Embark on an insightful journey through Britain’s eccentricities in this stage adaptation by Tim Whitnall from Bill Bryson's much-loved novel "Notes from a Small Island.” Bill Bryson's smash-hit memoir "Notes from a Small Island" spent three years on The Sunday Times bestseller list, sold over two million copies, and was voted the book that best represents the UK. Tim Whitnall's hilarious stage adaptation was first produced at the Watermill Theatre, Newbury, in 2023. The stage adaptation weaves around the character of Bill Bryson, an American expat, who takes the audience on a charming and affectionate tour of Britain, from its picturesque villages to its quirky landmarks. Along the way, he encounters colourful characters, unravels the mysteries of British culture, and delivers a witty, unforgettable exploration of this small island. With this multi-rolling ensemble cast, prepare to discover the heart and humour of Britain like never before. Please note this is a stage adaptation of Bill Bryson's novel "Notes from a Small Island" - all parts are played by performers. Bill Bryson will not be appearing in person. As a rich and clever young woman, Emma Woodhouse has no shortage of would-be suitors, whether it be the amorous Mr Elton, the dashing Frank Churchill or the down-to-earth Mr Knightly. Emma, however, is more interested in finding a match for her friend Harriet, until her actions have some unexpected consequences. Lovers of Jane Austen will not be disappointed by this classic romantic comedy, written in the best Andrew Davies style and brought to life in true Talisman fashion. Made in 48 Hours present - Queen E Rocks!
Made in 48 Hours present - Queen E Rocks! Made in 48 Hours are back at the Talisman Theatre this summer and this year, to join in with the celebrations of the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth 1 visiting Kenilworth, we proudly present Queen E Rocks. Featuring a live band, we will be re-telling the story of Elizabeths reign, well some of it anyway and parts of it may even be historically accurate, who knows? Anything can happen! Join us for the show at 7.30pm on Sunday 27th July when we can promise you an evening of ridiculousness and laughter. Book early to avoid disappointment, tickets 15 and can be booked through the Talisman Theatre. For anyone who hasnt seen a Made in 48 Hours production, the cast and crew will be presented with the script on the evening of Friday 25th July, props and costumes will be sourced, lines will be learnt (sort of) and the show will be pulled together ready for the performance on the Sunday evening. All proceeds go to charity and this year our chosen charity is Warwickshire Vision registered charity number 1123220.
