Prince Edward Theatre

The Prince Edward Theatre, a feast for Art Deco fans, was named after the Queen's rakish uncle, then heir to the throne; appropriately, it was here in 1933 that London first witnessed Josephine Baker's fabulously naughty 'banana dance'. After a chequered career as a casino, service club and cinema, it returned to being a theatre in 1978 and since then has hosted many hit musicals, notably Evita, Chess, Mamma Mia!, Mary Poppins and Jersey Boys. The nearest Tube is Charing Cross (Northern / Bakerloo) and the theatre is served by routes 3, 6, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 22, 23, 38, 88, 94, 139, 159 and 453. There is pay parking at Soho Square and NCP parking at Wardour Street, Denman Street, Newport Place and Brewer Street.
