They went on to record six studio albums, including the Mercury-Prize nominated album, Sky At Night. Since 2016, Bramwell has reverted to being a solo artist and tours continuously, around the UK and Europe. A home-recorded solo album, Leave Alone the Empty Spaces appeared in 2018 and the follow-up, a more expansive affair, with a working title of The Light Fantastic, is now scheduled for release in 2022.

Nobody is safe from her vindictive ways, especially the young, fun-loving villagers of Upper Doonigan! And now that young McKay seems to have disappeared into thin air, Gerda needs to find him, and old Grannie Frannie McMannie definitely needs to put her thermals on - she's pure freezin'! The adventure begins, as Gerda sets off on her quest to find McKay, and meets comical crows, gormless gardeners, a talking reindeer and a whole host of other unlikely types along the way, singing, dancing and even chucking sweeties out as they travel north to the icy realm of... Kirsten Adamson

Kirsten Adamson

20 Feb 2026 - 20 Feb 2026

Singer/songwriter Kirsten Adamson summons the same heart-stopping purity as Sandy Denny, by way of Emmylou Harris and Kate Bush. Transcendence runs in the family. Her father was Stuart Adamson (Skids, Big Country) and her mother Alexandra, a champion Highland dancer. With summers spent soaking up the atmosphere in Nashville with her dad and a string of leading roles in musical theatre back in the UK, the teenage Adamson’s course was set. She sang backing vocals on Big Country’s last album Driving to Damascus at age 13. By 2010, she was forging her own career as a vocalist and keyboard player for indie-folkers Aberfeldy. She fronted country rockers The Gillyflowers and more recently shone as half of alt-country duo The Marriage, and then on a self-titled solo debut. The austere beauty of her voice has been a constant motif.

CODA is a funny, heartwarming show all about the brilliant things that happen when you grow up in a house where sign language is the first language used; whether it’s watching his dad shut his eyes to win any argument or beating his in-laws easily when they suggested playing charades against a deaf family on Christmas Day. Ray’s previous shows Deaf Com One and Doppelginger were huge successes and sold-out theatres across the world. As this show is all about growing up with deaf parents every show of CODA will have a BSL interpreter. Ray has previously supported John Bishop on his UK arena tour after John described him as ‘one of the best comedians in the country’.

Malin Lewis

20 Mar 2026 - 29 Nov 2026

Innovator, award winning, multi-instrumentalist Malin Lewis melds Scottish West coast tradition with a newly invented, self-made bagpipe alongside stars Sally Simpson (Fiddle) and Ali Hutton (Guitar). Hair tingling, philosophical and dance inducing melodies inspired by European folk traditions, queerness and the universe. Having toured across the UK, Canada and Europe, Malin released their debut album 'Halocline' in May 2024 on Hudson Records. A Halocline is a visible layer that forms between salt and fresh water and is home to a unique microbial ecosystem. Halocline is a metaphor for Malins trans identity and living in a space in between; a beautiful space between a binary. Malin's unique timbre is born from the deep connection that comes from making and composing for their own instrument. Their one of a kind two-octave Smallpipe creates a whole new world of sound, captivating audiences at every opportunity. Inspired by the likes of Martyn Bennett, Duncan Chisholm and Sharron Shannon their music is as lively as it is thought provoking and sensitive. Recently Malin has been recording music for The Outrun film, composing for contemporary dance and theatre and been learning the tradition of the extinct Finnish Bagpipes.

You Look Like A Singer! 65 Years Of Ricky Garton
Cue to popular demand, we have added extra performances on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 December 2025 You Look Like A Singer! 65 Years Of Ricky Garton Support from Amos & Jauncey It all began for iconic Perth rocker Ricky Garton back in the late 1950's, when two guys approached him and asked if he would like to sing in their group. Ricky was a bit surprised by this as he had never sung a note in a band before but they told the handsome teenager that they thought he looked like a singer! So Ricky joined the Teenbeats with Andy Patterson and Ronnie Mulligan and since then he’s never looked back, performing his catalogue of rock and roll classics regularly for each of the next seven decades! When the Teenbeats split a couple of years later he joined The Cyclones, who cut their teeth in the clubs of Germany like so many British beat boom bands of the time. Ricky and his current band, The Breakers, will lead you on a musical journey through his incredible career, accompanied by some of the many musicians who have been part of that story. Classic songs from the golden era of rock and roll in the 50s and 60s will form the backbone of what promises to be an unforgettable celebration of Perth’s very own Elvis.

6 Mar 2026 - 6 Mar 2026

George Bernard Shaw, fascinated by the iconic figure of Joan of Arc, wrote his play after her canonisation in 1920. This 're-imagining' of his famous play highlights the key themes of justice, betrayal and individual vs state, and shows us how a play written 100 years ago is still relevant. Gail will talk about the original play and how it, and this new production invigorate each other. Chair of the BOOKMARK Book Festival, Gail Wylie began her career in education as an English teacher before joining the adult education department (now called the Centre of Lifelong Learning) at the University of Edinburgh where she became the Course Organiser for Literature and Creative Writing. Saint Joan

Saint Joan

4 Mar 2026 - 7 Mar 2026

A Raw Material, Perth Theatre and Aberdeen Performing Arts Co-Production in association with Citizens Theatre Saint Joan Saint Joan will reimagine George Bernard Shaw’s classic play for the 2020s, in a stripped-back, close-up staging, directed by Stewart Laing (formerly Untitled Projects), with a film sequence written and directed by Adura Onashile. Based on the extraordinary true story of a sixteen-year-old girl who led France to victory in the Hundred Years War, Saint Joan explores power, gender and youth-led change, taking us on the journey of someone from a marginalised background impacting international politics. As today’s world faces political unrest and war, Saint Joan speaks powerfully to a new generation challenging authority, reminding us of history’s unlikely revolutionaries. “Doing this huge historical pageant of a play in small spaces with limited resources is really exciting in terms of looking at Saint Joan with fresh eyes. In the 2020s we find our news feeds increasingly dominated by a world at war: what can we learn from this teenager’s battles with the powerful establishments of the military, the church, and the government?” – Stewart Laing, director Age Guidance 12+

The group achieved phenomenal success — from the Coca-Cola commercial that made I’d Like To Teach the World To Sing a global anthem, to Eurovision 1972, sell-out tours across Europe and America, and TV appearances alongside legends like Liza Minnelli and Neil Diamond. They made history when performing at President Nixon’s re-inauguration - the first ever international band to do so. Martland Kgakala Finlayson Silent Spring Alberga The Wild Blue Yonder Crumb Vox Balaenae (Voice of the Whale) Maric Shifting Baseline Syndrome Sweeney The Wooden Web Martland Reveille This thought-provoking programme weaves together bold contemporary voices who delve into the interconnectedness of nature, memory, and sound. Steve Martland’s Kgakala (meaning “sunrise”) opens with pulsing piano lines that won him early acclaim. His long-time partner in performance and composition, Dave Maric, presents a brand-new work, Shifting Baseline Syndrome, providing a commentary on what we classify as newly accepted norms in our relationship with nature. The concert closes with Martland’s rousing Reveille—a blazing, rhythmic call to consciousness. Rooted in environmental awareness and sonic curiosity, this is music that listens deeply—to the world, to each other, and to the future.
Red Note Ensemble and Laura Bowler: Deconstructing Pierrot
Deconstructing Pierrot Red Note Ensemble and Laura Bowler (voice) Composed by Laura Bowler Co-commissioned by Red Note Ensemble, Music on Main, and Ensemble Offspring A musical demolition and a dramaturgical interrogation, Laura Bowler’s Deconstructing Pierrot takes Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire and looks at the work through a contemporary queer lens. A new interpretation of Albert Giraud’s poems that repurposes musical material from Schoenberg’s work in a subversive act of defiance of the great master. It interrogates Schoenberg’s vocal writing for the female voice, and its evocation of mental instability. The genderless Pierrot representation of the alienated artist is brought into the present, accompanied by the many ills and preoccupations of the modern day artist; social media, identity, consumerism, loneliness, clicks, environmentalism.
Sailmaker

Sailmaker

13 Mar 2026 - 14 Mar 2026

The Gaiety in association with Beacon Arts Centre presents Sailmaker by Alan Spence Directed by Liz Carruthers Supported by Creative Scotland A poignant, poetic, and deeply human play that explores themes of family, grief, masculinity, and working-class life in Glasgow. Sailmaker tells the story of father and son Davie and Alec, and their changing relationship as they struggle with the recent loss of Alec’s mother, and Davie’s wife. The play follows their diverging paths across the following decade, as academically gifted Alec pursues education and religion, distancing himself from his working-class background, while Davie succumbs to grief, unemployment, and apathy. Eternally at the heart of their relationship is the broken model yacht that Davie never fulfilled his promise to fix – and everything this comes to symbolise. First performed in 1982, Sailmaker is a set text for National 5 English. It remains a powerful and resonant piece for audiences of all ages.

And worse still, Marguerite has unknowingly betrayed him to his greatest enemy, the ruthless Chauvelin, the Republic’s finest bloodhound. In this fast, funny three-actor retelling, romance and revolution collide in a whirlwind of disguises, daring rescues, marital misunderstandings, and gloriously silly comedy. Will Marguerite save her brother without destroying her marriage? Can Percy outwit Chauvelin and keep his secret safe? And how much of the budget has been spent on a ridiculous amount of wigs?
The Bathers

The Bathers

18 Apr 2026 - 18 Apr 2026

The Bathers are one of Scottish music’s great secrets, though it’s becoming an increasingly poorly kept one as their recent renaissance gathers glorious steam. The core lineup of Chris Thomson, Callum McNair, Nico Bruce and Hazel Morrison will be augmented by The Sirenesque String Quartet for a very special evening which will feature songs from their highly acclaimed latest releases Sirenesque and Pandemonia as well as classics from a catalogue of 8 studio albums stretching back to the late 1980’s. Though they have often been compared to Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Van Morrison, Tim Buckley, Bowie and The Blue Nile, The Bathers are a completely unique and achingly beautiful proposition. 'Lush, cinematic, essential…a beautiful thing - lost lullabies, hungover Casanovas, dreamy farewells... operatic intensity' Uncut 910 'Exquisite…A dash of Nick Cave/Tom Waits noir but Thomson aims even higher with the timeless classicism of Sinatra' The Scotsman 45 'The Bathers are literate, expressive and romantic….the best-kept secret and weirdest anomaly in Scottish music…they might just have made the album of the year' Loudersound.com
