Villa by Guillermo Caldern

17 Jun 2025 - 21 Jun 2025

South London Theatre presents: Villa by Guillermo Caldern Villa is a gripping and thought-provoking drama that explores the painful legacy of a countrys past, set against the backdrop of a former torture site. In this powerful and intimate play, three women gather to debate the future of the Villa Grimaldi, a real-life site of atrocities during Chiles dictatorship. Their mission: to decide how the site should be memorialised. As the women deliberate, they confront deep, conflicting emotions about memory, justice, and the responsibilities of remembering a painful history. Should the site be a museum, a memorial, or something else entirely? Their intense conversation becomes a metaphor for a nations struggle to reconcile with its violent past. On June 20th the playwright, Guillermo Caldern will do a Q&A via Zoom after the performance. Director:Steve Grist Total running Time (Estimate): Approx 90 minutes, no interval. Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach. Adapted by David Wood, Music by John Trent Wallace
South London Theatre presents: Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach. Adapted by David Wood, Music by John Trent Wallace In this delightful stage adaptation, Roald Dahls classic tale is faithfully told by James himself, along with the insect characters Miss Spider, Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede, Ladybird, and Earthworm. Full of fun, thrills and a sprinkling of magic, James' epic adventures will be brought to life in a show for all the family. Director:Simon Gleisner Total running Time (Estimate): Approx 2 hours including an interval Advisories: Please arrive on time, as we are unable to allow latecomers. Recommended age: This is a family show without age restrictions - we just ask that you make sure you and whoever you bring along will be comfortable sitting through the show (it's 2 hours long with a fifteen minute interval) and don't mind singing and dancing, flashing lights and loud sound effects and a couple of nasty aunts. Unfortunately, if you have to leave during the show you won't be able to come back in. And all children must be accompanied at all times. Trigger Warnings: James and the Giant Peach was written in the 1980s and is classic Roald Dahl. In particular, it has two very nasty Aunts who behave badly and are very rude to each other (and James!) including making horrible comments about each others bodies/how each other looks. We have made sure it is only the Aunts who exhibit this behaviour, so it is clear that it is not acceptable in the year 2025. Cast: James Ed Smith Old Green Grasshopper Tom Melly Spider Hannah McCorry Centipede Tom Mathias Ladybird Lorna Reed Earthworm Dougal Patterson Ticket Prices: Early Bird ( first ten sold for each performance ) 14.00 Standard 16.00 Family Ticket (admits 4, two of which must be under 18) 50 Member/Supporter Early Bird ( first twenty sold for each performance ) 10.00 Member/Supporter Standard 12.00 Member/Supporter Family 40.00 Thursday evenings have a flexible price, minimum 5.00 per person regardless of ticket type.
