Lavenham Sinfonia Spring Concert 2026 - An English Journey
The Lavenham Sinfonia are delighted to present a musical journey from Gloucestershire to Cambridge all within the historic setting of the amazing Lavenham Church. Local singer Mark Saberton returns to perform Vaughan Williams' Songs of Travel . The orchestra will also perform a rarely heard piece by one of England's 'lost generation' of composers - Ivor Gurney's Gloucestershire Rhapsody . It's a beautifully evocative work with influences of Elgar, Vaughan Williams and echoes of Butterworth. The concert ends with a performance of Parry's Symphony No. 2 - Cambridge . Lavenham Sinfonia Autumn Concert 2026 - Classical Celebration
The Lavenham Sinfonia explore works by three of the most famous composers in the classical period, all within the historic setting of the amazing Lavenham Church. Members of the orchestra's wind section step forward to perform Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon and Horn accompanied by the rest of the sinfonia. The concert kicks off with a work by Mozart's one time alleged nemesis Antonio Salieri - his Il Giorno Onomastico , and ends with an early symphony by Beethoven - his Second. Lavenham Sinfonia Summer Concert 2026 - Massive Melodies!
An expanded Lavenham Sinfonia celebrate big tunes and luscious orchestral colours, venturing into the world of cinema all within the historic setting of the amazing Lavenham Church. The centrepieces of the concert are performances of Korngold's Violin Concerto and Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending - both with returning soloist Mathilde Milwidsky. The orchestra will also perform film music by Moross (Theme from Big Country ) and Walton (from Henry V ), lighter music by Eric Coates ( By the Sleepy Lagoon and the Three Elizabeth's Suite ) and the concert ends with Richard Rodney Bennett's music from Murder on The Orient Express .
