Bad Manners

Bad Manners

23 Aug 2025 - 4 Jun 2026

Fronted by Buster Bloodvessel (born Douglas Trendle), the band was formed in 1976 while the members were at school together, and among their early incarnations were known as Stoop Solo and the Sheet Starchers. None of the members had any formal musical training, not even the ability to play any instruments. They were popular during the late 1970s and early 1980s, a period when lots of similar ska bands filled the charts. Some of their hits include 'My Girl Lollipop', 'Lip Up Fatty', 'Special Brew' and 'Ne-Ne-Na-Na-Na-Na-Nu-Nu'. One of the main reasons for their notoriety was because of their outlandish, larger-than-life, huge-tongued & shaven-headed front man. Buster´s exploits got them banned from the British TV chart show Top of the Pops (which included dressing as Henry VIII and singing to a blow-up doll for the song 'Lorraine', pouring a large can of baked beans over his head, and dressing in a can-can dancer´s dress to promote their single 'Can-Can').
The Blow Monkeys

The Blow Monkeys

9 Oct 2025 - 24 Oct 2025

With hits like ‘Digging Your Scene’ and ‘It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way’, The Blow Monkeys epitomised the glamour of mid-80s pop at its most graceful and sophisticated. In the band’s frontman Robert Howard (aka Dr. Robert), they possessed a tall, charismatic singer who was both camera-friendly and clever, who appeared to be just as much at ease on the catwalk that is pop’s conveyor belt as he was penning witty, incisive songs. While quite clearly Robert’s band, though, the Blow Monkeys were also gifted three immensely talented musicians in bassist Mick Anker (he of the trademark bowler hat), saxophonist Neville Henry and drummer Tony Kiley. Behind the band’s stylish veneer lay something else, which became increasingly apparent from Robert’s lyrics. While some of the Smash Hits generation avoided politics with a capital P, The Blow Monkeys openly criticised the policies of the Conservative government, railing against social injustices and adopting an openly left-of-centre stance on issues of the day. From openly endorsing the gay community “Digging Your Scene” to an outright attack on Margaret Thatcher ‘Celebrate (The Day After You)’ – a duet with the late, great Curtis Mayfield, The Blow Monkeys were always the thinking person’s pop group. As the 1980s progressed, so too did the band’s musical style, from a sound once dubbed “jazz punk” by Robert to a more soulful, jazzy style and an ever-increasing adoption of dance music. The Blow Monkeys of their rare, indie debut single ‘Live Today Love Tomorrow’ (recorded on a shoestring in 1981) would be barely recognisable to those who bought the Balearic remix of ‘La Passionara’ from 1990. And yet a soulful, spiritually uplifting strain has continued to run through their music – and, indeed, that of Robert’s solo recordings – to this day.

The Vaselines

The Vaselines

20 Dec 2025 - 21 Dec 2025

The Vaselines were formed in Edinburgh in 1987 by singers/guitarists Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee, soon signing to Pastels frontman Stephen Pastel's newly formed 53rd 3rd label. Nirvana's Kurt Cobain regularly cited the Vaselines influence in interviews with the music press and Nirvana would go on to cover the Vaselines' Molly's Lips and Son of a Gun (both later compiled on their Incesticide collection) as well as perform Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam on their legendary MTV Unplugged appearance. Cobain's gospel-spreading no doubt accelerated their rise to cult sainthood, but the Vaselines would have gotten there sooner or later on their own accord. Lewd but nave and abrasive yet tender, the band's shambling, primitivist squall remains a perfect distillation of pop at its most guileless and euphoric.Eugene Kelly later went on to front Captain America / Eugenius, while McKee spent the better part of the decade out of sight, resurfaced in Suckle, and released a solo album in 2006. The Vaselines reunited proper in 2010 to record their second full album Sex With An X which was released on the Seattle label Sub Pop.This was followed by V for Vaselines in 2014. The Ramones inspired album featured many of the same players who helped make 'Sex.....', including Belle and Sebastian's Stevie Jackson, the 1990's Michael McGaughrin and Teenage Fanclub's Francis Macdonald.
Welly

Welly

2 Oct 2025 - 15 Oct 2025

Welly is an extraordinary character with a remarkable literary way of describing himself, his band and society. A square peg in the round hole of suburban life, Welly embraced his difference from an early age and went onto channel his observations on suburbia into songs. Whip-smart, playful, funny and terrifyingly smart pop songs to be precise. He then set about finding the perfect vehicle to pedal his wares and so formed a band and delivered a debut album bursting with democratised pop music for people that feel fun in the charts stopped at Love Machine by Girls Aloud.

Featuring your headliners, UK Deathcore titansOSIAH Hailing from the extreme music melting pot that is the North East of England, Osiah transcend the deathcore label with what could possibly be the most torturous barrage of filth the UK has produced in recent years. Having recently killed it at Bloodstock Open Air on the Sophie Lancaster Stage last year, as well as headlining the UK Deathcore Showcase Tour, and about to embark on a European tour with Cytotoxin, the band shows no sign of slowing down their dominance as one of the UKs heavyweights on the Deathcore circuit! Wormrot at The Brickyard, Carlisle

7 Nov 2025 - 7 Nov 2025

On Friday 7th November, Dev Bros Promotions proudly presents Singapore Grindcore icons WORMROT at The Brickyard in Carlisle! Rolling Stones Magazine described Wormrot's latest release ''HISS'' (2022) as one of the best metal releases of the year. To understand this Singaporean band's most unlikely journey to arrive on a list comprising the likes of Megadeth and Ozzy Osbourne, one must look back to the start where an equally unlikely signing started it all. Earache Records signed their very first Asian act in Wormrot within 2 weeks of Digby Pearson's chance encounter of an online mixtape back in 2009. Fresh faced and straight out of national service, the trio consisting of Rasyid (Guitar), Arif (Vocals), and Fitri (Drums), found themselves with a global record deal. Wormrot's debut album ''Abuse'' (2009) had prompted an official re-issue from Earache in 2010, which then spurred debut tours in Europe and North America, making Wormrot one of Singapore's pioneering international touring bands. The much acclaimed ''Voices'' (2016) became a conduit of recognition. Through the whirlwind of a lineup change and increased global attention, Metal Injection gave it a perfect score in their review, calling it the best Grindcore release of the year. The 2017 edition of Glastonbury Festival saw Wormrot become the first South East Asian, and in turn first Singaporean act to perform at the festival. ''Hiss'' (2022) marked a significant foray out of boundaries that caught even more attention beyond the confines of Grindcore. Rolling Stones Magazine called 'every track an adventure, a frenzied plunge into the unknown', also stating that 'squeezing 21 tracks into 33 minutes is hardly a feat by grind standards, but its the quality and quantity of ideas within these tracks that astounds'. A dream come true tour followed in support of their idols Napalm Death' Campaign For Musical Destruction Tour 2024, as well as a debut appearance at the iconic Hellfest in France, capped off a hugely significant cycle. Now back to the original lineup that started it all, Wormrot is geared to claim a place atop Grinds pinnacle. Perhaps Kerrang Magazine put it best, that 'Wormrot can grind faces with the best of them, but they also bring in a host of other elements and their own unique flavour'. Support for this show comes from Carlisles very own Grind boys Clunge Destroyer who return to the stage for a very special one off show with a brand new 4 piece lineup that you dont want to miss, as well as West Cumbrian Lovecraftian Death/Doom Metal outfit, Void Below!
