BUSHEY FESTIVAL SPECIAL EVENT - Guided House Tour of Reveley Lodge BOOKING WILL GO LIVE ON THE 1st June 2025. We are delighted to offer as part of the Bushey Festival week, a guided house tour of Reveley Lodge at 2pm on Friday 11th July. You can enjoy this unique property complete with its furniture and fittings and the stories to go with it. The tour ends with tea and cake. You will be contacted three days before the guided house tour with final details. Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to two weeks before the start date. Reveley Lodge is a large, Grade II listed, Victorian house, on Elstree Road, Bushey Heath, now run by a board of Trustees set up by Bushey Museum Trust, to whom the property was bequeathed by its last owner, Mrs Eila Chewett. For the early part of it's life, Reveley Lodge has acted as a 'Gentleman's Cottage' - a small country house easily reached at the weekend from the owner's principal home in London. The Lodge has a two acre garden managed by a professional gardener, assisted by a number of volunteers. The garden is open to the public on weekdays and is a member of the National Garden Scheme.
Summer Seascapes Half-Day Watercolour Workshop
Kate Rebecca Leach is an artist and illustrator based in Hertfordshire. Her original artwork and high quality Gicle prints feature creative watercolour techniques and embellished metallic details. Kate founded her business, Essoldo Design, in August 2020 and has sold pieces to over 30 countries across the globe and has successfully licensed her work in the UK, Europe and the USA. Her First book Creative Abstract Watercolour was published in Spring 2024. Why not join us for a workshop and create your own work of art for your home? Learn to create striking abstract shapes including Kates signatures stripes and pebbles, in a colour palette of your choice! In this workshop you'll learn how to use organic watercolour shapes to form decorative abstract designs. You'll learn various watercolour techniques and decorative ideas to help you create your very own, unique piece that combines watercolour, inks details, and accents of metallics. Youll use inspiration from the beautiful garden at Reveley Lodge and youll take inspiration from Kates portfolio of abstract designs and patterns. All materials will be provided but please feel free to bring your own favourite materials or brushes if you wish. This class is suitable for total beginners through to experienced artists. This workshop takes place in the Billiard room at Reveley Lodge, Heritage house. On the day please dress warmly if weather is cool and wear suitable flat shoes for the house and garden. Refreshments are available from the Garden Cafe, located in the Stables Art Gallery, open from 10.00 - 16.00. Workshop starts at 10.30, where there will be an introduction to watercolour florals and techniques. At 12.30 there will be a 30 minute break for refreshments available from the Garden Cafe and workshop will commence from 13.00 and end at 15.00. Botanical identification and'Lifting The Blues'Cyanotype Workshop
Botanical identification and 'Lifting The Blues' Cyanotype Workshop Thursday 12th June 2025 10.00am -12.30pm Reveley Lodge and Gardens This workshop will introduce you to the basics of the cyanotype printmaking-process discovered in 1842 using watercolour paper, cyanotype paint and light to create your own unique images. Join our local wellbeing photographer Mary Musgrove, as she guides you through this creative process whilst learning about its history and chemistry. This course is limited to 10 participants for a personal and hands-on experience. All materials will be provided but please feel free to bring your own favourite materials such as pressed flowers, feathers, leaves or 3D opaque objects. This class is suitable for beginners and anyone aged 16+ The workshop starts in the Billiard room at Reveley Lodge and we will spend a lot of time in the gardens if the weather is bright. Please dress warmly if the weather is cool and wear suitable flat shoes for the house and garden with sun protection if needed. An introduction to Modern Calligraphy - Half Day Workshop
Join experienced calligrapher Jen Roffe to learn how to create beautifully joyful lettering in this modern, relaxed and informal style of calligraphy. Modern calligraphy is a creative and expressive way to create lettering - and using brush pens makes it even more so. In this workshop you will learn the calligraphy rules - and how to break them - to create your own unique, fun style with brush calligraphy pens in a variety of colours. Its all about enjoying the process, and the mindful, calming nature of practising calligraphy. You will learn the essential techniques of calligraphy with brush pens - how to position yourself, your paper and how to hold the pen, and then start with beginner brush strokes and mark making. You'll be practicing alphabets, upper and lowercase letter forms, and then eventually joining them into words and phrases. Using the techniques you've learnt you will create your own hand lettered pieces that you can frame, pop up on a shelf, or give to friends. With plenty of joyful inspiration and encouragement from Jen you will be creating your own greetings card and an uplifting calligraphy quote for your final pieces. This workshop is open to everyone, from those who have dabbled before to those who are total beginners! All calligraphy materials are included and for you to use both in the workshop and take away with you so you can keep practising and creating at home - and as well as guiding the whole class with demonstrations and instructions, Jen will be there to provide you with one-on-one tuition and help. Specialist brush pens, lettering guides, upper and lowercase alphabet templates, and calligraphy quote templates are all included, plus white card, folded cards and envelopes to complete your brush calligraphy final pieces. The workshop runs from 10.00 - 1.30pm, with a 30 minute mid-way break over at the Lodges lovely Stable Cafe where refreshments are available to buy before we commence with our final pieces.
