Prolapse + Special Guests

Prolapse + Special Guests

30 Oct 2025 - 30 Oct 2025

Prolapse formed in Leicester in the early 90s and are now spread across the UK and Scandinavia. Still pursuing their own path of repetition and twisted melodies, they merge influences from post punk to krautrock and even folk. Their previous releases have included numerous singles and four albums on various labels, including Cherry Red and Radar. They feature vocalists Mick Derrick and Linda Steelyard, whose intense duelling vocals combine with ferocious triple guitar assault and pummelling rhythms. Prolapse carved out their own shrieking corner of the '90s underground, where collapsing noise, motorik rhythms, and art-rock dissonance converged into something volatile and singular. While the shadow of The Fall looms large-particularly in the sardonic sprechgesang of Mick Derrick-the band veered into darker, more fractured territory, buoyed by a Glaswegian snarl that refused to play second fiddle. At the heart of their chaotic charm was the tense, almost theatrical push-and-pull between Derrick and Linda Steelyard, whose vocal exchanges oscillated between wry antagonism and a sort of desperate communion. It wasn’t always pretty, but it was rarely dull. The fifth Prolapse album “I Wonder When They’re Going to Destroy Your Face” will be released on Tapete Records and marks the bands first new recordings since their last album, “Ghosts of Dead Aeroplanes”, released 26 years ago. Presented by Alphaville UK. This is an 18+ event

Alpha Male Tea Party

Alpha Male Tea Party

24 Oct 2025 - 2 Nov 2025

Alpha Male Tea Party, with their effervescent, sprightly buoyant riffs and droll onstage tomfoolery, have always had a reputation as the party animals of the math-rock scene. But what happens when the world stops and the realities of life and death come into sobering reality? What happens at the end of the night when everyone’s gone home and the party’s ended? Infinity Stare, the 4th album under the tongue-in-cheek moniker, is the result of life’s trials and tribulations catching up on Alpha Male Tea Party. Since the release of their previous record Health three years previous, plenty has happened in the personal lives of the band, consisting of Tom Peters (guitar), Greg Chapman (drums) and Ben Griffiths (bass), which results in the most introspective collection of songs the three-piece have ever released.

Gnod / João Pais Filipe / Aaa Gripper
When The Sex Pistols performed at Manchester Lesser Free Trade Hall in June 1976, the gig was so inspiring that many people in the audience went on to form bands of their own-among them The Fall, Joy Division, The Smiths, and Simply Red. A similar, if less-seismic, thing occurred after the Massachusetts free-psych collective Sunburned Hand Of The Man visited Manchester some 30 years later. As legend has it, there weren’t a lot of people in the crowd that night, but many of them went on to play in Gnod. Buoyed up by Sunburned’s rapturous performance and influenced by the diverse recorded output of vintage krautrock experimentalists such as Can, Gnod formed in late 2006 and have never looked back. They have a fluid, ever-changing lineup, and various members and collaborators come and go as they please (often to reappear at a later date). The personnel regularly swap roles and instruments. They vehemently refuse to stick to any one style because a.) it would be boring, and b.) that kind of practice is a sure-fire way of diluting creativity. In Gnod’s eyes, musicians who engage in honing a formula are simply caught in the act of making themselves more palatable for mass consumption. That’s marketing; not art.
