Iron by Rona Munro

Iron by Rona Munro

10 Jul 2026 - 10 Jul 2026

An intense psychological drama set in a women's prison, Iron explores the fragile, tense relationship between a mother and daughter trying to break through the barriers of time, memory, and punishment. Josie is seeing her mother, Fay, for the first time in fifteen years. She has never walked into a prison before, and has been putting it off ever since that fateful night. Fay holds the secrets of the past tightly, and Josie cannot remember what happened or why. Over a series of visits, mother and daughter confront the gaps in their memories, the control and silence that separate them, and the emotional minefield of uncovering the truth. Every encounter brings them closer to understanding, but also reveals how fragile and complicated the past can be. Iron is a gripping exploration of memory, power, and the struggle to find answers when the past refuses to let go. An Amateur Production performed by Staveley Roundhouse Players (All tickets include a free drink). An exceptionally gripping and deeply moving play... psychological drama at its best - tense, harrowing, yet also powered by an unsentimental fund of compassion Daily Telegraph Rona Munro's play Iron was first performed at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, in July 2002, transfering to the Royal Court Theatre, London, in January 2003. It went on to win the 2003 John Whiting Award.
The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band Changed My Life Forever
Q: Is there anything more frustrating than being a One Hit Wonder A: Maybe being a One Hit Wonder Tribute Act. But what goes on behind the wigs, costumes and shadesThis play tells the story of two Tribute Wannabees, Bob and Eric, who meet at an audition which might be their last chance for fame. Both are only a song away from making their dreams come true...but Rock n' Roll can break your heart. Their dedication stands out, their history is uncovered and their future unfolds... A story driven along by songs from the sixties that might lead them to the promised land... 'The Crying Game', 'Urban Spaceman', I'm The Pied Piper', 'San Francisco', 'Something In The Air', 'Spirit In The Sky', and many more. Pat Abernethy and Dave Marsden brilliantly inhabit the personae of aspiring but hopeless dream seekers with wit, pathos and a neat line in performing those one-hit wonder songs from the 60's which are a soundtrack to many lives. It all works perfectly. Piers Jackson - critic Tickets Adults £15.00 Friends £14.00 (Tickets include a free drink).

Eberle String Trio

23 Oct 2026 - 23 Oct 2026

The musicians of the Eberle String Trio are drawn together by their passion for playing string chamber music to a level that is satisfying for player and audience alike. They have been playing together in various combinations for many years throughout the North West. Getting together in today's busy, busy modern world can be a major challenge and is a tad easier when there are only 3 folk as opposed to a string quartet. The repertoire is more limited but this results in the exploration of music by less mainstream composers which has led to some wonderful discoveries.
