Mark Watson: Search

14 Apr 2026 - 14 Nov 2026

20 years in stand-up for the Taskmaster cheeky texts icon, multi-award winner, YouTube cult figure, Radio 4 favourite and recently ‘Baby Reindeer’ actor: Watson returns after seasons at the Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Edinburgh comedy festivals. A recent encounter with a stranger caused Mark to spend some time pondering the uncertain future facing humanity. He explores this – along with equally pressing matters like the worst word he has ever said in public, the current state of the UK sausage industry, and much more – in a typically frantic and fun-packed new show!
Jessica Fostekew: Iconic Breath

Jessica Fostekew: Iconic Breath

9 Apr 2026 - 16 May 2026

A monster’s guide to tolerance and temperance. Jess can feel herself becoming an emotional wildebeest right when her world (and the whole world, thanks) demands cool, collected ultra detached saint-like kindness and understanding. St. She goes digging around in her DNA for answers and finds so many beautiful horrors. Witness her effort to become a brand new, mythical, mystical ‘coper.’ OR NOT. She gets cancelled, she gets touched and she gets a dolphin-based epiphany all in one show. The silliest of comedy for the scariest of days from Edinburgh Best Show Award Nominee. You’ve seen Jess on BBC’s QI, Live at the Apollo, Celebrity University Challenge and Richard Osman’s House of Games. From Travel Man on C4 and World’s Most Dangerous Roads on Dave. You know her from her two BBC R4 series of Sturdy Girl Club plus podcasts The Guilty Feminist and Hoovering. And, of course, from new mighty smash hit Gladiator’s fan-podcast Contender Ready which Jess co-hosts with Olympic weightlifting superstar, Emily Campbell.

John Kearns: Tilting at Windmills

2 Apr 2026 - 6 Nov 2026

Tilting at Windmills is the brand-new stand-up show from Taskmaster alumni and double Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner, John Kearns. A fragmented, digressing portrayal of a 38-year-old man’s life, alluding to books he hasn't read, touching on the modern condition. Plus VAT! More allusive and bleak as ever, it is unreal the comedian you become. And for who? Decent craic with the right crowd. A show for those who have read about but not committed to the Guinness Nitrosurge.

The History Of Witchcraft & Women: Magic, Rituals & The Patriarchy
Uncover the fascinating history of witchcraft and how patriarchal ideas shaped the image of a witch. Followed by Q&A. “What else is woman but a foe to friendship, an inescapable punishment, a necessary evil...” So claimed the 15th-century writers of the Malleus Maleficarum, or ‘Hammer of the Witches,’ a handbook for identifying women thought to be conspiring with the Devil. How did women come to be seen this way? And what impact did this publication have on the lasting stereotype of the witch as a harmful, evil woman? In this talk, Dr Julia Phillips examines the circumstances that created the malevolent female witch and why she became such a powerful figure. We will trace witchcraft from ancient times to today, showing how women were cast as disruptive forces in their communities. The talk concludes by considering the role of women in 21st-century witchcraft, contrasting it with Early modern Europe. Doors open at 6:45pm, talk starts at 7:30pm - come down early to grab a good seat! Follow us on IG @seedtalks Dr Julia Phillips is Hons Senior Research Associate and lecturer at the University of Bristol. She received her PhD for her research examining how witches and witchcraft were featured in newspapers in Victorian Britain. Her work has been published in books, academic journals, and popular magazines, and she is a regular presenter at conferences and events. Presented by Seed Talks This is an 18+ event
