The Bongo Club

An Edinburgh institution, the Bongo Club is part of the Out of the Blue family, and is settled in its current situation on the Cowgate. The venue is renowned for its long-running club nights, such as Mumbo Jumbo, but also puts on live music, spoken word, exhibitions and other events. The Bongo Club is on the Cowgate, just off the Royal Mile, and served by a number of Lothian buses passing close by on South Bridge, including the 3, N3, 5, 7, 8, 14, 29, X29, 30, N30, 31, X31, 33, 37, N37, X37, 35, 45, 49, 51 and N3. The venue is about 10 minutes walk from Waverley Train Station.

More of an open community to all ex Fall-ers, centred around a core line up, House of All have now bolstered their already mighty fine line up by creating a three drummer strong rhythm section, taking it in turns to play on various tracks.

For our first outing after Christmas, and with a 5am license, EPiKA brings Lindsey Herbert, straight out of the epicentre of the US underground techno scene to make her Scotland debut. Originally from Los Angeles and now based in Phoenix, Lindsey has spent over a decade refining her craft across the thriving US techno community. A resident of Direct to Earth (SF) and Techno Snobs (AZ), and co-founder of EvilGroove Records, she has commanded crowds at some of the worlds most respected stages - from the legendary Movement Festival in Detroit to Tresor in Berlin - and was personally invited by Richie Hawtin to join his From Our Minds tour across North America. Her productions have landed on labels including Truncate, Noise Manifesto, Suara, Planet X, NECHTO, Blank Code, and Crisis of Man, with a catalogue thats both raw and atmospheric. Her sound has evolved into a hypnotic, groove-driven style that locks the floor into a relentless rhythm, whether deep, peak-time, or high-energy. At The Bongo Club, Lindsey is joined by EPiKA residents ona:v and Iona Violet, with Malissa and Nikki Guild in Room 2 with more gentle selections. Another heavyweight debut brought to Edinburgh by EPiKA.

Dillinja headlines New Year’s at Bongo Club, a true originator rolling up with thirty years of innovation and chest-rattling classics. From underground staples like Deadly Deep Subs and Sovereign Melody to the era-shaping, legendary anthem Twist Em Out, his tunes set the standard for heavy engineering and scene-defining production. Never content with the ordinary, Dillinja pushed drum & bass into new territory. building labels, the legendary Valve sound system, and a peerless catalogue that still hits with full weight. His sound stands firm today, and every tune’s built for Bongo's infamous Danley rig. Consider it a rare chance to hear decades of experience channelled straight through the system. Come steady, keep close, and start the new year the way it ought to be started: in the dance, tuned in, fully present. We’re pleased to welcome DJs from many of Edinburgh’s favourite crews for this one, with Botanica Soundsystem holding down Room 2. As with previous DnB Hogmanay parties, this will sell out.
