English Haydn Orchestra: Haydn:'the Creation'
THE ENGLISH HAYDN ORCHESTRA on period instruments Conductor: STEVEN DEVINE THE PHOENIX CHOIR Musical Director: DAVID THOMAS Grand Finale Choral Concert Soloists: Ana Beard Fernandez - soprano Timothy Langston - tenor Eugene Dillon Hooper - bass Haydn: 'THE CREATION' (1798) Of all the compositions that Haydn wrote he certainly demonstrated to his contemporaries, and the World, that he was a master at writing musical illustrations of Life, starting with his explosion of the word Light sung by the choir, with a powerful orchestral C major chord, at the opening phrase of The Creation. This masterpiece of choral music is littered with great images of the birth of Life itself, depicting with operatic style writings the interaction of humans and animals in a New World.

Music associated with the world's best known (not so secret) secret agent is coming to Bridgnorth in May, when Alveley Village Band will present The Music of James Bond at St Mary Magdalene Church on Saturday 31st May. Joining the band will be soloists Nina Aver and William Hayward and together they will perform music from the famous series of films, including classics such as From Russia with Love, Goldfinger and Thunderball along with later music Tomorrow Never Dies, Skyfall and The Writings on the Wall, not forgetting the iconic James Bond theme. Were really looking forward to presenting our James Bond concert, said AVBs Musical Director Garry Bailey. The evening will take a tour through all the musical highlights from most of the films. The band has been rehearsing very hard for what promises to be a very enjoyable and spectacular event, which will hopefully leave our audience Shaken and Stirred - in a good way!
