice and fiddle. Cath was a member of the band Cordelia’s Dad in the 1990s when she lived in Massachusetts, USA. Phil, from Newcastle upon Tyne has played in various folk, rock and ceilidh bands for many years. Coming together musically through a shared love of traditional narrative song, full voiced sacred harp singing and sparse mountain banjo, they have performed on stages great and small, from the Royal Opera House in London to the Morden Tower in the old city walls of Newcastle.

She’s a master of the Scottish smallpipes - the bellows-blown, mellower and more emotive cousin to the famous Great Highland bagpipes - and she’s taken them to the global stage. A native Gaelic speaker from the Isle of Skye, Brìghde roots her music in her language and culture. She rose to prominence as a prodigy of traditional music, but has since begun a journey to take the smallpipes into uncharted territory.

Kris Barras Band

Kris Barras Band

16 Oct 2025 - 9 Nov 2025

Kris Barras Band’s Death Valley Paradise crashed into the Official UK Album Charts at #27 in March 2022 - their highest charting album yet. Hailing a new beginning, they are heavier and darker than ever. “Dead Horses,” “My Parade,” “Who Needs Enemies” and “Chaos” were all A-listed at Planet Rock Radio and spent multiple weeks as the most played songs on the station. Guitarist Magazine hailed Barras as “reminiscent of shredders like Zakk Wylde”, and Classic Rock applauded the “pummelling riffs and from-the-gut vocals show his hard-rock colours at their brightest.” The moment they announced the first single, “Dead Horses”, they changed gear and have not looked back. From a UK tour with Back Stone Cherry in 2021 – culminating with a show at the Royal Albert Hall, before they then supported The Darkness for two special nights at London’s Shepherd Bush Empire. They spent March 2022 taking on, venue-wise, their biggest UK headline tour, selling out shows along the way. They then took on the massive stage of London’s Wembley Arena in support of Thunder and sailed through a triumphant Download festival debut on the second stage this summer. The ex-MMA/Cage fighter Barras has played the London Palladium, mainstages at festivals such as Planet Rockstock, Ramblin’ Man Fair and countless sold-out UK headline tours whilst picking up awards, multiple BBC Radio 2 sessions, critical acclaim and a fervent fanbase along the way.
Evan Honer

Evan Honer

18 Aug 2025 - 21 Aug 2025

Evan Honer was still a college student in Southern California when his music - a mix of acoustic folk, indie-Americana, and alternative pop, delivered by a young songwriter who's never been afraid to blur the boundaries between genres - began earning a global audience. It happened fast. One minute, he was uploading performance videos to social media with little response. The next, he was a viral success, earning 50 million streams with his version of the Tyler Childers deep cut ‘Jersey Giant’ and building a following with his original music, too. With 2023's ‘West on I-10’, Honer introduced himself as a one-man act and ‘Fighting For’ finds him trying on new roles, too. He's a bandleader now. An electric guitarist. A road dog, backed by a lineup of instrumentalists and collaborators. A record label CEO, willing to extend help to the underdog. Maybe Evan Honer doesn't know what he's fighting for. Maybe he's saving that discovery for the next album. He's still fighting the good fight, though. And with ‘Fighting For’, it sounds like he's winning. Stage times are posted at 11am on the day of the show on our website. Presented by Live Nation. This is a 16+ event - you may be asked to prove your age and if you are not able to show valid ID, you may be refused entry. Valid ID includes passports, driving licences, over 16+ zip oyster photocard and citizen cards. Photocopies will not be accepted.

This is a brand-new Scots version of the play translated by Joseph Farrell, former lecturer at the University of Strathclyde, who has translated several of Dario Fo’s works. This is the play’s first Scottish production since 2003, and was famously performed by Robbie Coltrane with the theatre company Borderline over 30 years ago. You Won’t Break My Soul is a new Scottish comedy from JD Stewart (Daniel Getting Married, The Devil Drinks Cava) about the power of friendship, self-belief and Beyoncé. All tickets include a pie/vegan sausage roll and a drink (alcoholic or soft).
A Play, A Pie & A Pint - The Haunting Of Agnes Gilfrey
In the midst of a thunderstorm, Agnes and her partner James arrive at the remote and stately Olcis House for a romantic Highland getaway. With endless corridors and crumbling masonry, the house is not your average Airbnb and offers an extraordinary ‘authentic’ experience, with even its own dour housekeeper! But late at night, Agnes hears wailing and caterwauling from deep within the house. Fearful, but curious, she leaves the safety of the four-poster bed in search of answers… The Haunting of Agnes Gilfrey is a gothic comedy thriller by Amy Conway (Catafalque), that confronts our fear of ageing women and the spectres we manifest in the dark. All tickets include a pie/vegan sausage roll and a drink (alcoholic or soft).
A Play, A Pie & A Pint - The Inquisitor

First staged in 2007, The Inquisitor is an elemental theatrical conflict by the award-winning writer Peter Arnott (The Signalman), in celebration of his 40 years in Scottish theatre. All tickets include a pie/vegan sausage roll and a drink (alcoholic or soft).
Albert Lee & His Band

Albert Lee & His Band

20 Jul 2025 - 24 Oct 2025

Albert was born on December 21, 1943 in Herefordshire, England, before moving and growing up in Blackheath, London. He was first introduced to music with the piano, taking lessons aged seven, learning the classics and pop tunes before the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis inspired him to take up guitar. Albert was treated one Christmas to a Hofner President acoustic arch-top, and from there he never looked back. Spurred on by the recordings of Jimmy Bryant, Buddy Holly and The Crickets, Gene Vincent and The Everly Brothers, Albert left school at sixteen and turned pro, getting regular gigs at the 2 i's Coffee Bar and The Flamingo Club in London first with Bob Xavier's band, and then with The Jury. He replaced Jimmy Page in The Crusaders before joining Chris Farlowe and The Thunderbirds in '64. He soon found his favoured guitar of choice, the Fender Telecaster, whilst everyone else was playing Gibson Les Pauls and Stratocasters. Albert admitted to feeling like the odd man out as his appreciation for American country artists grew, and he formed the band Country Fever. He began working with Poet & The One Man Band, who later turned into Heads, Hands & Feet when Jerry Donahue and Pat Donaldson (of Country Fever) were replaced by Albert and Chas Hodges. Their self-titled debut album featured the original Country Boy, now synonymous with Albert's trademark picking style. The U.S eventually beckoned, and Albert began doing session work and briefly toured with The Crickets in 1973. He moved to Los Angeles, where he met his idols Phil and Don Everly, and Don invited Albert to play with him and pedal steel legend Buddy Emmons. After working on Don's second album, Albert left to join Joe Cocker's band and was replaced by Lindsey Buckingham. Albert's reputation was growing as he moved to Encino, and met his wife Karen whilst rehearsing up in Santa Barbara with Joe Cocker and his band before they went on the road. He contributed to Cocker's Sting Ray, and was then approached by A&M about putting together a solo album. At a pivotal point in his career, Albert was asked by Emmylou Harris to replace James Burton one of his guitar heroes who was leaving for Elvis Presley's band. In 1976 he joined the Hot Band, and his incredible guitar work came to the fore on the Luxury Liner LP. Albert released his first solo album Hiding, produced by Brian Ahern, which featured perhaps the definite version of Country Boy with Emmylou on backing vocals and Ricky Skaggs on fiddle. When he returned to London in 1978 for session recording, Albert met Eric Clapton. He was invited to join his band and played on Clapton's live album Just One Night, which featured Albert on lead vocals for a cover of Mark Knopfler's Setting Me Up. Albert would work with Eric for five years before he left and released his second solo album, the self-titled Albert Lee in 1982. Albert fulfilled his boyhood dream to play with the Everly Brothers in 1983 when he acted as guitarist and musical director for their reunion concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Since then he would regularly tour with the Everlys on and off for 20 years. After two instrumental albums Speechless (1986) and Gagged But Not Bound (1987) steel player Gerry Hogan invited Albert to headline at a festival in Newbury, England fronting his own band for the very first time, Hogan's Heroes. As Albert toured with Hogan's Heroes through the late 80s, he began his long association with Ernie Ball Music Man, who would eventually (through many iterations) produce his signature guitar that he tours and records with today. In 2002 he would join Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Paul McCartney and other music legends on stage at the Concert for George at the Royal Albert Hall. Albert also recieved a Grammy Award in 2002 for his contribution to Foggy Mountain Breakdown featured on Earl Scruggs and Friends. He appeared for the first time at Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2007, now an annual appearance, and has toured periodically for the last few years with ex-Stones bassist Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, performing with Georgie Fame. Joining his hero James Burton, along with the likes of Vince Gill and John Jorgenson, Albert won a Grammy for his performance on Brad Paisley's instrumental Cluster Pluck in 2009.

Nick Mulvey

Nick Mulvey

5 Jun 2025 - 6 Sept 2025

His standout debut album, First Mind, in 2015 was the introduction of an artist who shirked the conventional and side-stepped the expected. It was a record of opposing shades, all leftfield rhythms, and harnessing an exquisitely natural guitarist doing extraordinary things, painting unique colours across a very moreish collection of songs. It was quite peerless, and translated to the stage alongside fine collection of talented players that formed his band. Nick's return with the first fruits of his new album sessions has brought with it his own outlook on a world that can't decide which direction it's going, or quite what to do with itself. We're all hastily trying to find our spot within these times, and Nick is no exception, but if clarity is part-resolved by a call to arms, perhaps it's time to make that call. Unconditional, the first new music from Mulvey in over two years, is a multi-layered, groove-based tune that doesn't stray too far from First Mind, but far enough to sound fresh, unique and exciting.

Os Mutantes

Os Mutantes

23 Jul 2025 - 26 Jul 2025

Os Mutantes ("The Mutants") are an influential Brazilian psychedelic rock band that were linked with the tropicália movement of the late 1960s. When Os Mutantes was formed, it combined influences from psychedelic acts from the English-speaking world like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Sly & the Family Stone with bossa nova, tropicália, samba and the cultural legacy of the Brazilian art vanguards from the modernist movement. One of the most well-known and influential rock bands in Brazil, Os Mutantes are cited as a major influence to many contemporary underground or independent bands in the United States and Europe. Beck paid tribute to the group with his single "Tropicália" from the album Mutations. The Bees (UK band) covered "A Minha Menina" on their first album, Sunshine Hit Me. Red Hot Chili Peppers bass player Flea has stated on his Twitter account that he is a fan. Kevin Barnes of Of Montreal cites Os Mutantes as an important influence. Talking Heads frontman David Byrne has worked to publish and promote the group's music through his Luaka Bop label. Kurt Cobain publicly requested a reunion tour from the trio in 1993, writing a letter to Arnaldo Baptista, but the bands first live performance since 1978 was at London's Barbican Arts Centre on May 22, 2006 - (though without Rita Lee, who was replaced with Zélia Duncan on vocals). This performance was followed by shows in New York City, Los Angeles (with the Flaming Lips), San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, and Miami. However in September 2007, both Arnaldo Baptista and Zélia Duncan left the band, each expressing wishes to continue with their respective solo projects. Sérgio Dias, however, vowed to keep the reformed band alive, not wanting to let "the giant sleep again", as he put it. And so, led by Dias with Esmeria Bulgari on vocals, Henrique Peters on keyboards, Vinicius Junqueira on bass and Claudio Tchernev on drums the band toured extensively enjoying some great highlights such as "A Minha Menina" featuring as the audio track for the McDonald's commercial Victory in June 2008, their first new release in 35 years, Haih Or Amortecedor (ANTI- Records) in September 2009. Extensive tours in support of the album including Glastonbury Festival in June 2010. In 2011, they collaborated with Of Montreal on the song "Bat Macumba" for the Red Hot Organization's most recent charitable album "Red Hot+Rio 2." and in 2013 the release of their album Fool Metal Jack. In 2017, Sergio Dias collaborated with the English singer-songwriter, Carly Bryant and subsequently she was put into the band's line up on vocals, guitars and keyboards. Tres Olhos Music Festival quoted after her debut performance "Packed with the new vocals, Carly Bryant took the audience to ecstasy, showing she's here to stay. The six piece release the single 'Black and Grey' in late 2017 and are currently working on a new studio album. "A head-turning comeback - BBC Music "There was nothing quite like Os Mutantes, and there still isn't" The Guardian "Kaleidoscopic, politically-charged rock" - Billboard http://decoda.com/os-mutantes-lyrics

Goodbye Mr Mackenzie

Goodbye Mr Mackenzie

11 Jul 2025 - 11 Jul 2025

Goodbye Mr Mackenzie, one of Scotland's greatest bands of the 80's and 90's released their first album, Good Deeds and Dirty Rags, in 1989. It entered the UK charts at No.16 and the band quickly attracted a large, loyal support north of the border. Incredible live shows and singles like the Rattler, in particular, further cemented a fond place in many a Scottish heart. A colourful and varied career followed. As The List would have it: The Mackenzies left behind the most complex and fascinating footprint of any Scottish Band. Live they were stunning. Lead singer Martin Metcalfe looked like the MC of a particularly debauched cabaret, rousing a troupe that included Shirley Manson who went on to front Garbage and Big John Duncan ex-the Exploited and a couple of Nirvana gigs. While their Scottish counterparts were looking at soul and Steely Dan for inspiration the Mackenzies were taking theirs from the Pixies and the Birthday Party. They never stood still, releasing 6 albums in total and touring extensively, including supports for Blondie and Aztec Camera. They then appeared as Angelfish in the US with Manson taking over lead vocals, supported the Ramones and toured with the late great Vic Chestnut. An album produced by Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads was released before Manson went on to enjoy huge success with Garbage. Core members Metcalfe, Derek Kelly and Fin Wilson kept ploughing their own furrow and two more critically acclaimed albums under Isa & the Filthy Tongues, with American Stacy Chavis on vocals, ensued. Songs from this period appeared on the soundtrack to Richard Jobson's film New Town Killers and David Mackenzie's Hollywood movie Spread. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the album that started it all off, the Mackenzies are back to play Good Deeds in its entirety, plus perhaps a few little extra little treats. It's party time
Colonel Mustard & the Dijon 5

Colonel Mustard & the Dijon 5

6 Jul 2025 - 6 Jul 2025

Colonel Mustard & the Dijons are the shiny disco ball helmet wearing, ultimate genre hopping, twisted festival, live stage machine that put the emphasis on music, laughter and entertaining. Like a Dean Martin and Kenny Rogers hybrid with DNA of Bob Marley and Neil Diamond on mushrooms! Their live show has included laughter, yoga, Justin Bieber exorcisms, gaffa taped crowd surfing, mass group hugs, dance offs, creating beats by getting the crowd high 5ing, sing alongs about dancing in gay discos and being heart broken by ginger people, Mexican boings (like a Mexican wave but getting the crowd to say boing from one side to other) partial nudity and cattle stampede. Their music is a party at its most outrageous, ridiculous and joyous!

With a rousing blues-rock approach that touches on both classic rock and sleek modern alt-rock, Canadian guitar and drums duo the Blue Stones cut their teeth around their native Ontario in the early 2010s before finding a wider audience with 2016's gritty Black Holes album. Thanks to a handful of high-profile placements, including ESPN's Monday Night Football, their song, "Rolling with the Punches," found legs and eventually netted them a deal with industry giant, Entertainment One, who reissued Black Holes in 2018.
Kassidy

Kassidy

28 Jun 2025 - 18 Jul 2025

Scottish four-piece Kassidy may look like a pre-groomed , but their acoustic indie sound has more in common with the classic Americana of than the Southern boogie rock of . Formed in Glasgow, multi-instrumentalists Barrie-James O'Neill, Lewis Andrew, Hamish Fingland, and Chris Potter originally intended to play as a traditional four-piece outfit until settling on a setup that saw all members share vocal and guitar duties equally. Named after their favorite film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, they were forced to change the C to a K to avoid any confusion with the Philadelphia battle rapper of the same name. After releasing their debut single, "Night in the Box," through small label , they attracted the attention of various record companies, and following a well-received slot at T in the Park, they signed to in 2010. They recorded three volumes of their Rubbergum EP in their makeshift living quarters/studio before working with producer Jim Abbiss (, ) on their debut album, Hope St., which was released in 2011. Their sophomore effort, One Man Army, followed in 2012. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi
