Ekaterina Frolova & Vesselin Stanev Concert
The pianist Vesselin Stanev, who is originally from Varna (Bulgaria), studied at the Music Academy in Sofia, with Dmitri Bashkirov at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, with Alexis Weissenberg and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. Further inspiration came from Peter Feuchtwanger in London. The Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and the Concours Marguerite Long – Jacques Thibaud saw him as a prize-winner. He regularly performs in major concert halls in Europe, such as the Wigmore Hall in London, the Philharmonie Berlin, the Gewandhaus Leipzig or the Salle Gaveau in Paris. He also travels to the Nordic countries, to Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, Russia and Japan. He devotes particular attention to chamber music, for example with the violinist Ekaterina Frolova, the flautist Eva Oertle or the cellist Zoltán Despond. He has made numerous CD recordings for RCA, Sony Classical and the Bulgarian label Gega New.

The Ship & Mitre is proud to bring our legendary Beer Festival back to the heart of Liverpool! Join us at the iconic St George’s Hall for an unforgettable celebration of beer, food, and entertainment! Expect over 250 beers and ciders, including: Real ales, Craft beers, continental lagers & a specialty gin and rum bar. We’ll be showcasing incredible brews from across the UK alongside some of the best local breweries. Entertainment will feature across all sessions (except Friday afternoon, which is our quiet session for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere). Food will be provided by local vendors, with plenty of hot options available inside St George’s Hall. Full beer lists and entertainment details will be announced closer to the event, make sure you’re signed up to our mailing list or follow us on social media for updates! We do allow children into our daytime sessions but we operate a strict challenge 25 procedure on all our bars so please bring ID.
Music on the Mintons: Organ Recital by The Girly Organist
A musical performance will take place within the Great Hall every Friday throughout the Minton Tile Reveal, featuring a blend of traditional and contemporary artists. Dr Rebekah Okpoti is a classically trained organist, academic, and social media trailblazer who is bringing the pipe organ to new audiences. Known for her expressive, contemporary approach, she blends traditional repertoire with modern favourites, including her much loved performance of Pink Pony Club, reshaping how listeners experience the instrument. All ticket sales directly support the upkeep of St George’s Hall, with donations also going directly to the St George’s Hall Charitable Trust, which works to preserve the Hall for future generations, as well as the restoration of the Willis Organ. Music on the Mintons: Ian Tracey Organ by Candlelight
A musical performance will take place within the Great Hall every Friday throughout the Minton Tile Reveal, featuring a blend of traditional and contemporary artists. A special organ recital by candlelight will illuminate the Minton Tiles, creating a striking setting for this unique performance. Prof Ian Tracey Professor Ian Tracey is one of the UK’s most celebrated organists. Appointed Organist of Liverpool Cathedral at just 24, the youngest cathedral organist in the country at the time, he has since enjoyed an international career spanning major venues across Europe, the USA, and Australia. He has served as the City Organist for Liverpool for over four decades, and is also curator of St George’s Hall’s historic Willis Organ. His performances blend raw storytelling with rich, atmospheric arrangements, a perfect match for the grandeur and resonance of the Minton Tiles. Pianist Brad Kella, winner of Channel 4’s The Piano, returns to his hometown for a special performance as part of St George’s Hall’s Minton Tile Reveal summer programme. He will perform two intimate concerts on Saturday 29 August in the beautiful Concert Room, playing Liverpool’s iconic Steinway. With his number one debut album Phoebe’s Melody, a sold-out UK tour, and performances at major venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Brad returns to where it all began Tickets include access to the Minton Tile Reveal. Absence, curated by sociologists Laura Harris and Maike Pötschulat, is a new group exhibition that brings together the photography of seven visual sociologists, alongside finalists from an open call for photography of absences in the Liverpool City Region. The show explores absence as both a social reality and a visual language. Across more than 100 photographs, the show investigates absence’s many forms, asking: What does it mean to document what is no longer there, or those who are no longer present? How can we see what society leaves behind, or what never came to be? How can we photograph what resists to be shown?
