The Searchers and Hollies Experience

The Searchers and Hollies Experience

1 Jun 2025 - 18 Jul 2025

Now in its eighth year, The Searchers and Hollies Experience... The best of both worlds brings to the stage the magical hits of these two legendary harmony bands. Bringing back memories of the most high-energy decade in pop music history. Let the haunting melodies transport you to that exciting era when millions of records were sold. The Searchers, from Liverpool, made their debut with the rise of Mersey Beat. Their very first recording, Sweets For My Sweet went to number 1 in the charts. This was followed at No.2 by their third single, Sugar And Spice. They then went on to have many more memorable chart hits. Who can forget Needles And Pins and When You Walk In The Room. They had many other hits and became part of the British invasion of the American charts alongside The Beatles. The Hollies, from Manchester, were also pushed forward with the rise of Mersey Beat as they played many of the same venues as the Mersey groups. The Hollies are known as the most successful British singles band ever, having had chart hits in every decade since the 60s. Catchy, melodic tunes are their trademark and they have had phenomenal chart success. Stay, I Can't Let Go, Bus Stop, Sorry Suzanne, He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother, Here I Go Again, Just One Look and the haunting Air That I Breathe are just a few of their hits. The Searchers and Hollies Experience is performed by the FOD Band who have been together since 1983. They have a particular insight into the Searchers music having backed Tony Jackson, the original lead singer of The Searchers. When Tony returned to performing in the 90s, he selected The FOD Band to back him under The Tony Jackson Group banner. The FOD band have also appeared with Eric Haydock's Hollies, a band that Eric Haydock - the original Hollies bass guitarist - formed in the 1990's. FOD love the harmonies and the melodic material these groups recorded, and this is what motivated them to combine these two groups hits into an exciting 2 hour tribute show featuring over 30 hit songs.

A Night of Music with Kevin Barry and Brian Mann
Brian Mann Born in Hollesley, Brian went to school at Farlingaye in Woodbridge and has lived in Suffolk all his life.Having had a great interest in music from an early age, it was while working amongst USAF personnel at the Bentwaters base that he caught the country music bug. This was the beginning of a journey that would take Brian into performing, presenting and promoting this eternally popular genre of music."I think country music is so popular because the lyrics can be related to something that has happened to somebody sometime during their life," he said."The musical content can be any tempo which suits your listening mood and the style can contain links with folk, blues, pop, jazz, rock, reggae and soul."Brian has performed country music since the late 1970s.His most memorable times have been backing the legendary George Hamilton IV on a two-week tour in 1989 and more recently playing on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. In February 1990, Brian's music interests steered him to Broadcasting House in Ipswich, where BBC Radio Suffolk was being launched and so started presenting Suffolk Country with Brian Mann. Kevin Barry Kevin was born and grew up in Coventry. He started playing classical guitar at the age of seven. During his school years, Kevin took to playing other instruments too, such as the violin and the trumpet, and was often taking parts in the school orchestra and shows. He was also listening to country music continually, due to his parents musical taste, and eventually learned a few tunes on the banjo. At the age of 14, Kevin was invited to play banjo in a bluegrass trio, which was when he sang his first solo. It was also during the time with this band that Kevin made his first TV appearance. After spending many years in mainly country bands as a bass / banjo player Kevin was eventually asked to play with The Down County Boys, a well respected bluegrass band, whom he had admired for many years. They toured all around Britain and spent a month touring The States where he met Bill Monroe, Ricky Skaggs and many more country / bluegrass performers. In 1988 Kevin moved to East Anglia and promptly joined an established band called Stealer. Whilst playing the clubs, theatres and festivals he met with New Dawn (Julie and Lindy Dawn), two lovely sisters with great voices. He eventually joined them, as lead guitarist, to form The New Dawn Trio. They toured around England and many neighbouring countries with different lineups for 18 1/2 years after which New Dawn dispanded.Kevin now enjoys playing the clubs, theatres and festivals as a solo act. I love the music and the many friends I meet through it..... Kevin Barry

Brian Bilston & Henry Normal

Brian Bilston & Henry Normal

6 May 2025 - 17 Oct 2025

Brian Bilston and Henry Normal appear together for the first time in a show which one critic has described as “two people reading some poems”. Along the way, they will be drawing on their vast catalogue of crowd favourites – and throwing in new poems, to prevent becoming their own tribute bands. Not ones to overpromise, Brian and Henry are prepared to commit to delivering the greatest poetry show in the history of the world or their names aren’t Brian Bilston and Henry Normal. An evening of poems to be enjoyed not endured.

Seascapes in Watercolour workshop

17 May 2025 - 17 May 2025

In this one-day en plein air watercolor workshop, youll explore the expressive and fluid qualities of watercolor while capturing the movement, light, and atmosphere of the sea. Through washes, layering, and dynamic brushwork, youll learn techniques to depict waves, reflections, and coastal compositions with confidence and spontaneity. Guided by Francesco Poiana, participants will examine the balance between representation and abstraction, drawing inspiration from artists such as J.M.W. Turner, Winslow Homer, and John Marin. Set in a stunning coastal location, this immersive workshop will encourage you to observe and interpret the natural surroundings, painting directly from life. Youll experiment with watercolor and ink, exploring wet-on-wet techniques, atmospheric washes, and the interplay of color and transparency to bring your seascapes to life. This workshop is suitable for all levels, whether youre new to watercolor or looking to refine your skills in capturing the ever-changing seascape.
The Feathered Thorns + Support

The Feathered Thorns + Support

26 Sept 2025 - 26 Sept 2025

The Feathered Thorns are Polly Wright and Jason Wick who are long term collaborators on a wide range of commissioned work for Theatre, Poetry, Film and Installation. They create compelling, explorative music which defies classification of genre and is in turn beguiling, unsettling, visceral, spectral, romantic and raw. It weaves themes like folklore fantasy, domestic truth and filmic dream scenes, into beautifully crafted vignettes featuring imaginary characters depicted in states ranging from desperate fragility to sharp toothed menace, against a backdrop of lonely country lanes, haunted houses and threadbare, seaside hotel rooms. With their perceptive balance of tender and grit, the songs are startling and emotive in their atmosphere and drama, producing an authentic raw tonal palette over a haunting collage of lo- fi soundscapes, created using voices, guitar, piano and sampled sounds.
