But in 2008, a show in Tennessee went horribly wrong and, with 10 States remaining, Joel’s American adventures came to an abrupt end. He returned to the UK, bought a canal boat and started creating a show about it – ‘Angry Boater.’ 18 years on, approaching 60 years old, he’s still floating around. Joel was recently discovered by Channel 4, becoming an instant hit on the popular ‘Narrow Escapes’ series. The programme documented Joel’s adventures including, in the Season 2 finale, his narrowboat sea cruise in the middle of the night. Whether you’re a boater, boat-curious or you can imagine nothing worse, this is an evening of comedy & stories you’ll remember for years to come. As well as delving into the joys, perils and madness of a life afloat with hypertension, Joel also lifts the lid on several of his celebrity encounters (including an awkward towpath encounter with a disgraced Hollywood A-Lister).

Simon Evans: Simon Evans is Staring at the Sun
BBC Radio 4 stalwart and veteran of a quarter century of highly acclaimed stand-up comedy Simon Evans has announced a huge UK tour of his new stand up show Staring at the Sun with over 50 dates from January - June 2026. Staring at the Sun sees Simon Evans (Live at the Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Simon Evans Goes to Market, One Person Found This Helpful) squinting at an uncertain future, revisiting the blue remembered hills of his youth and trying to stay human as the world around him gets smarter. With the AI singularity looming and “reality” feeling increasingly unstable, Evans looks ahead to the coming shockwaves of technology, and back to the analogue pleasures of hitch-hiking, pub bets, and getting properly lost. Turning his famously dry, surgically precise style on the big modern questions: Are we living in a computer simulation? What happens when your body starts issuing software updates you didn’t request? And is staring straight at a solar eclipse, against expert advice, actually an act of courageous self-sacrifice on the road to true enlightenment? Part philosophical exploration, part nostalgic joyride, Staring at the Sun is a hilarious analysis of reality and trust from a man desperately trying to keep his balance while the floor keeps moving. The tone is unmistakably Evans: provocative, literate, and playfully combative, but also soaked in self-awareness. Evans draws on theories propounded by philosophers and mystics since the days of Plato and Ecclesiastes, casting himself as a public intellectual but constantly undercutting his points with brutally funny domestic truths. Simon Evans is one of the UK’s most respected and best loved comedians who has been at the top of his game for over twenty-five years. His TV credits include two appearances on BBC One’s Live at the Apollo, one on Michael McIntyre’s Roadshow, and a season of Channel 4’s Stand Up for the Week. On BBC Radio 4 his series Simon Evans Goes to Market, delighting audiences with his witty and insightful take on the comedically-unpromising territory of economics, has had six seasons. He is also a regular on Radio 4’s The News Quiz, and various other panel games, and from 1998 to 2002 wrote and hosted eight series of the news satire, The Way It Is. He also stars in One Person Found This Helpful – a Radio 4 show he co-devised with Jason Hazely and Pozzitive Productions, that has fun with on-line customer reviews and hosted Headliners – a regular preview of the following day’s newspapers with two other comedians on GB News. Evans is also in demand as a columnist and has written extensively for The Spectator, The Telegraph and Spiked.
Nigel Planer: Young Once

Nigel Planer: Young Once

28 May 2026 - 24 Sept 2026

From the wild early days at The Comedy Store to the chaotic brilliance of The Comic Strip Presents, Filthy Rich and Catflap, and beyond – to West End musicals and hit pop records – Nigel will share a trove of outrageous tales of the backstage chaos that shaped a generation of comedy: from twenty-foot-éclair-related injuries to gatecrashing raves with Robin Williams, Top of the Pops and Band Aid, to auditioning for a stony-faced Robert De Niro. Alongside the laughs, he will reflect on the bittersweet moments behind the scenes – the friendships, fame and rivalries, and the winding path of a creative life. Woven throughout the show is a moving, often mischievous account of the long, on-off-on-again love story between Nigel and his wife Roberta, and a life lived somewhere between the footlights and the fallout. Full of dry wit, theatrical flair, and a knack for finding humour in both disaster and triumph, don’t miss the once-young Nigel as he offers a wildly entertaining and gloriously sideways glimpse into his quietly remarkable career, in a show that is part performance, part confession, and all heart.
Comedy Roast Battle Night

Comedy Roast Battle Night

13 May 2026 - 13 May 2026

The Comedy Roast is not your average comedy night; it's a full-scale comedic battlefield where sharp tongues clash and egos are left in ashes. At the heart of this savage spectacle is a no-holds-barred roast battle, pitting stand-up comedians against one another in a ruthless contest of wit, cruelty, and comic timing. These arent friendly jabs; theyre deep cuts, with every flaw, failure, and faux pas dragged into the spotlight for maximum laughs and maximum damage. James Harris, the unflinching Roast Master, presides over the madness with a wicked grin and a mic that could double as a guillotine. Under his rule, no one is safe, not the performers, not the audience, not even the host himself. Each round gets hotter, meaner and more outrageous as competitors verbally annihilate one another in pursuit of the supreme title: Roaster of the Month. Expect gasps, belly-laughs, and the kind of roasting that might just leave lifelong scars. But this isnt just comedy, it's Double G Comedy; bold, brutal, and brilliantly hilarious. The Roast & Toast is where reputations are made or obliterated in minutes, where the line between comedy and carnage blurs, and where only the sharpest survive. Come for the jokes, stay for the carnage and leave grateful you werent on stage.
