KINDRED SPIRITS represents the coming together of three of the UK’s most enduring 80’s alternative rock acts to create an unmissable triple bill of dark and atmospheric post punk music in a truly unique East London venue. Balaam And The Angel: formed in 1984 by the Morris brothers, have performed for 40+ years. They gained mainstream recognition with Virgin Records and "I'll Show You Something Special" (featured in "Trains, Planes And Automobiles"). The band recently released a 4 track EP "Forces Of Evil". Ghost Dance: formed in 1985 by Anne Marie Hurst (formerly of Skeletal Family) and Gary Marx (founding member of The Sisters Of Mercy), has re-emerged with a lineup of notable alternative rock musicians. The band have recently released a fantastic album of new material "Silent Shout". Rose Of Avalanche: An English alternative rock band from Leeds formed in 1984. Rose Of Avalanche have been responsible for creating some of the most recognisable and genre defining songs. Decolonise Fest is a London-based music festival created by and for people of colour in the punk scene. Over the weekend we will host music, panels, and workshops that celebrate the contributions of punx of colour. Passion, punk and solidarity will be the order of weekend when Decolonise Fest - a UK DIY punk festival created by and for people of colour - returns next month. This year’s festival will take place from Saturday 6th to Sunday 7th September at Signature Brew Walthamstow in East London, with an all-new lineup looking to pick up where former Decolonise Fest alums like Nova Twins, Bob Vylan, Big Joanie and Grove have left off in previous years. The festival will uplift and stand proudly with Palestinians amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza, as well as featuring a wealth of music and workshops designed to centre and celebrate the contributions of people of colour to alternative music. Over the past three decades or so, Jah Wobble has ploughed his own furrow as a prolific solo artist, as well as becoming a well-respected session musician, with genuine passion for Eastern and Global music. He has worked with a diverse range of musicians, including Baaba Maal, Bjork, Primal Scream, Brian Eno, Sinead O'Connor, Julianne Regan, Delores O'Riordan, Holgat Czukay, The Edge and Chaka Demus & Pliers. The man born John Wardle began his musical journey when he met John Lydon and Sid Vicious at Kingsway College, London in 1973. It was Vicious who not only nicknamed John 'Jah Wobble' after a drunken binge but also loaned him his first bass guitar. Lydon asked JW to join Public Image Limited (aka PiL) in spring 1978. Wardle's distinctive 'low end' bass became the backbone of PiL's pioneering sound. After its follow-up, the exploratory yet sinister soundscapes of Metal Box, Wardle became disillusioned by politics within the band and their reluctance to play live. He eventually split from PiL in mid-1980 and embarked on a prolific solo career. Wobble is joined on stage by drummer Marc Layton-Bennett and Martin Chung.

We Can Be Heroes returns from our summer break on Sunday, 28th September with another musical extravaganza at Signature Brew, Blackhorse Road E17. We're showcasing the future of music on the big stage inside, with a whole host of great young acts. Entry is free for all under-18s, whether they're performing on stage or watching from the audience. For adults, it's just £5 per ticket, to help us with our running and equipment costs. After the success of April, the maddest music quiz in London comes back to E17 in October for another night of tunes, questions & prizes, plus a few surprises along the way.
