Since first stepping foot in a recording studio nearly Erja Lyytinen has become a bona fide star in her homeland and a celebrated fixture on the international music scene. In that time, she has recorded nine studio albums in places as diverse as Helsinki, Memphis and Clarksdale, Mississippi, earning numerous awards and honours along the way. She feels equally at home playing traditional and modern blues, but has never been afraid to incorporate styles like jazz, pop and soul into her songwriting. Born into a musical family in the town of Kuopio, Lyytinen quickly emerged as an artist to watch in her native country. She signed with Germany’s prestigious Ruf Records label in 2005 and recorded her international debut Pilgrimage later that year. Her participation in the 2006 Blues Caravan tour gave audiences outside of Finland a first taste of her spirited live performances and led to a string of successful appearances in the United States.

Gong are a progressive rock band that incorporates elements of jazz and space rock into their musical style. The group was formed in Paris in 1967 by Australian musician Daevid Allen and English vocalist Gilli Smyth.

Alternative folk six-piece Madra Salach announce their debut Ireland and UK headline tour. The news follows last weeks announcement of their debut EP Its a Hell of an Age featuring recent singles I Was Just A Boy and "Blue & Gold" which The Line of Best Fit, So Young, The Independent and more rushed out to praise, and Deb Grant championed 6 Music. The group took the Irish indie circuit by storm this summer and rammed their debut London show this month at The George with a word of mouth buzz that saw feverish crowd responses to yet-to-be-released songs on the EP. Snapped up by Erin Barker from T-Time for management and having recently impressed at Left of the Dial, the band are one of the must see acts at Live At Leeds, The Great Escape: First 50 and Eurosonic.

Matt Edwards is a songwriter/vocalist/guitarist that stands out in the UK Blues scene. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist he is inspired by a huge wealth of musical genres. From blues to rock, jazz and funk to folk his style of writing showcases subtle flavours from all styles and gels them into a strong Alternative Blues Rock offering. His debut album 'Follow The Plan' featured Matt writing and playing all the instruments on the album and has a gritty raw blues feel. After the release of his debut album Matt put together a live band 'Matt Edwards Band' which grew in reputation and experience over the next 2 years. In 2015 Matt hit the studio to record his second album, featuring Andy Norris on Drums, Roger Inniss on bass guitar and produced by Stuart Dixon. This resulted in 'Four Berry Jam' - think alternative Blues Rock, with heavy groove . It's a mix of riff based big blues rock, tight funk and mellow blues. The Men They Couldn't Hang came together in 1984 to perform at the alternative music festival in Camden town alongside the legendary Pogues and the Boot Hill Foot-Tappers. Paul Simmonds, Philip 'Swill' Odgers and his brother Jon, veterans of the Southampton based pop-punk band 'Catch 22', met Pogues roadie Stefan Cush whilst busking in Shepherds Bush in London. Their early line up was Stefan Cush (Vocals, Guitar), Paul Simmonds (Guitar, Bouzouki, and Keyboards), Philip Odgers (Vocals, Guitar, Tin Whistle, and Melodica), Jon Odgers (Drums, Percussion) and Shanne Bradley (Bass, Flute). Championed by the late John Peel their first single, a cover of Eric Bogle's 'Green Fields of France' (1984), became a big hit on the UK Indie charts and a staple of Peel's festive 50. Their first album, Night of a Thousand Candles, was released in 1985. It includes the singles 'Ironmasters' and 'Greenback Dollar'. Signing for MCA the following year, they recorded their second album, How Green Is the Valley, produced by Mick Glossop. Included on this album are thesingles 'Gold Rush', 'Shirt of Blue' and 'Ghosts of Cable Street'. In 1987 Shanne Bradley left the band and was replaced by Ricky McGuire, famous for touring with punk legends the UK Subs at the tender age of 17. With their third release in 1988, Waiting for Bonaparte, The Men They Couldn't Hangwere starting to achieve recognition across Europe for their political comment and raucous live shows.

Shotovers return to the iconic grassroots venue to give the audience their signature set of emerging Pop Bangers, Alternate Rockers and Disco/Funk infused grooves. The local 5 piece are clearly rising stars of their scene - coming off of the back of a duo of explosive sold out shows of this stage in 2025, they now look ahead at many festivals this summer, and THIS night will be the one to not miss in the sunny season of live music. Supporting them are Percstreet, an Electric Alternative Indie band, who blend influences such as Indie Rock/Pop to create an original and unique sound. British singer-songwriter Tom Mcrae, along with his regular touring musicians ‘The Standing Band’, has been quietly moving up the ranks of the most respected songwriters in the world today after releasing 7 critically acclaimed studio albums over the last 15 years and writing for a variety of artists and singers. Mcrae’s eponymous debut album in 2000 was nominated for a The Mercury Prize, a Q Magazine Award, and a Brit, and the subsequent two years of touring cemented his reputation as one the most entertaining and powerful artists touring today. From the furnaces of Stoke-On-Trent come Formal Sppeedwear, a wonky new wave teacup ready to be sipped, brimming with a heady infusion of Yellow Magic Orchestra, Neu and DEVO.

The Skids formed in 1977 in their hometown of Dunfermline, Scotland by Richard Jobson, Stuart Adamson, Bill Simpson & Tom Kellichan. After releasing an independent single the band was played by John Peel, supported The Clash in concert and then were signed to Virgin Records in 1978. Their first singles were Sweet Surburbia, The Saints are Coming and Into the Valley the latter reaching the UK Top Ten in early 1979. Their seminal debut album Scared to Dance came out in 1979 which was quickly followed by two chart singles Masquerade and Working for the Yankee Dollar. Both singles were taken from the Bill Nelson produced second album Days in Europa. The album also featured new member Rusty Egan of Rich Kids & Visage fame after the departure of Tom Kellichan. The band released two more albums The Absolute Game (1980) and Joy (1981) before splitting. The current Skids line up sees the lineup stripped back to an explosive 4 piece with Richard Jobson, Peter Byrchmore (Membranes), Hernandez (Drums) & Connor Whyte (Guitar). In 1980, Kirk Brandon formed Theatre of Hate from the ashes of heralded punk band The Pack. Joining Kirk on vocals were notable punk musicians Stan Stammers and Luke Rendall, along with old school friend, Steve Guthrie and Canadian born John Boy Lennard, who revolutionised the bands sound with his haunting sax lines. Theatre Of Hates debut double-A-side single, Legion/Original Sin, topped the independent chart in 1980, and Westworld, their debut album, produced by Mick Jones from The Clash and released in 1982, held the number one position for 21 weeks. The single taken from the album, Do You Believe In The West- world? has become an anthem and is still widely played in clubs and on international radio, as well as featuring on numerous compilation albums. Theatre Of Hate imploded in 1982, with Kirk taking Stan forward to form Spear Of Destiny, but the band has resurfaced over the years to play some very special shows across the UK, Europe and the USA. The band now have a settled line up of Kirk Brandon, Stan Stammers, Chris Bell & Clive Osborne who astound their loyal fanbase with high-octane live shows featuring new songs and classics from their back catalogue.

Their vinyl debut, the 4 track 10” EP ‘No’, on the Cracked Ankles label, showcased the breadth of the band’s stylistic approaches. Selling out very swiftly, and winning serious acclaim. 2025 also saw YAANG announced as part of illustrious hype list NME 100 where they were heralded as “one of the most exciting bands to come from the North West.” and growing their list of radio backers supporters to Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq, Emily Pilbeam, Indie Forever, New Music Fix (BBC Radio 6 Music) and John Kennedy (Radio X)- via backing too from The Line of Best Fit, DIY, and Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon.

Two era defining artists SKIDS & THEATRE OF HATE come together this autumn for an explosive UK co-headline tour. SKIDS The Skids formed in 1977 in their hometown of Dunfermline, Scotland by Richard Jobson, Stuart Adamson, Bill Simpson & Tom Kellichan. After releasing an independent single the band were played by John Peel, supported The Clash in concert and then were signed to Virgin Records in 1978. Their first singles were "Sweet Surburbia", "The Saints are Coming" and "Into the Valley" - the latter reaching the UK Top Ten in early 1979. The current Skids line up see's the lineup stripped back to an explosive 4 piece with Richard Jobson, Peter Byrchmore (Membranes), Hernandez (Drums) & Connor Whyte (Guitar). THEATRE OF HATE In 1980, Kirk Brandon formed THEATRE OF HATE from the ashes of heralded punk band The Pack. Joining Kirk on vocals were notable punk musicians Stan Stammers and Luke Rendall, along with old school friend, Steve Guthrie and Canadian born John "Boy" Lennard, who revolutionised the band's sound with his haunting sax lines. Theatre Of Hate's debut double-A-side single, "Legion"/"Original Sin", topped the independent chart in 1980, and "Westworld", their debut album, produced by Mick Jones from The Clash and released in 1982. The single taken from the album, "Do You Believe In The West- world" has become an anthem and is still widely played in clubs and on international radio, as well as featuring on numerous compilation albums.

Gotobeat is excited to present Miki Berenyi Trio at The Bullingdon (Lil Bully), Oxford on Monday 30th November 2026. Miki Berenyi Trio (aka MB3) are Miki Berenyi on vocals/guitar, Kevin ‘Moose’ McKillop on guitar and Oliver Cherer on bass/programming. The three musicians (whose former/other bands include Lush, Moose, Gilroy Mere and Aircooled) first worked together during Piroshka’s 2021 tour - Miki and Moose being founder members, Ollie joining to play bass. MB3 was originally formed to promote Miki’s memoir - Fingers Crossed: How Music Saved Me From Success (published Sept 2022) - playing a few songs to accompany her live book events. However, with three songwriters in the band, it wasn’t long before a full live set came together, and the nimble setup of a trio has allowed them to tour extensively in the UK, Ireland, Europe and the US, playing over 100 shows to date. Pozi are a South London trio - Toby Burroughs (drums/vocals), Rosa Brook (violin/vocals) and Frank Lindsay (bass/vocals) - making tense, propulsive indie pop that strips away guitars in favour of churning violin, tightly wound bass and urgent, tumbling rhythms. Emerging with the politically charged minimalism of PZ1 and evolving through the more expansive, textural world of Smiling Pools, their music balances philosophical weight with wiry energy and dark humour, shifting from direct confrontation to a more ambiguous, impressionistic take on modern anxiety. Following Smiling Pools, the band have developed a new body of work that pushes their previous album's emotive landscape into more direct and playful territory, now being performed live as they continue to stretch beyond the post-punk tag and into something more exploratory. Prayer Tech is a new project featuring current and past members of Pozi, Keg and Blue Bendy. Drawing from the sounds of emo, post-hardcore and psychedelia the 3 mutate clashing opposites together, sincerity and pretence, open guitar and discordant bass riffs. Theyre first album is set to be released this year, recorded at crypt studios, the sound is raw yet ethereal in places, at once immediate but also not afraid of a euphoric chorus.
