Bob Fox needs little introduction. A veteran of the folk music scene, the County Durham native started singing in folk clubs while at the same time training to be a teacher the 1970's. Teaming up to form a professional duo with fellow north-eastern singer and fiddle player, he then joined forces with singer, guitarist and acoustic bass guitar player Stu Luckley to perform all over the UK and record two albums, the first of which, Nowt So Good'll Pass, was voted Folk Album of the Year by Melody Maker in 1978. Fox and Luckley became a popular attraction on the UK folk scene and supported Richard and Linda Thompson and Ralph McTell on major British tours. Since ceasing the partnership with Luckley in 1982, Fox has maintained a successful career as a solo folk performer. During the 1990's, together with Benny Graham he developed a multi-media show documenting the coal mining communities of Durham and Northumberland, which led to the CD, How Are You Off For Coals, featuring a selection of mining songs. In 2006, Fox, along with a range of other top UK folk artists, was involved in providing performances for the "2006 Radio Ballads" commissioned by BBC Radio, and in 2009 he performed in the part of "Songman" in the highly acclaimed production of "War Horse", which played in the West End for 18 months and subsequently toured around Britain, Ireland and South Africa.

Her much-anticipated fourth album, Bird Inside A Cage, released in 2013, was a bold departure from her previous recordings, while still retaining all the underlying trademarks of her emotive, lyric-rich songs. As an advocate for mental health, Emily has been featured several times on Radio 4 including Woman’s Hour, Loose Ends and Midweek, where she was interviewed by Libby Purves talking about her book Start Over Again, a deeply personal account of her experiences of living with bipolar disorder. Winter Wilson + Floor Spots

Winter Wilson + Floor Spots

13 Jul 2025 - 13 Jul 2025

When Mike Harding dubbed Winter Wilson as one of the hardest working duos on the circuit, he'd clearly done his homework. In 2019 aside from touring around the UK, Winter Wilson have performed in Australia, Spain, Belgium and Canada. They also released Live & Unconventional, a long awaited live album that was recorded on tour and at Cropredy Festival with Fairport Convention "If you need evidence of just how special the duo Winter Wilson is, then Live & Unconventional delivers in abundance" Steve Caseman, RnR magazine "This is a brilliant, exceptionally well-recorded live album that really does convince that Kip and Dave are well and truly at the top of their game" David Kidman, Living Tradition Magazine. It is their live performance where these two really excel. Now in their 8th year as full-time musicians, Kip Winter and Dave Wilson bring a sense of intimacy to every venue, blending superb, often hard-hitting original songs, stunning harmonies and musicianship with sometimes hilarious humour and tales of life on the road. Kip (vocals, accordion, guitar, flute) "simply has a voice to die for (John Roffey, Maverick Magazine), whilst Dave (vocals, guitar and banjo) is now rightly recognized as being amongst the top tier of British songwriters, with his songs sung in folk clubs across the UK and beyond.

Together they collect little-known and forgotten lyrics, poems and stories from around the UK and set them to their own hypnotically original compositions (fRoots). Their sound is raw and bare-boned with distinctively contemporary and earthy vocalising (R2 Magazine), harking back to the 1960's folk revival sound. Bird in the Belly's 2018 debut album, The Crowing, was met with critical acclaim, with the Sunday Express giving the album 5/5 and calling it folk album of the year. Neighbours and Sisters followed in 2019, and the group have toured the UK extensively, playing at festivals including Moseley, Purbeck, Warwick, Gate to Southwell, Sidmouth and Broadstairs Folk Week. They have been featured regularly on radio including Desert Island Discs and BBC Six Music. Third album, After the City, was released in 2022, with The Guardian and The Observer calling it an album of well realised ambition. In January 2025, Bird in the Belly were featured in the Folk On Foot podcast, and a new album is planned for release in September. And if all that isn't enough to convince you of their folk credentials, one of their songs uses the word "pantaloons".
