Welcome to Polka Theatre’s new season. Following our major redevelopment, we are thrilled to be fully open for everyone to explore our wonderful, accessible spaces. We have an incredible range of shows and workshops to delight children of all ages, and remember you can also come without a ticket to enjoy our free-to-access indoor and outdoor play areas, sample the refreshments in the Café with family or friends, or browse in our new shop. Polka is a creative hub for everyone to enjoy but don’t take our word for it, come and discover it for yourself.

Starcatchers and Dirliebane Theatre Company present Laaaunch!, an adventure of galactic proportions, made especially for tiny humans. It’s perfect for babies up to 12 months who truly understand the challenge, peril and pleasure of lying, rolling, stretching, sitting up and making it to standing. Join stellar adventurers Dot, Dash and Minim for an interactive and rhythmical journey of physical exploration, strength, excitement and determination that requires the expertise of your baby. With a comfortable set that babies are free to explore, Laaaunch! is a non-verbal performance, filled with musical beats and comedy, where the babies can interact with the performers in their own way and in their own time. Every baby in the space is welcomed by the characters singing their names, and they are introduced to the other babies in the audience, creating an immediately welcoming and engaged space. Laaaunch! has been designed for babies up to 12 months old and must be no older than this at the time of the performance.

Little Angel Theatre bring Michael Rosen’s thrilling and funny adventure to life in this entrancing puppetry production directed by Peter Glanville and with music and lyrics by renowned singer-songwriter Barb Jungr.

She’s never felt so full of love – or so alone. Days (and nights) can be tough. But she’s working it out. A Tale of Us is a brand new play for parents and their babies. Join Ivy and her little one on a funny, frank and magical journey through their first year of life together. Blending drama and multi-sensory playtime in a relaxed and beautifully designed environment, this is a celebration of the wonder, joys and challenges of becoming a new parent. After each performance there will be a guided Stay and Play session – a chance for everyone to explore the world of the show and meet other parents and babies. Made for parents with children ages 0-18 months.

A gorgeous, funky fairytale for lovers of ALL music, based on award-winning author, Hannah Lee and Allen Fatimaharan’s inspirational children’s book. Developed with support from Z Arts. This is a brand-new production and information on the show may change. Based on the original book The Rapping Princess published by Faber & Faber. Joined by the mischievous Lost Boys and feisty fairy Tink, can they work together to defeat the formidable Captain James Hook, who’s determined to take Peter’s sword and rule over Neverland once and for all? From the creative minds behind ‘Pied Piper’ and Polka’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’, comes a magical family musical adventure, packed with original songs performed live by a company of award-winning vocalists, beatboxers, and rappers. Find your courage, choose your happy thought, and learn what it means to grow up – or not! “Peter Pan” is presented by arrangement with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd.
