Multi-million selling soul band The Real Thing are ready to give their much loved disco-inspired hits a new lease of life, with an extensive UK tour. Featuring the group’s two original vocalists Chris Amoo and Dave Smith, along with their 5-piece band, The Real Thing deliver a funky ‘in your face’ show with a strong ‘retro flavour’ with the band’s classic songs mixed with contemporary grooves. With hits like ‘Digging Your Scene’ and ‘It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way’, The Blow Monkeys epitomised the glamour of mid-80s pop at its most graceful and sophisticated. In the band’s frontman Robert Howard (aka Dr. Robert), they possessed a tall, charismatic singer who was both camera-friendly and clever, who appeared to be just as much at ease on the catwalk that is pop’s conveyor belt as he was penning witty, incisive songs. While quite clearly Robert’s band, though, the Blow Monkeys were also gifted three immensely talented musicians in bassist Mick Anker (he of the trademark bowler hat), saxophonist Neville Henry and drummer Tony Kiley. Behind the band’s stylish veneer lay something else, which became increasingly apparent from Robert’s lyrics. While some of the Smash Hits generation avoided politics with a capital P, The Blow Monkeys openly criticised the policies of the Conservative government, railing against social injustices and adopting an openly left-of-centre stance on issues of the day. From openly endorsing the gay community “Digging Your Scene” to an outright attack on Margaret Thatcher ‘Celebrate (The Day After You)’ – a duet with the late, great Curtis Mayfield, The Blow Monkeys were always the thinking person’s pop group. As the 1980s progressed, so too did the band’s musical style, from a sound once dubbed “jazz punk” by Robert to a more soulful, jazzy style and an ever-increasing adoption of dance music. The Blow Monkeys of their rare, indie debut single ‘Live Today Love Tomorrow’ (recorded on a shoestring in 1981) would be barely recognisable to those who bought the Balearic remix of ‘La Passionara’ from 1990. And yet a soulful, spiritually uplifting strain has continued to run through their music – and, indeed, that of Robert’s solo recordings – to this day.

The Dodge Brothers’ music has an authentically American tang – lead guitarist/vocalist Mike Hammond was raised in Alabama and his youthful musical travels took him all over the southern and western USA – but with a strong British perspective.

The Marley Experience are an eight piece Midlands based Bob Marley Tribute band with a difference, with lead vocalist Lionart & his undeniable vocal resemblance to the late great King of Reggae Bob Marley himself. Lionart has performed on stage alongside famous Reggae stars such as Dawn Penn, Erroll Dunkley & David Rodigan and has been the lead vocalist in bands such as the Friendly Fire Band & the Roots Ambassadors as well as playing trumpet for Reggae band Natural Mystic.

All-Star Brit Funk Supergroup featuring members of Beggar & Co, Hi-Tension, Central Line and ex-members of Light of the World & Incognito. The Brit-Funk genre started in the late 1970's and was a catch-all phrase coined by Record Mirror Magazine's James Hamilton to describe the distinctive mix of jazz-fusion-funk-disco music being made by UK bands such as Level 42, Light of the World, Freeez, Shakatak, Central Line, Hi-Tension, Morrissey / Mullen, Second Image, Direct Drive, Linx and Incognito. The Brit-Funk Association is a new project featuring musicians from Beggar & Co, Central Line, Hi-Tension and ex-members of Light of the World and Incognito to perform from each of the band's back catalogue such as "Time", "Somebody (Help Me Out)", "Walking Into Sunshine", "Hi-Tension", "British Hustle", "There's a Reason", "I'm So Happy", "London Town", "Nature Boy", "Everyday" and choice selections of band's that influenced them by acts such as Mass Production, Kool & The Gang, Roy Ayers Ubiquity etc

The South are an impressive 9-piece band that features former members of The Beautiful South, including singer Alison Wheeler and lifelong sax player Gaz Birtles. They play the songs made famous by The Beautiful South and bring back the full flavour and arrangements with this exciting live band. The South are keeping alive all those timeless songs such as A Little Time, Perfect 10, Rotterdam, Old Red Eyes is Back, Good as Gold, Don’t Marry Her, plus many more singles and album track; these songs span an impressive 20-year career starting way back in 1989!

Their live performance is to be held in awe, purely in anticipation of the live operatic architecture they consistently unfurl upon their willing audiences. Having invaded venues ranging from The Royal Albert Hall (on multiple occasions), playing alongside Elton John, The British Rock Symphony Orchestra and Blues festivals, Wembley Arena supporting The Who, The Viper Room in LA and Euro-fests galore, Never The Bride have amazed and floored audiences and peer groups alike over their 25 years of service – these ladies are true rock and roll royalty. Roger Daltrey broadcast “Nikki Lamborn has the best female rock voice since Janis Joplin and I know what I’m talking about, I knew Janis”. The legendary Dame Shirley Bassey called the girls “inspirational”, they have performed private shows for Cher and Liza Minnelli and Bob Harris from BBC Radio 2 referred to them as “one of the best live bands in Britain”; the ladies’ roll-call list is simply mind blowing – as are the stories the ladies readily share.

The Wonder of Stevie, the music of Stevie Wonder, with sensational vocalist Noel McCalla and the Derek Nash Band are, by popular demand, returning again to PizzaExpress Live, Holborn, their "Spiritual London Home" for three Spring, Summer and Autumn 2024 concerts. The band's sold out launch concert at in 2018 led to a continuing series of spectacular sold out shows in London and a UK national tour. 7- years later, this show continues to pack in large sold-out audiences. With audiences up on their feet dancing and demanding more and more, we had to make plans for this "Master Blaster" of a show to return to PizzaExpress Live Holborn where the band have payed on several occasion to lively enthusiastic concert goers.

“They’ve lasted because they are brilliant” Radio 2 Brothers Patrick and Gregory Kane formed Hue and Cry in the ’80s and the duo made a huge impact with the release of their debut album Seduced and Abandoned (1987) which featured their first top ten single Labour of Love. The follow up album Remote continued the trend and produced the huge hits Looking for Linda and Violently. Albums like Stars Crash Down, Showtime and Jazz Not Jazz ensured Hue and Cry’s continued successful run through the ’90s, whilst their 2005 appearances as finalists on ITV’s primetime show Hit Me Baby One More Time, featuring their version of Beyonce’s Crazy In Love, thrust the band firmly back into the mainstream limelight. A number of successful album releases and accompanying live appearances followed which included Open Soul (2008), Xmasday (2009), Bitter Suite Again (2010), Hot Wire (2012), Remote: Major to Minor (2014), September Songs (2015), Pocketful of Stones (2017). To date Hue and Cry have sold in excess of two million records worldwide. In 2019, Hue and Cry sold out their Summer Nights at the Bandstand show at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove park within forty-eight hours and finished the year by playing live all over the UK. With the global pandemic bringing live touring to a halt during 2020/21, Hue and Cry introduced their pioneering Live from Lockdown streaming shows which were broadcast live from the band’s Glasgow based studio and viewed online by thousands of fans around the world. A collection of their favourite tracks from these shows was released as a Best of Lockdown album (2022). Hue and Cry have sold tens of thousands of concert tickets worldwide. As well as performing alongside some of the greatest artists in music history – appearing with U2, James Brown, Madonna, Al Green and Van Morrison to name but a few – the band have undertaken a multitude of their own headline tours and made numerous festival appearances. Hue and Cry were recognised by their peers when they were recently presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Scottish Music Awards. The band are currently working on a brand new album and have made a welcome return to performing in front of audiences.

Geno originates from Evansville in Indiana, USA and first came to England in the 1960's as part of the US Air Force. His love of Blues and Soul music soon found him jamming with local bands in and around Ipswich and eventually led him to London where he caused a sensation singing with top R&B acts Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames and Zoot Money's Big Roll Band at the legendary Flamingo Club in Soho. The rest, as they say, is history. Geno teamed up with some of London's hottest musicians and Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band very quickly became established as the most exciting live band in Britain, regularly topping the bill over World famous artistes, as nobody in their right mind wanted to go on stage after a Geno show!

Originally formed in the mid 80s, this Grammy nominated, Anglo-Canadian rock band will always be remembered for their classic song '(I Just) Died In Your Arms', which helped define the musical sounds of the club scene during the '80's and is still played widely today. Over twenty years later, with millions of album sales, original singer/songwriter Nick Van Eede has signed new recording publishing deals and is back on the road promoting his awesome new material with an awesome new line up to the band. Awesome!

A chat over a pint with Pete Waterman and along with a bizarre auction where EMI would bid £25k for their production services resulted in the band working on two songs with Pete, Mike and Matt. Formed on Canvey Island in Essex in the early 1970s Dr. Feelgood remains one of the most popular and exciting live rhythm and blues acts in the world. The raw and uncompromising style of their performance resulted in the album Stupidity that immediately went to the number one position in the U.K. charts. Dr. Feelgood have also enjoyed global success with a string of hit singles including Roxette, Back in the Night, Milk and Alcohol, Down at the Doctors, She Does it Right, Going Back Home and See You Later Alligator - which gave the group their first gold record. The last album to feature Lee Brilleaux - Down at the Doctors, was recorded live at the Dr. Feelgood Music Bar on Canvey Island, (now the site of the Oysterfleet Hotel) just two months before he died. The current line up features the rhythm section Kevin Morris on drums and Phil Mitchell on bass (both 38years), the return of legendary Gordon Russell on guitar, and Robert Kane (formerly of the Animals) who joined in 1999. Julien Temple’s film Oil City Confidential released on 2nd February 2010 tells the story of the bands formative years featuring the Wilko Johnson era. May 2011 saw the digitally re – mastered re release of Chessmasters originally released in 2000 on EMI Records … the band’s tribute to the Chess label, home to many of the finest blues artists of the 20th century and the first Dr Feelgood album to feature Robert on vocals. April 2021 saw the release of Greatest Hits on Grand Records. The band continues to tour extensively throughout the World.

From the USA Angelo Starr younger brother of the late great Edwin Starr presents a Soul & Motown party. He has taken over lead vocals with Edwin Starr’s original band which is still intact with sax, keyboard, percussion, lead guitar, bass guitar, drums & male and female backing vocalists. LORRAINE SILVER Northern soul legend Lorraine Silver recorded the classic “Lost Summer Love” for Pye Records when she was 13 years old in 1965.The track went on to become an iconic track at the legendary WIGAN CASINO allnighter in the 70’s and due to high public demand the single was re-released on the Casino Classics label and sold in excess of 30,000 copies.In her set she also performs versions of some Northern Soul classics including “Landslide” & “Long After Tonight Is All Over”.She now has a new release “Fever Raging Out Of Control” which is receiving extensive radio airplay. MR GRIFF After spending over 20 years as a session drummer, working with a host of acts and musicians both locally and internationally, Ian Griffith aka ‘Mr Griff’ is now fronting his own project. Drawing on a wealth of influences from his years as a drummer, and with a band packed with some of the finest local Cambridge players, Mr Griff creates a unique blend of Soulful, Bluesy, Funk, guaranteed to get you moving. He cites influences like Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield and Bill Withers and with powerful vocals, catchy song writing and infectious grooves the band definitely hark back to that classic era. We are delighted to present the leading American independent soul artist Cornell “CC" Carter for his debut at the club. Cornell "CC" Carter has had a meteoric rise over the past 5 years , but the talented singer and songwriter paid his dues for many years before that, first playing clubs in the Bay Area, while also becoming an A-list supporting vocalist for stars all over the U.S. But with his 2016 album In The Moment, Cornell moved to the front of the indie soul class, winning the SoulTracks Readers' Choice Award as Best New Artist, and beginning a string of successful album releases. Jazz Morley is a fast-rising singer-songwriter whose beautiful voice and emotive lyrics have earned her comparisons to musical icon Joni Mitchell. In the last few years Jazz Morley has performed on high-profile stages including BST Hyde Park, The Royal Albert Hall and The Olympia in Paris. She has supported legendary artists Rodriguez, Tom Jones, George Benson and, most recently, Paul Carrack on his extensive UK tour. Morley’s music has been streamed more than 15 million times on Spotify; she is now busy writing her long-awaited debut album, with plans to release and tour the UK in her own right over the Autumn of 2024. British soul pioneers, KOKOMO, built their reputation and loyal following through the immensity of their live shows. Featuring some of UK's finest musicians and vocalists, recruited from bands such as Arrival, Joe Cocker's Grease Band, King Crimson..., who shared a deep passion for American Soul music, Kokomo were in a class of their own and in 1975 took London by storm! They joined the seminal 'Naughty Rhythms' tour alongside Dr Feelgood and Chilli Willi & the Red Hot Peppers, and the band's debut album is now considered a classic among collectors.

There can be no denying that the pyrotechnic Snowboy And The Latin Section are Europe's leading Afro Cuban Jazz group. From their debut release in 1985, they have released 16 albums and played concerts and festivals in over 22 countries, from Holland to Australia, from Japan to Scotland.

Join the UK’s hardest swinging band Down for the Count. Down for the Count are a mini big band who bring the sounds of the Swing Era back to life, with an electrifying show full of incredible energy and musicianship. Described as “a breath of fresh air on the swing scene” they are now regularly found at jazz clubs in the UK and abroad (Ronnie Scott’s London, Le Caveau de la Huchette Paris), at festivals including London Jazz Festival, and on BBC Radio. Down for the Count’s show celebrates A Century of Swing. The band take you on a whistle-stop tour of the best swing music, tracing the origins of the music from 1920s America through to the genre’s heyday in the 30s, 40s and 50s. The band will also perform their own original arrangements of classic jazz standards, featured on their new album and bringing swing music right up to date. You’ll hear instrumental songs from the likes of Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller and vocal classics from singers such as Nat ‘King’ Cole and Ella Fitzgerald, all presented with Down for the Count’s own unmistakable brand of wit and humour.

Guitarist, Vocalist and Band Leader Ciyo Brown, presents his seventh Album to date, ‘Can We Pretend’. Carrying the mantra, “Vocal excursions with a Tinge of Guitar”, the Quartet featuring Larry Bartly – double bass, Sean Hargreaves – Grand piano and Pete Adam-Hill – drums will perform an eclectic range of original and re-interpreted classic songs taken from a wide palette of genres such us jazz, soul, reggae and pop.

Jaki Graham is one of the most appealing Soul entertainers to emerge from the UK, as a true pioneer having paved the way for many a black British female solo artist who followed. Jaki achieved international success with a string of hits from '85 including 'Could it Be I'm Falling In Love?', 'Round and Around', 'Set Me Free', 'Step Right Up' and 'Breaking Away', also making the Music Guinness Book of Records in the 80's as the first black British female solo artist to have 6 consecutive Top 10/20 hits.

Following her sell-out shows last year at The Pheasantry, Babs Savage returns with her dynamic 7-piece band which includes ex-Culture Club drummer Jon Moss. Performing some of her favourite songs from Nina Simone, Alicia Keys, Chaka Kahn and Gregory Porter, as well as a collection of new songs and well-loved covers. Babs show is a wonderful mixture of soul, jazz and funk – exciting and impressive.

Irish Blues-Rock guitarist, songwriter Rory Gallagher started out in R&B power trio Taste in 1966. Taste supported Cream and Blind Faith before splitting in 1970 after their appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival. Rory starting touring under his own name alongside bassist Gerry McAvoy. Sadly we lost Rory on 14th June 1995, to his devoted fans and followers this was the ultimate tragedy. Band of Friends is not a tribute to Rory, more a celebration of his life and music featuring his long-term bassist Gerry McAvoy along with special guests.

Supernatural is an all-star tribute to the music of Peter Green. The show had its sell-out debut in 2019 and every show since has been a sell-out. Adrian Crutchfield received his first saxophone at age four onstage with Kenny G, has earned praise from Dave Koz and performed and recorded with Prince during the last four years of the legend’s life. The multi-talented musician’s genre fluid credits include Bette Midler, Lionel Richie, Anthony Hamilton and Young Jeezy. Yet all those fantastic associations are mere prelude to what he’s doing as a solo Smooth Jazz artist. Five years after LEAP, he’s back with LOVER, a richly soulful and sonically adventurous album that’s as alternately sassy, sultry, tenderly intimate and romantic as its title indicates. New York-based Grammy Award winner Nile Rodgers has celebrated success both as an artist and producer, working across a range of genres. He's been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, having produced work by the likes of Diana Ross, David Bowie and Madonna. Rodgers has also collaborated with Daft Punk, Avicci and Sigala in recent years. Formed in the '70s with the since departed Bernard Edwards, Rodgers is also the co-founder of CHIC. An emerging force on the UK Jazz scene, OK Aurora are a London based octet led by drummer / composer Rod Oughton.
