Princes Street Gardens
An important part of many cultural events that happen in the city throughout the year, the gardens that flank the southern side of Princes Street are a pleasant green space in the heart of the city. Tourists and locals visit the gardens regularly to go for a run, walk their dogs or just sit here and enjoy the occasional sunshine. However, Princes Street Gardens have a major role in the city’s vibrant cultural life, too: the Fringe Festival, Jazz Festival and Hogmanay celebrations all stage events here, usually incorporating the Ross Bandstand. The gardens are also the home for the famous annual Christmas market with numerous food and craft stalls.
