The List

Stockton Globe

Stockton Globe theatre sits in the heart of Stockton's high street, where it first opened its doors in 1935. Over the decades the venue has hosted a phenomenal array of talent including many iconic international and British names from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to Sadler's Wells Ballet and the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. The Grade II listed Art Deco theatre had numerous periods of redundancy since the 30s. In 1975 the venue held a final show from the London Philharmonic Orchestra and though it operated as a bingo hall for some years after, in 1997 The Globe closed for good. Fast-forward to 2017 and, thanks to The National Lottery Fund and funding from Stockton Borough Council, restoration work led by Willmott Dixon began on the building. The Ambassadors Theatre Group, who run 30+ successful UK entertainment venues that showcase comedy, theatre, music and more, obtained the venue in 2020 and announced plans to reopen the newly refurbished, 3000 capacity theatre. After many decades the Stockton Globe will reopen in Summer 2021 with a season including Chris Ramsey, Diversity, John Bishop and Paloma Faith.

Adam Ant

Adam Ant

23 Oct 2025 - 25 Nov 2025

One of the seminal figures of new wave, Adam Ant (born Stuart Leslie Goddard) had several distinct phases to his career. Initially, he explored a jagged, guitar-oriented post-punk with his group Adam and the Ants before giving way to a more pop-oriented, glam-tinged musical direction that brought him to the top of the charts. After that had run its course, he refashioned himself as a mainstream singer, which enabled him to stretch his career out for a couple of years. Once it seemed that his musical career had evaporated, he made an unexpected comeback in the early '90s as an adult alternative artist. During all this time, he recorded several great pop singles and had a surprisingly large impact on alternative rock.
