Taff Rapids, Cardiff's bluegrass sensation, is taking the international stage by storm with a unique blend of original bluegrass compositions and their own take on traditional American and Welsh tunes. Comprised of seasoned musiciansDarren Eedens, Sin Russell Jones, David Grubb, and Clem Saynor, the band infuses their music with Welsh-language elements, bringing a fresh perspective to the bluegrass genre that resonates worldwide. In 2023, Taff Rapids was invited to perform at theIBMA World of Bluegrass Showcasein Raleigh, NC, USA, marking a significant milestone for the band as they represented Welsh bluegrass on an international stage. This achievement was followed by a successful Canadian tour, reflecting their growing global demand and solidifying their reputation as an exciting new force in bluegrass. Their captivating live performances, rich harmonies, and instrumental mastery continue to attract audiences across the UK and Europe. The band has also gained regular radio play on BBC Radio, including live performances on BBC Radio Cymru and features on BBC S4C television, helping to spread their unique "Blgras" sound to a wider audience. With their original "Blgras" sound, relentless drive, and increasing international demand, Taff Rapids is set to make an even bigger impact in the bluegrass world, introducing Welsh bluegrass to audiences across the globe and establishing themselves as a leading force in the genre.
Plug & Play presents Clive Carroll plus open mic
Acclaimed guitarist and composer Clive Carroll has created a sound world all his own, with a signature blend of warmth and humour that belies his dazzling technical skill. Clives masterful compositions feature influences mined from the delicate cadences of Elizabethan lute classics, the imaginative eccentricity of Frank Zappa, visionary classical composers such as Bartok and Ligeti, and hints of jazz and Delta blues. Clive made his musical debut at age two as a banjo-strumming cowboy singing nursery rhymes, and went on to earn a 1st Class Honours Degree in Composition and Guitar from the famed Trinity College of Music in London. He has toured and worked with guitar greats such as John Williams, Tommy Emmanuel, Xuefei Yang, Ralph Towner, and John Renbourn - as well as pop icon, Madonna. Acoustic Guitar Magazine calls Clive, Probably the best and most original young acoustic guitarist/composer in Britain, and Total Guitar Magazine includes him in their Top 10 Best Acoustic Guitarists of Al Time. Clives latest solo CD, The Furthest Tree, has been described as sensational instrumental music that knows no boundaries, and, a classic recording in the field of guitar music.
